I beleive that Ken Stewart, Michael Byminington and others on the
Environmental Committee have been working diligently along with others on
the quiet car issue. But unfortunately much of that work and where we
 are
going on the issue doesn't seem to filter down to the membership.

This and other unfortunate lapses in communications leads to a wide
 variety
of problems including an inability to mobilize membership around an
 important issue.

These folks and many others do fine work but again if not effectively
communicated to the membership there can be an will be problems to say the
 least.

 HI List,

I have a friend who tried to install JFW8 recently. He was upgraded from
JFW7. the challenge is that now 8 is installed, that now when he starts
 his
computer no laws loads up and he has to use a hot key to get it to work.
 If
he clicks on jfw8, there is absolutely no speech.
He's running windows xp 0ro with jfw pro, but uninstalling and restarting
 the process has achieved nothing.
 Any suggestions?

 Kerry

[JAWS-Users] Re: JFW Installation

2007-02-10 Thread Ricque

Hi Kerry,
It's possible, but I would bet there is a video intercept error.
Try this:
Bring up Narrator with windows key +U.
Once Narrator has loaded, and starts talking, he should be able to alt tab,
to find what else is open.
If he encounters a video intercept error, then you will have to walk him
thru the dialogue to install the video intercept.
check the list website's tips and tricks page,
I'm sure David has something there on installing the video intercept.
If that isn't the case, then the other possibility is that the default
synthesizer is set to no speech.
If so, from the Jaws application, press alt + L for the language menu,
then the letter C for change synthesizer, and then the letter E for
Eloquence and hit enter.
If this is the problem, Jaws should start talking.
Let us know what you find out.
HTH,
Richard Justice

Subject: [JAWS-Users] JFW Installation

HI List,

I have a friend who tried to install JFW8 recently. He was upgraded from
JFW7. the challenge is that now 8 is installed, that now when he starts his
computer no laws loads up and he has to use a hot key to get it to work. If
he clicks on jfw8, there is absolutely no speech.
He's running windows xp 0ro with jfw pro, but uninstalling and restarting
the process has achieved nothing.
Any suggestions?

Kerry
