[JAWS-Users] MESSAGE TO DENNY

2007-06-09 Thread List Moderator

Saying sorry to the list doesn't make it alright to post it.
Let's be mindful of the subject lines, okay?
I won't ask again about this.
Thank you,

[JAWS-Users] SUBJECT LINE, AND MESSAGE LANGUAGE

List,
Let's be mindful of subject line content, and watch our language in our

[JAWS-Users] PERSONAL MESSAGES AND MEMBERS NAMES IN THE SUBJECT FIELD

2007-06-04 Thread List Moderator

All members,
Since there seems to be 2 different types of postings here that are
cluttering the list with unnecessary discussion,
I will address both of them in one message to the entire membership.
1. Leave members names out of the subject field!
When you include this text, it only serves to make the subject line longer,
and then in some cases, the entire subject, which is relevant, gets cut off.
If you want to contact a specific member, then reply to them privately.
There are several ways of doing this, and I'm not going to outline them
here, but if you don't know how to do this, then check the list website,
for tips and tutorials on this topic.
David has uploaded several files on this , so those who need to should check
them out.
If you still need some help, then post the question to the list.
I certainly can't speak for everyone, but I find it irritating to scan thru
a list of messages to find what looks like a social club.
Enough said on that.
2. Although there are 4 of us on the management team,
we cannot monitor this list every minute of the day!
We too, have lives, which include other obligations and responsibilities,
that absolutely take priority over the maintenance of this list.
I feel that the managers have responded to situations, or potential ones in
a very timely manner,
and you can rest assured that we do indeed read the posts to this list
There is no reason for anyy member to post to the list, what they feel is,
or what is not appropriate content.
If you disagree with something that has been posted, then please vvoice your
concerns to the management team and not the list.
That being said, let us do our job!
This list is in existance for one reason, and one reason only,
and that is so that we all can learn more about Jaws and the environment we
have to use it in.
And when I say all, I mean the managers too!
It still amazes me how many folks fail to read the footer of the messages,
and the list guidelines for that matter.
These things were put in place for a reason, and that is to eliminate the
need for unnecessary posts to the list, and management, as well as to give
the list some type of structure.
I would have posted this message much earlier, but I was attending to that
thing called, my life.
I praise David for his patience because he is very tolerant, and
understanding.
I on the other hand, do not have the time, or inclination to babysit what
are supposed to be adults.
This is David's list, which he generously sponsors so that we may all become
better at what we need to do with a computer,
and I abide by his guidelines and expect that every member do the same.

Okay, now that I have had my say, let's all get back to Jaws.
Thank you,

Richard Justice-List moderator

List,
Since David and I don't want a thread about this matter on-list,
Below you will find the URL so that everyone can hear for themselves.
The file is only about 6mb in size, so shouldn't take long to download.

 David,
Last thunderbird portable version is 2.0 RC1 which is much better than
earlier, because automatacally accept gmail accounts and is more jaws
friendly. The link you can download from is:

 https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=151395release_id=499482

I believe you will like it. I use it several days from the usb memory
 stick
and I think it's great program.
 Good luck.

Thank you for your quick reply. So as I understand it this is a stand
 alone
portable email client like pop corn but with more features, correct? Also
anything else I need to know before I kick the tires so to speak?

 hi,
That's not the correct link for the portable addition of Thunderbird.
 The correct link is
 http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/thunderbird_portable. The file
 that
you download is about 6 MB.

It's from Mozilla, the same folk who make the Firefox web browser.
 Download it here:

Download the pop corn program and tutorial from the group web site.
  It
  will
allow you to do that very thing, it's really slick how it works.

Is there a way for me to continue getting my emails while I'm out

Since I use outlook express, my guess would be no. So I'm thinking
  it
  has
  to
be done through my server's web site, is this correct?
