Re: [JAWS-Users] distance is 2 case 1

2013-03-03 Thread Chris Hill
I found it. Looks to me like it copies no matter what. We'll see what
happens if I just comment that line out. I suspect it will be fine.
Somebody should have removed that testing code.

Hi Chris,
Yes, you can edit the scripts, making sure to back them up first.
It would seem to me that if text was copied to the clipboard
prior to the script being active, then nothing else would be placed on the
clipboard.
If you open the Quicken script file,
and then look for:
ComputeDistance
you will find the related code.

A couple more questions on this, if I may: Are these scripts editable?
Are there functions that I could use to save and then restore the
clipboard data before and after this function is run?

HI
I believe that message is coming from some debugging code in the function
ComputeDistance in the JAWS Quicken 2003 scripts. It is also copied to
the
clipboard which explains how it showed up when you pasted the amount into
Quicken. The Quicken 2003 scripts will be used for versions 2003 and
earlier.

Strange subject, I know, but I've been having this little problem with the
latest Jaws 14. Sometimes I'll go into k1000 or a webpage or whatever,
and
most carefully select something like the amount of a bill so I can go
paste
it into excel or quicken or whatever. Sometimes I get the amount, other
times I get the message of distance is 2. I just got this and tried the
insert-space then c to see what Jaws claims is in the clipboard and it
said
distance is 2 case 1. Am I the only one getting this? Has anyone else
reported it? I'm tempted to do so, but I don't know if I can make it
happen
on demand. The really weird thing this time was that when I pasted the
first time I got my amount, and the second time I pasted I got this. It
is
like something aka Jaws is playing with the clipboard contents at some
point. I suspect Jaws, because this particular frustration has yet to
happen with NVDA or Window-eyes.

arg, no not at all

the blind have been in on the development of windows 8 most of the way along
and able to make suggestions to them about it.

yes, windows 8 has an extensive amount of touch screen usability, but it
also has a good keyboard input. Microsoft was trying to get one program, all
devices worked out, and it will work, if folks will start employing it more
extensively.

windows 8 works perfectly well with jaws 14, there is a whole yahoo group of
us running testing and/or making notes on the OS.

they took out the start menu, and replaced it with some other access method,
but you can still bring up the list in its minimum, and there is a free
application that will put the basic windows classic start menu back in
windows 8.

hope that covers it all well enough,
inthane

Flor. what's the difference between windows 7 and 8? Someone told me that 8

is a touch screen system? Is this true? Are vision impaired computer users

being forced out of keyboard navigation eventually or what? Thanks for any
info. Marilyn
ps I'm still using xp and hate to see it go.

: Hi Scott,
:
: On both counts: No. You can have Windows7 Home Edition (32-bit or
: 64-bit). All you'd need to do for the 64-bit Home edition would be to
: download the 64-bit Standard edition of JAWS from the FS Web site.
:
: However, Windows8 is now almost universally on sale. You'd probably need
: to go online to buy Windows7. And, for Windows8, you will need JAWS14.
: (Again, Standard JAWS edition for Windows Home Edition.).)
