To append to the clipboard, press Windows key-C. This is a JAWS command, so
topic is appropriate for this list.

Yes, this is known and will change at least for Firefox 3.1, which just
got renamed to Firefox 3.5. I'll also see if we can integrate this fix

[JAWS-Users] Out Look Express anounceing visited links

2009-03-06 Thread The Cluless Wanderer
Hi Friends,
I'm using Out Look Express, Jaws 10 Windows XP Pro Office. On my desk Top
computer when I open an E Mail message and come to a link that I haven't
visited Jaws reads it as a link, and a link that I have visited as a, visited
link. The unvisited links can be gotten to by pressing the letter, u, and the
visited links can be gotten to by pressing the letter, v. On my lap top that
option doesn't work. It, how ever, does work when on a web page. What setting
do I have to check to get it to work in Out Look Express and how and where do I
go to get to that setting. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Good afternoon everyone,

I’m writing to ask, if anyone on the list could please provide step, by step
instructions on how too take out the headers in forwarded messages? Whenever
I try to forward a message which is forwarded with a lot of headers in it,
when I press the shift key with the arrow key too select character by
character,it doesn’t say selected. Even when I try doing it with the
control plus shift, plus either right or left arrow keys, it doesn’t say
that anything that I’ve done is selected. What, if anything, am I doing
wrong here?

Re: [JAWS-Users] anti-virus software compatible with JAWS

2009-03-06 Thread Mark
Hi
Actually, I created a set of scripts for my Norton 2009. So, it is a
little easier to run using JAWS 10. I would be glad to send the scripts to
those who are interested. Just let me know who you are and where to send them.

God bless,
Mark

Andy- Are you currently using the full package of Norton? I was looking
at purchasing that, and have found it priced anywhere from $16.99-39.99.
I'm not sure if I have to by it directly from Symantec or if I can
purchase it for a cheaper price elsewhere. Also, do you know off-hand
how to check how much RAM is available. I learned that once but haven't
used that command enough for it to have stuck in my brain.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Question to the list on how too take out headers in messages that are forwarded?or those that you may want too forward too others.

2009-03-06 Thread Baracco, Andrew W

Open the message and hit the down arrow key until you get to the first
line of text underneath the header material. hit CONTROL-SHIFT-HOME.
That will highlight everything from the first line of text to the top of
the message. Then hit the delete key, and VOILA! The header junk is
gone. Make sure that you have already executed your Email program's
forward command before doing this because you will then be in an edit
box. This is important because when you first open a message, you can
only read it. This is especially problematic with folks who use GMAIL
or YAHOO mail, or messages coming from lists that are on Yahoogroups or
Googlegroups.

Good afternoon everyone,

I'm writing to ask, if anyone on the list could please provide step, by
step instructions on how too take out the headers in forwarded messages?
Whenever I try to forward a message which is forwarded with a lot of
headers in it, when I press the shift key with the arrow key too select
character by character,it doesn't say selected. Even when I try doing
it with the control plus shift, plus either right or left arrow keys, it
doesn't say that anything that I've done is selected. What, if
anything, am I doing wrong here?

2009-03-06 Thread Maria Campbell

You must be in forward mode or reply mode to do this.
For headers, down arrow to the last line you want to delete. Press control
shift and home for highlighting, then press the delete key.
For footers find the first line you want to delete. Press control shift and
end for highlighting, then press the delete key.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Question to the list on how too take out headers in

Good afternoon everyone,

I’m writing to ask, if anyone on the list could please provide step, by step
instructions on how too take out the headers in forwarded messages? Whenever
I try to forward a message which is forwarded with a lot of headers in it,
when I press the shift key with the arrow key too select character by
character,it doesn’t say selected. Even when I try doing it with the
control plus shift, plus either right or left arrow keys, it doesn’t say
that anything that I’ve done is selected. What, if anything, am I doing
wrong here?

[JAWS-Users] Copying web text without formatting

I was at work today and had to quickly copy some info off a website for a

Re: [JAWS-Users] Finding italics

2009-03-06 Thread Brian Lee

Hello Alan,

You can use the find dialog box in Word to find bold or italic text.

1. Use CTRL-F to bring up the find dialog box.
2. Use tab key to move to the more button and press spacebar.
3. Use shift-tab keystroke to move to the format menu button and press
enter key.

4. Press enter key on the font choice in the resultant menu.
5.Use tab key to the font style list and use down arrow until you get
to the bold choice and press enter key.

6. Use tab key to the find next choice and press the spacebar.

JAWS should find and speak the first occurrence of bold text that is found.
Use the find next button to find additional text that is bold in the
document.

You can also use the find dialog to find underlined text. In the font
dialog instead of pressing enter key on the bold choice just continue to use
tab key to move to the underline style choice. Use down arrow key in the
underline style list or perhaps alt+down arrow to open the list and then
down arrow key.

The above is quite helpful in large documents. In smaller documents you
might just want to use a scheme that speaks attributes in different voices.

Take care.

5.Use tab key to the font style list and use down arrow until you
get to the bold choice and press enter key.

6. Use tab key to the find next choice and press the spacebar.

JAWS should find and speak the first occurrence of bold text that is
found. Use the find next button to find additional text that is bold in
the document.

You can also use the find dialog to find underlined text. In the font
dialog instead of pressing enter key on the bold choice just continue to
use tab key to move to the underline style choice. Use down arrow key
in the underline style list or perhaps alt+down arrow to open the list
and then down arrow key.

The above is quite helpful in large documents. In smaller documents you
might just want to use a scheme that speaks attributes in different
voices.

Take care.

Hello Estelita,

You can bring up a list of schemes to choose from by using the keystroke
of JAWS key with Alt and the letter S. (JAWS key is the number pad
insert key for a desktop configuration and caps lock key for the laptop
configuration). Use up and down arrow keys to hear the various choices or
you can press the first letter of a listed scheme to move to it in the
list. Press enter on the scheme that you want to make active. There are
schemes for hearing changes in font information, changes in character
attributes, color, etc.

Schemes can be edited by using the Speech and Sound Manager in the
Configuration Manager settings. The voices that are used for various
changes can be changed, sounds can be used instead of voices, and other
choices can be made.

Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Finding italics

2009-03-06 Thread Griffiths, Steve
Alan,

Another way to find bold or italic is to press Ctrl + F for the find
dialogue, then press Ctrl + I for italic text or Ctrl + B for bold. Each
of these cycles through three possibilities; for italic these are find
italic, find not italic, find whether italic or not. If you lose track
of how many time you've pressed Ctrl + I, you can use the JAWS cursor to
read the line under the Find What edit, where the formatting information
to be included in the search appears as static text.

Re: [JAWS-Users] sticky keys function

2009-03-06 Thread Negoslav Sabev

hello,

If he uses xp, check if in control panel/accesibility options if the sticky
keys is checked. If not, let him check it and confirm with ok. But before
that, he can explore what options he has under the settings button. There is
the following checkbox Turn StickyKeys off if two keys are pressed at
once. That may be the problem.

Hello list,
I am helping a blind person with poor hands coordination using the

For example, to select a word we have to press shift and ctrl keys

But sticky keys function shuts off if any combination keys are pressed.
Any idea on how to solve this problem please?

[JAWS-Users] JFW and UTorrent

2009-03-06 Thread Wes Derby
Hi All.

I've been a pretty happy uTorrent user for quite some time now. However, in
the last couple updates of uTorrent, the list of files within a torrent in
the Add Torrent screen isn't read by JAWS. I can check and uncheck the
items, and I ccan tell what size they are, but can't tell WHAT they are.
Anyone have scripts for this software, or a torrent program that works
better with JFW 10?

Thanks.
