video4linux support in jmf

2001-12-17 Thread Jonathan Morace

I have not been able to find much documentation on the linux jmf
implementation, especially on video4linux support in jmf. I have a
Hauppauge WinTV (bt878) tv tuner card and it appears to be recognized as a
capture device in jmstudio. When I capture there is no picture, only blue
screen. I am curious whether others have been able to capture from v4l
devices using jmf, and if anyone has any hints or knows where I can find
documentation on the subject.

Thanks for the help,

Jonathan

I have been using several other tools (haven't tried vic) to record video
streams from the card, and setting the source with v4lctl. Before using
jmstudio I captured a short clip just to make sure everything was
configured properly. Is it possible that jmf/jmstudio would change any of
the settings like video source?

Thanks,

Jonathan

Thanks for your advice.
But I don't know why and how I update the my libraries.

ldconfig: Path `/lib' given more than once
ldconfig: Path `/usr/lib' given more than once
/lib:
libnsl.so.1 -> libnsl-2.2.3.so
libBrokenLocale.so.1 -> libBrokenLocale-2.2.3.so
libpthread.so.0 -> libpthread-0.9.so
libdl.so.2 -> libdl-2.2.3.so
libm.so.6 -> libm-2.2.3.so
libncurses.so.5 -> libncurses.so.5.2
libutil.so.1 -> libutil-2.2.3.so
libnss_files.so.2 -> libnss_files-2.2.3.so
libcrypt.so.1 -> libcrypt-2.2.3.so
ld-linux.so.2 -> ld-2.2.3.so

To me, green thread has less problems on Linux. I
suspect that your computer does not support green
thread. You could test it by simply doing:

java -green

If you get segmentation fault by executing this
command, then your OS does not support green thread.
In such a case, you need to update your libraries.
