Max - 1. What you're hearing is the TopAndBottomEdgeAlert sound and there's a way to turn that off that I can post if enough people say they want to know how to do it. 2. The spell check problems have been present for years and date back to at least 6.X, so they aren't new. 3. When I've used Microsoft Word, I haven't seen anything like the problem you report.

Hi all. I just got my CD and installed jaws 8.0. I am happy with eloquence so I didn't mess with the extra voices. When I press the control key to stop jaws from talking there is that little bong sound indicating an error. But there is no error message, just the bong. Some times this happens at the end of a message in outlook express without my doing anything. When I run the spell checker in outlook express jaws says blank instead of saying the miss spelled word. Someone mentioned in passing on the handyman list that he was having the same trouble. As I type this I am running jaws 7.0. Last night I was using jaws 8 with MS word and suddenly it stopped reading everything. Up and down arrow or left and right arrow, all it would say was blank. Maybe it was swearing at me. Then when I pressed say all it crashed. I don't know about anyone else but I am beginning to give window eyes a good hard look. Regards. Max.
