[JAWS-Users] Virus vault in AVG
Hello everyone, I have a couple of questions about the virus vault in AVG. If there is anything in the virus vault that AVG. has caught, does that mean that any and all traces of the viruses are gone from the computer? Also should the virus vault be emptied, and if so, do the viruses completely disappear from the hard drive, or do they just go to the recycle Ben? Just curious. If there is anything in the virus vault that AVG. has caught, does that mean that any and all traces of the viruses are gone from the computer? a: yes once AVG either places it on its vault or deletes it, it pretty much took care of the problem. Also should the virus vault be emptied? a: acording to technical support from the grisoft company yes it is recommended a least once or twice a month. and the way you do this is open your AVG control center then right click on the virus vault or use your JFW cursor then do a right mouse button click assuming you got the free AVG. in my opinion one of the big differences between the free AVG and paid one is its layout seems a bit easier on the paid one besides that on the paid one you do get 24/7 tech support. and if so, do the viruses completely disappear from the hard drive, or do they just go to the recycle Ben? a: they don't go to the recycle bin. hth Get Skype and call me for free. Hi Denny, I will most definitely stay away from the windows temp files. I won't mess with them! Thank you for all of your help! Take care, Lisa - Original Message - From: Denny Huff To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, April 13, 2007 6:58 AM Subject: [JAWS-Users] Re: Question about computer maintenance Lisa, I don't advise deleting the Windows temp files, but they are mainly located in the, c:\windows\system32 folder. Plus there may be others scattered around in various applications. But again, unless you know what you are deleting, I don't advise it. The Internet temp files are located in, c:\documents and settings\(your profile name)\local settings\temporary Internet files. This is where your temp files and cookies are stored. Most of these files provide faster loading of visited web pages. I don't see that it affects the performance of your PC by removing them. Unlike running a check disk on your C drive, you won't need to reboot for this to perform. 2. Scan Disk Per form the scan disk just as you would on the C drive, but of course highlighting the drive you want to scan as opposed to the C drive. Then just follow the instructions as you would for the C drive. Again, you won't have to reboot for this to run. 3. Defrag Perform as you would for the C drive but again, highlight the drive you want to defrag. One more step that I didn't include in those instructions is cleaning up the temp files. This should be performed on the C drive. Close all applications with the exception of Jaws. Go to run and type in: %temp% and press enter. Note the percent sign before and after temp. Press enter. This will bring up a list of temp files that you can delete. Do a control A to select all. Now do a shift delete and say yes to, are you sure you want to delete these items? If it fails to delete some items, make sure all of your applications are closed and try again. When finished, do an alt f4 to close. [JAWS-Users] Jaws and Microsoft Word 2007
Hello everyone, When I write letters I have always used the HJ pad, and I found it quite easy to use. I recently purchased and installed Microsoft office student and home adition 2007 on my computer. This includes Microsoft word which I always wanted to have because I thought it would be better then the HJ pad. I opened up a blank document in Word to write a letter, and I hit my alt key, so I could have a look at the menues. All it said was home tab press control tab to switch pages. I have never used Word 2003 with jaws, but a friend told me that the menues are totally accessible with jaws. I am running jaws 6, so I'm wondering if my version of jaws is too old for this newest version of Microsoft Word, or has Microsoft totally changed the way Word 2007 looks? When I rooted jaws to PC I didn't find things like file, edit, view, tools, and format. If anyone could help figure this out i'd really appreciate it!!! [JAWS-Users] Re: Having trouble uploading to send space.
Hi David, When I have the jaws cursor on, what is the key stroke to click on a particular link? Sorry if that is a dumb question, but I have always just hit enter in the past. Hi Rick, No I haven't checked my verbosity settings for internet explorer. I haven't checked them yet because I don't know what the correct settings are, so I wouldn't know if mine are set right. [JAWS-Users] Re: Reg-Scrub and Scripts
Hello everyone, Maybe someone can clear something up for me. Advice that was given to me on another list was do not clean out my registry unless I want to screw up my computer. I'm not sure if I should try this program, or not because if I mess something up I won't be able to fix it. If I were to use RegScrubXP to clean out my registry, and things did get messed up, would a system restore fix the problem? Just curious. Welcome to Registry Repair SE Topic: Welcome Welcome to the Windows Registry Repair SE utility program - the ultimate Windows tool for optimizing and maintaining your Registry in peak condition. As you use Windows, over time the Registry (which is a massive database of information about your computer, software and every user) becomes unnecessarily bloated and at times often corrupted, all because various programs fail to update and/or delete unneeded settings. This leads to longer startup times, slower performance and eventual failure of different hardware components, software or the Windows Operating system. Used routinely, Windows Registry Repair SE will allow you to optimize the Registry and maintain it in perfect condition - all with the click of a button! Through every step of the process, you remain completely in charge - Windows Registry Repair SE will never make a single modification to your Registry without your permission! The program is so flexible; it even creates dated backup copies of the Registry, which allows you to restore an earlier version if needed. For additional information on the Windows Registry, please review the Help file section on Understanding the Windows Registry. © 2003-2004 3B Software - All Rights Reserved Worldwide - Original Message - From: Lisa [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: jaws-users-list@googlegroups.com Sent: Friday, December 08, 2006 8:20 AM Subject: [JAWS-Users] Re: Reg-Scrub and Scripts Hello everyone, Maybe someone can clear something up for me.
