Hi

Alt+numpad delete will give you the cursor position for the active
Alt+cursor
for all 3 cursor types, PC, JAWS and invisible. When the virtual cursor is
active, those keys will give you a position, but I don't know what the position
represents. It may be the position in the virtual buffer, but of what use is
that? Even with reading stopped, I still can't route the JAWS cursor anywhere
near the correct screen position.

 Hello Rich,

You might want to check to see if your line and paragraphs indication is
turned off. Use JAWS key with V and type the word line (without the
quotes) in the search box. Use down arrow key to the lines and
 paragraphs
indication and if it is set to anything else but Off then press spacebar
until the Off option is chosen. Tab to the OK button and press spacebar.

The CTRL+Shift+8 keystroke toggles the state of the View All option so if
you used it thinking that the option was active when it wasn't then you
might have checked the option. To make sure it isn't checked, if you are
using Word 2007 or later use Alt followed by H and then use CTRL+right
 arrow
until you hear the Bullets button announced. Use tab key to the Show all
button and if it is not checked then press Alt key to leave the menu. If
 it
is checked use spacebar to remove the checkmark. In a version of Word
earlier than 2007 go into the tools menu and choose the Options choice.
 Go
to the View tab and make sure the Show All checkbox is not checked.

 Take care.

Hello Teresa,

I am not sure if you are importing a windows address book file or a comma
separated value file (.WAB or .CSV). The process is slightly different for
each of them. For the WAB file when you browse to it and use the Open
button the import starts immediately. For the .CSV file, after using the
Open button, you tab to the Next button and use spacebar. In the resulting
window there will be a list of 24 items that can be checked or unchecked.
Use up and down arrow keys in the list to move between items and spacebar to
check or remove checkmarks from fields. If the field is checked, it will be
included in the import. If you find a field in the list that is not checked
and you want it included then press spacebar. For example, if the Email
Address field is not checked then press spacebar to check the field. The
Change Mapping dialog might appear and you should use down arrow until you
find the entry for Email address to map it.If the Change Mapping dialog
appears and you choose the field from the list and tab one time you will get
a checkbox that should be checked for importing that field. Tab to the OK
button and use spacebar to dismiss the Change Mapping dialog if you had to
use it. Tab to the Finish button and use it to start the import.

If you still have a problem then perhaps there is something wrong with the
exported file.

I would offer to help you through tandem but unfortunately I am not
bilingual in Spanish and English. If you can't get it working feel free to
contact me off list at the Email address shown below and I'll try to help.
My daughters are fluent in Spanish.

[JAWS-Users] Question about IE 9

2013-05-20 Thread Shari
Hi listers,
I've been having problems with a few pages using IE 8 so just installed IE 9.
Now Jaws is just saying blank, blank, blank as I arrow through pages. If I use
Jaws key f7 I get the list of links and can click the one I want. Then Jaws
will read straight through the text, but if I interrupt, say, to try to read a
line again, then it's back to all blanks. Is there a setting or something I
need to change?

Thank you,
Shari

[JAWS-Users] upgrading ie 8

2013-05-20 Thread leonard morris
I am thinking about upgrading IE8 on my windows 7 32 bit laptop. I
am using Jaws v13. I want to upgrade to IE9 but I want to avoid
upgrading to IE10. If IE checks for updates will it try to get IE10
since that's the latest IE?

Hi,
If you have a version of JAWS earlier than 13, it will not work
with internet explorer 9. I had the same problem with JAWS 11 a
while back. I would recommend upgrading your JAWS software to
14. This will work perfectly.
