Hi All,

Go to Windows Updates open the change settings link. Tab to the, Find
Out More link, press enter or spacebar to open. This is the agreement for
the Microsoft Other Products Services Updater installer, something you'll
need to read through check a couple of boxes to install this Microsoft
Other Products updater. Once installed there 2 more options added to the
change settings options. They are below. You can read more about the
Microsoft Update services by clicking the, Privacy Statement Online link,
found in change settings.

Added option #1:

Give me updates for Microsoft products and check for new optional Microsoft
software when I update Windows, checkbox checked.

Added option #2:

Show me detailed notifications when new Microsoft software is available,
checkbox not checked

After I installed this updating option I received 16 more updates for Office
2010, Office 2007, MSSE. This included that huge update for Office 2010
that Lenny spoke of, almost 400 MB.

HTH
Take care.

2013-09-04 Thread Scorpio

Hi Rose,

You can hide updates like those that you don't want to install by pressing
your applications key, or shift+F10 if you don't have an applications key,
then arrow down to Hide Update, and press enter.

In theory, this should hide this update from that point on so it doesn't
show in the list.

I have done this with mixed results, as some days it works just fine, only
to have it come up again about a week later, but upon repeating the process
of hiding the update again, it finally takes the second or third time you
hide the update, as though Microsoft was finally getting the hint that you
don't want the update. LOL.

Please note, however, that when you enter on Hide the update, the update
won't disappear right at that moment, it will only keep the update from
being downloaded and installed. It will keep the update from showing up in
your list of updates on a subsequent Windows Update session.

Hope this helps.

[JAWS-Users] Windows defender on Windows 8

2013-09-04 Thread David Bailes
Hi Dwight,
On windows 8, unfortunately windows defender doesn't appear in the notification
area, making it harder to check its status. However, if it's running and it
detects problems, then I think you'll get notifications about this.
You can open windows defender by pressing windows key to go to the start
screen, type all or part of windows defender and press enter.
On the home tab, the status of windows defender is shown, but I can't figure
out how to get Jaws to read it. (but see below).
On the Settings tab there's a check box to indicate whether run-time protection
is switched on.
Back to Windows defender status. You can easily user narrator to read it,
without having to turn Jaws off:
1. Open windows defender. The initial focus in the scan button on the home tab.
2. Press ctrl+windows Key+U to start narrator.
3. Press caps lock key + right arrow to move to the next item, which is
normally the status, and should read your pc is being monitored and protected.
4. press ctrl+windows key + U to close narrator.
If you want to you can pin windows defender to the taskbar: when it's window it
open, press windows key + T until you get to the taskbar button for windows
defender, open its context menu, and choose pin this program to the taskbar.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Drop Box

2013-09-04 Thread Bill Pasco
Yes, it is storing your files in the cloud. You may have had trouble with
your EOS device, but the files are stored in the cloud. I access my
folders from about four different computers. Now, if you for some reason
are not on the internet, and sinked with Drop Box, then changes you make
on that local machine will not update to the cloud. Perhaps that was your
issue, I don't know. But I do know that Drop Box is a cloud based storage
system, one of several you can use.

no that's not right, cause like this is the first time it's been linked
with a cloud. if your referring to an IOS device that is. my desktop and
laptop were the only devices using drop box, just added the other today.

The reason you don't lose your files and folders is because they are all
stored in the cloud on remote servers, not on your local machine. So, once
you sign on, your account knows to sink up with whatever is showing on the
server.

Important 292.4 MB

Service Pack 2 for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB2687455) 32-Bit Edition

All input would be appreciated. Thanks much.
