[JAWS-Users] STRANGE PROBLEM WITH LATEST JAWS BUILD
I Just installed the latest build of Jaws 12 and it locked up my computer so badly that David and I had to perform a System Restore. I'm not sure what happened but David says that he is running the same software on his Windows 7 machine without a problem. Maybe someone can figure out what might have happened. I'm using Windows 7 professional, Jaws 12 and Outlook 2003 on a 64 bit system. Suddenly, the cursors wouldn't focus on the message. It was there but both the PC and Jaws cursors were frozen. I could find the message with the Invisible cursor but it was way down the page and all kinds of other non-related things were on the same screen. Does anyone have any idea what was going on? Re: [JAWS-Users] Why won't the JAWS .exe offer the repair option?
Hi Cher; I'm sure you know this but, for those who might not. The steps below are the best, most in depth, and most thorough way of repairing Jaws according to Freedom Scientific Tech Support. 1. Place a copy of the Jaws executible version that you want to repair into the main root of the " C " drive. For example; If you are running Jaws11 most recent you would paste a copy of " J11.0.1430-32bit.exe " into the main root of the " C " drive. To open the main root of the " C " drive, go to the desktop, press enter on My Computer, press enter on Local disk C, and now you have the main root of the " C " drive open. 2. With the Jaws " .exe " pasted into the "C" drive, highlight the " .exe ", and press F2 as if you were going to edit this line of text. now press control + C to copy this Jaws executible, press escape to close the edit field, and press Alt + F4 to close the C drive. What you want to do is place just the title of the Jaws version into the Windows Run Dialogue box and not the file. If you were to place the Jaws executible into the Run box without copying as you did as per the instructions above you would have pasted the whole file into the Run Box instead of just the title. 3. Now that you have just the title copied to the clipboard, press Windows key + R to open the Run Dialogue Box. Type, remember to type a capitalC ," C:\ " without the quotes or spaces and press control + V to paste the Jaws title, press your end key to take the cursor to the end of the title and type in the following " /type repair" without the quotes but, with the spaces . Below is what your line of text should look / read like. C:\J11.0.1447-32bit.exe /type repair Read character by character to make sure you have put in the proper spaces, Forward & back slashes and text. press the home key to go to the front of the title and press enter to start the repair. A 2nd way to do the same thing. From: Brian Lee Hello Jim, You might have already resolved the problem, but if not here is a link that you can use to download the newest update for your 64-bit installation of JAWS. Information about performing the repair is shown below after the download link. ftp://ftp.freedomscientific.com/users/hj/private/WebFiles/JAWS/J11.0.1430-64 bit.exe After downloading the file you can do the following steps to repair the installation: 1. Use Windows key with R to bring up the run dialog box. 2. Use tab key to the browse button and press spacebar. 3. Browse to the downloaded JAWS setup file and press enter key. 4. Use tab key to move to where JAWS says "open colon edit combo", press the end key and then press spacebar. 5. Type in /Type repair, (that is first type a slash followed immediately by the word type then a space and then the word repair. 6. Use tab key to the OK button and press enter key. 7. Follow the prompts. Take care. Listers, I have installed and uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe reader9.3, and am having the same problem; wich is, Jaws isn't seeing some of the scannings. My brother is telling me that the document is there as clear as day but Jaws12 just isn't seeing it. Now other scanning of the same document jaws does see and read. When Jaws doesn't see the document the message is, "alert, know pages." But the pages are there! I also know that the pages are there because when Adobe is putting the pages in order Jaws will say how many pages there are, and again, my brother reads. Can someone tell me how and why, is Jaws12, reading some scans and not reading others of the exact same document?! This is a health document and I really want to have it in PDF form, it's about 70 pages which is really nothing for adobe or jaws to handle. Hello. ok let me make my self clear. I am running IE 7, Windows xp, sp 3 and yahoo messenger 10 with jaws 11. and the scripts don't seem to work at all. as I have said time and time again there were scripts that were on the jaws users page at one time that were written by rampcure and in hanced by jetendra for yahoo messenger and those scripts worked like a dream. I think they were for yahoo messenger 8 though but they are no longer on the sight though. and before some one asks yes I did try downgrading to yahoo messenger 8 and still it didn't work. when I would open up yahoo messenger and I had the scripts it would say "yahoo messenger welcome to yahoo messenger scripts in hanced by rampcure and jetendra and then it would say yahoo messenger again. then when I would go through my contacts list I would be able to see who was on line and hit f 6 to hear jaws say typing window and message window. I can do all of this now but the difference is that with those scripts that used to be on the jaws users page I was able to read what people were typing to me and what I was typing back. another thing that they would read were the messages at the top of the message window that said that who I was talking to was using a older version of yahoo messenger and that serten features would not be available. I am not hearing this now either. I also when I send a message am not hearing the message that I send when I hit enter. before it would say something like michverrier says hi if I hit enter and landed in the message window I could arrow up and read what I sent now I am un able to do this. so I hope that if some one out there has these serten scripts that were on the jaws users page and can send them to me that would be grate. they are no longer there and there is also nothing in the tips and tricks page about setting up yahoo messenger to work with jaws either and there used to be as well. well I hope that this finely explains what my problem is and that I will be able to get some help with this. from Mich. - Original Message - From: "soner çoban" To: Sent: Thursday, April 28, 2011 7:14 AM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] I am still not able to read messages in yahoomessenger using jaws 11 please help. if you would update the scripts, i can give some feed-back like after a while, let's say in a longish conversation, alt keys work very problematically. If you test the scripts on win7 and particularly on chatting, that would be awsome. -- Regards, Soner Çoban Data processing center of Uskudar Municipality Cell: +905543458786 Work: +902165313000, extention 2286 For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/ For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/ For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws12 being some timy with Adobe9.3?
Do you (or your brother) see any error message when JAWS doesn't read it? If you do, it may be helpful to know it. have you gone throughadobe's accessibility options? Reader Options? Are the pages normal sized, or large? (If large, then that could be causing more delay. the way around that is to have Adobe process just one page at a time.) in any event, if you have OCR capable of recognizing pdf that will likely do a better job with the particular pdf. - Original Message - From: "Carliss" To: Sent: Saturday, April 30, 2011 4:33 AM Subject: [JAWS-Users] Jaws12 being some timy with Adobe9.3? Well, Please forgive me for such a long post, but I need this help. Thanks! To all.
