Will there be any further development of Java2 on Sparc/Linux?

2001-07-11 Thread Ted Garrett

I've sent this question to the main list multiple times, with no response.
What I'm wondering is whether or not the J2SDK and J2EESDK are still under
development for Sparc/Linux. The release(s) for this architecture seem to
have stopped moving forward after the RC4 release of J2SDK1.2.2, and that
was a while back.

I'm asking now because I'm considering loading the machine in question
with Solaris 8 instead of Linux simply because I can then run the J2SDK
and J2EESDK at their latest releases, in support of apache, tomcat,
cocoon, and jetspeed.

The latest release for Sparc is 1.3.0-FCS. 1.3.1 should be available
in couple of days. We're also working on HotSpot for Linux/Sparc.

Re: javax.comm for Linux on StrongARM

2001-07-11 Thread Trent Jarvi

Jøran:

I'm not very familiar with strongARM support in GNU. I'll talk to some people that
would know
more Monday. I think you mentioned you have no auto* tools on the box. One possible
solution
would be to build a crosscompiler on another box and build the strongARM/linux
binaries with the
tools.

I'm answering emails from an internet caffee tonight. I'll be able to help more on
Monday.

Mozilla plugin on sparc-linux?

2001-07-11 Thread Alex Buell

I just noticed in the sparc-linux distribution of J2SDK 1.3.0 that there
is no plugin for Mozilla. Any plans to provide one? I have managed to
copmpile and install Mozilla but would like to use the plugin for Mozilla.
