[JAWS-Users] Re: right shift to move quickly

2007-04-25 Thread Lenny McHugh
StickyKeys
Pressing the SHIFT key 5 times turns on StickyKeys. StickyKeys lets you use
the SHIFT, CTRL, ALT, or Windows Logo keys by pressing one key at a time.
To keep StickyKeys on, click OK.
To cancel StickyKeys, click Cancel.
To deactivate the key combination for StickyKeys, click Settings.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] right shift to move quickly

Howdy folks, Got a little problem I don't understand. I am having my desktop
reformatted so I am using my laptop for the time being, it has XP, jaws 8,
in word you are supposed to be able to use the right shift key to move through
a document quickly, don't want to use the space bar, don't want to jump
that fast so I have always used the shift key for that. Now here is the problem
I seem to gbe having. As I am going down through the document with the
right shift key after 5 presses I get a sound and I can't go any farther. I am
not sure but does 5 presses of the shift start sticky keys, if that is
so, How can I get around this?

[JAWS-Users] updates to the programs page

2007-04-25 Thread David A Ferrin

I've just added five programs four of which are located under a new heading
called MISC since I didn't know where else to put them. I've also added a
driver recovery utility under system tools for XP and Vista. One of the
programs is the direct download for the free version of AVG. Hopefully
somebody will be able to make use of the new additions.

[JAWS-Users] screen resolution

2007-04-25 Thread Alan Terrie Robbins

I notice the JAWS XP Pro recommendations are a screen resolution of 1024 by
768 with a 32 bit color choice. Is anyone running JAWS successfully with
the old 800 by 600 standard resolution?

thanks
Al

[JAWS-Users] Re: vista problems

2007-04-25 Thread Reese

Well, I spent a couple of days trying to install JFW on a vista machine
without much success. Kept getting JFW display error messages.

Until someone pointed out you must first turn off user accounts. After
that, JFW installed successfully. Please do save this tip if anyone out
there has any plans on upgrading to vista.

[JAWS-Users] Vista re activation findings

2007-04-25 Thread Rick Harmon
Hi Everyone,

After a lot of reading and a number of people calling Microsoft about vista re
activation restrictions, this is what I have found out:

1. you can re install Vista on your machine up to 5 times in six months and
after 6 months the number is reset back to 5. Where you could run into problems
though is on OEM copies. I've read the OEM system builder agreement at
Microsoft and it states that you may not transfer your license for Vista to
another
machine or if your system changes significantly over the way it was when Vista
was first licensed to your machine. This means if you do a lot of hardware
changes to your system you may trigger a re activation notice from Vista and
according to the license you may not be able to re activate. However on Retail
versions of Vista the license agreement states you can transfer your license 1
time to another machine. So as long as your system doesn't change drastically
I would say you have nothing to worry about. These restrictions are a bit more
heavy handed than the XP license agreement is and is something to consider
when you purchase Vista.
