[JAWS-Users] some internet buttons won't connect
i'm not sure if my subject is worded correctly, but on at least 2 websites i've been too, when i hit the space bar, or enter, to buy an item, nothing happens, even after waiting 30 seconds, and pressing the button again. is this a screen reader problem, because it does work when jaws isn't activated. any suggestions? jaws 12 For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
[JAWS-Users] Issue with exiting forms mode in jFW 15
Hello list, Ive been experiencing an weird issue for the past week or so with Jaws and wanted to know if others had come across it as well. When Im in a browser, be it IE or Firefox (running latest versions) and enter into forms mode and subsequently exit forms mode with the PC cursor button, I am taken to an entirely separate application window. This isnt always the case, but it is indeed more often than not. Ive always had the automatic forms mode feature disabled as I prefer to manually enter and exit edit fields on my own instead of being automatically placed into them. Like I said, Ive only been dealing with this problem for the past week or so. I am running the latest Jaws version. I dont recall changing any particular Jaws settings that could cause such a behavior. Any ideas? Thanks, For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

Disable the Virtual Cursor with JAWSKey+z, or use the JAWSKey+3 PassThrough key, and then press the ENTER kiey or the SPACEBAR or double left-click. Re: [JAWS-Users] some internet buttons won't connect
Tom, which sites, for example, are you trying to use? I have found that also, even though it may say something like add to bag button or something like that, when you press enter nothing happens. It is a website thing not compatable with screen readers, but I may be able to help. My boss thinks it has to do with java script, which we know plays havoc with jaws and which lots of internet sites like to use. Re: [JAWS-Users] some internet buttons won't connect
It is a combination of website coding and/or Jaws interaction. You are using a somewhat outdated version of Jaws, depending on what version of your browser. Some Considerations in No Particular Order: 1. You may need to left-click the button if you can find it with the Jaws cursor. 2. Occasionally, I've had to use a competitor's screen reader which will work with a feature of a website when Jaws will not. To be sure, there are sites where the other screen-reader won't work, but Jaws will. So, get a demo of another screen-reader for those occasions, or a free one like NVDA. 3. Try a different browser, Firefox instead of IE, for example 4. I think a few times in the past, I listed the form controls and clicked OK on the button I needed to activate. 5. A few times, I've used Jaws Convenient OCR successfully on some sites.
