I am developing a network performance benchmarking program with java. I have resently intalled jdk1.1.7 in my redhat5.1 but i am getting very slow prefrormance. i.e. a for loop from 0 to 3x10^7 takes about 10 secs while when using vcafe in windows95 it needs about 1 sec on the same machine. I am doing something wrong ? Graphics Acceleration
I am using Jdk1.2 in a standard Red Hat 5.1 and my computer is equipted with Virge display card. When i am trying to use graphics in my programs i am getting a drammatical reduction in the program speed while this is not the case when the programs are running in Nt or 98. My first thought is that Red Hat 5.1 doesn't take in advantage the hardware drawing capabilities of the virge chip while 98 and Nt do. Are there any solutions? Communications Benchmarking
Hi I am currently doing my Msc Project which is related with communications benchmarking of Fast Ethernet using java. A problem raised when I added one more 100Mbps fast Ethernet card to my system. While on windows95 I saw and increase from 3.5MB/s to 4.5MB/s when I added the second fast Ethernet card, Red hat Linux 5.1 it didnt take any advantage of the second fast Ethernet card by giving in both cases 3MB/s. I there a reason that my Linux cannot take an advantage of the added hardware. (In Windows95 I am using Symantec Café 1.2 while on Linux Iam using Java 1.2 beta. My programs are using java sockets to transfer data).
