[JAWS-Users] Setting verbosity in Excel 2003 was Defining row and column titles in Excel with Jaws 13
Hello; I am trying to get Excel to stop reading cell location as I move around in the spread sheet. I have not been able to find a place in the settings Center for the setting. I have also tried the procedure Ann spelled out below. When I tab once as she instructs I get only the general settings and nothing about Excel. All help appreciated. Re: [JAWS-Users] Setting verbosity in Excel 2003 was Definingrowandcolumn titles in Excel with Jaws 13
Subsequently I found that I don't have a formatting option in the Quick Settings! Excel 2002. Ann mentions Excel 2003. but the Quick Settings doesn't even look like it would contain formatting, since it's general verbosity and not specific to Excel although the settings should pertain to Excel. I thought I could sove the confusion, but with JAWS13.0.718, can't. - Original Message - From: Dave Maynard dmaynar...@frontier.com To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Tuesday, March 20, 2012 5:26 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Setting verbosity in Excel 2003 was Definingrowandcolumn titles in Excel with Jaws 13 As I said in my first post, I've tried that with no joy David Maynard Macon County Senior Services (828) 349-2200, Ext: 2731 dmayn...@maconnc.org -Original Message- From: jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Flor Lynch Sent: Tuesday, March 20, 2012 12:53 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Setting verbosity in Excel 2003 was Defining rowandcolumn titles in Excel with Jaws 13 Are you using the Insert-v, Quick Settings dialogue. [JAWS-Users] Silencing cell coordinates
OK, I realize the issue is with JAWS 13 and Excel 2007 I think. SO I apologize if this is just useless list traffic. With JAWS 12 and Excel 2010, I use insert v, then arrow down to Reading Options and set it to Cell contents only. I am guessing that this does not work in JAWS 13? [JAWS-Users] Cell coordinates with Braile.
Bill, You are in luck. I had a few minutes to kill so messed around with Excel and my braille display. Like I said, I am using JFW 12 and Excel 2010, so your milage may vary. Go into the settings center, insert 6, while in Excel. get to the braille settings. Under the general tab there is a Define Structured mode section. Hit enter on that. Now, arrow down until you hit the cell option. Tab to modify control, and hit enter. Now you have a list of things that can be displayed, and in what order they are displayed. Cell coordinates is set as the first item. You can remove it, move it up or down in the list. So, I arrowed to cell content, then tabbed to the up button and hit that until Cell Content was at the top of the list. I hope that was sufficiently clear to get you there. Re: [JAWS-Users] driver magician
yes, a wonderful application. you can update, save, package, and restore your systems drivers with ease! an additional note, if you have a little luck, the folks who make this application usually give there newest version to a place called www.giveawayoftheday.com this means you can get a paid for version for free a couple other useful notes on this app, is that it will package the saved drivers several ways, including a self installing .exe file so you don't need there program to reinstall the drivers. reload the comp run the .exe file and your good to go! another useful one that gets GAOTD'd each version is called Almeza MultiSet which will if you have your original windows OS disk/files or a restore disk, will help you build a set of disks that will reload everything you would want (which can include jaws) in one shot, I haven't tried it yet but you could probably include the drivers file as one of the installs, grins and yes a tutorial would be good, I have the app, have used it minimally, have the reinstall .exe tucked on my backup drives but don't know everything about it so the more help the better! take care and HTH everyone, inthane . I am going to purchase it for a couple of the other features it offers at $29.95. What this peace of goods does is extract all of the drivers from a system so you can save them in a safe place. It makes a distinction between Microsoft and drivers from third party developers. It knows which drivers get installed during a normal reload so it gives you the option to save all drivers or just those that windows does not contain internally. I tried this on a test system I have here and all drivers came out to around 88 but the non Microsoft drivers only numbered 7 which I was able to install without too much stress using the device manager. So for anybody who has ever fought with systems trying to obtain drivers after doing a reload this is a deal for you. I ran my auto install disk with a USB sound card. Popped in a CD of NADA set to auto run installed a few drivers and then JAWS was ready to lock and load. Total time maybe some where between two or three hours which includes the Windows install. I hope somebody out there will benefit from this information. If the spirit moves me there might be an audio tutorial in there some where. Just do a search for the program and you'll find it in a matter of a few seconds. David Ferrin Many people think they are generous because they give out free advice. Its under options. Now, if you don't have the ribbon version, you can get theere by typing control-shift-o from the inbox. If you have the ribbon, I don't know if that hotkey will work, and I am not at the computer with WLM 2011 on it right now. But, if you get under options, then go to the REad tab and you will see a checkbox to read in Plain-Text, uncheck that. Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.
