Question re. font sizes in JRE 1.4.1
Hi, My bank uses a java app for online banking. Unfortunately the fonts they use tends to result in parts of the text being cut off with the Blackdown JRE 1.4.1. You can see what I'm talking about at www.northernrock.co.uk - click on "your online accounts" on the top-left just above the main menu section - the java app will load and any text above about 10pt is cut off either vertically - part way through a sentence - or horizontally. This also affects dialog boxes (type anything into the "customer id " dialog box to see what I mean) and is even worse once logged in. I'm not sure how best to solve this - I suspect the application was written expecting truetype fonts. These are available to X on my system, but I'm not sure they are to my JRE. -- No! Nurse! Any means of forcing font size on an applet?
Is there any means of enforcing font size/substitution within the JVM for an applet? I didn't write the applet, nor do I have source code for it - it's used for online banking purposes. The applet, however, isn't very platform independent - like many such applets the font sizes, particularly in dialog boxes, don't quite work and so are frequently unreadable.
