Hi I use office 2013 and I have used it with JAWS 14 and JAWS 15 and find it
better with JAWS 15. First each time they fix JAWS it does make it better
with office 2013. I am a newer user of a computer so I use it with email and
word. Spell checker is better in email over word but you can use it in word.
Have you used 2010 or 2007 if so it has some of the same things but there is
more to 2013. If you are a person who likes to try new things I would say
try it but with the latest JAWS that is the best. I hope I have helped if
you have any questions ask and I will try to answer them.

Hi LeDon,

Between the main keyboard the numpad, at the top to the right of the the
F12 key, you have 3 buttons. From left to right Print Screen, Scroll Lock,
Pause. Below these 3 buttons is your 6 pack arrow keys. You can also
turn keyboard help on with the keystroke, Insert / Jaws key + 1 on the
number row, start pressing keys in the area explained above to have Jaws
tell you what the keys are that you're pressing. Insert / Jaws key + 1, is
a toggle so, this keystroke will also turn keyboard help off. HTH
Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 14 15 With MS Office 2013 365

2014-08-25 Thread Steve

Gary,

I don't have specific experiencce with Office 365. I don't know if it is
accurate to say Jaws 15 works best with Office 2013; I think the accurate
thing to say is Jaws 15 is the version of Jaws that works best with Office
2013.

I don't like the fact that I have to annually renew my subscription with
Office 365. Personally, unless there are features that you need in 2013
that aren't available in Office 2007/2010, I wouldn't feel the urge to
upgrade.

Also, and others who have more experience may chime in, but at one time,
there were issues with the Office 365 because Jaws had interpreted it as an
Internet Explorer process because of the cloud aspect of the program. The
regular Office 2013 edition did not have that component.

Voice Dream Reader can access files in DropBox. So, I just copy the PDF
files into the DropBox folder on my PC. Then they are synced to my iOS
device and I can then open them in Voice Dream Reader. For the last course
that I took, I received the textbooks in PDF format. I loaded them into VDR
and read them there. Much easier than reading them with Adobe Reader. Plus,
they are portable, so I can read or reference them on the go. Very handy.

FoxIt used to be accessible. But changes to the program have made it
inaccessible for at least three years now. If you have an iOS device, by
 far
the most reliable way to access a PDF document is using the Voice Dream

 put
longer PDF files into Voice Dream Reader and it makes reading them so much
 better.

My investigation reveals that the PDF documents I can read in Adobe

appears to be inaccessible to screen readers out-of-the-box.
Are you aware of any scripts or tricks/adjustments, that make documents

What other program do you use to find the podcast? If it's Internet
Explorer, instead of pressing ENTER on the selected item, go into the
context menu and choose Save Target As. (If Firefox, Save Link As.)

[JAWS-Users] punctuation

2014-08-25 Thread Robert Doc Wright
In earlier versions of Jaws I could open notepad and set how punctuations
are read specifically for this application and not have it affect any other
window. So, if I needed punctuations set to all for notepad and some for
everywhere else it was possible. Now, when I go to setting center for
notepad running jaws 14, the punctuation section states that I can only
change this while in default mode. Why was this changed?

If we can't look at ourselves, and ask, why? then where does the learning
start?

Re: [JAWS-Users] screen upside down

2014-08-25 Thread northstar1950
you could have used the pass-through command in jaws for this as
well, insert plus numrow 3 and then the alt plus ctrl plus up arrow.

Thanks so much for the help. This did work, but had to turn jaws
off first. Thanks again.

Hello Becky, the following should help you.
Rotating Screen

Press control plus alt plus any arrow key and your screen will
rotate. You will need sighted assistance to know when you have it
in the correct position, but this should work

Hi all.
I've been told my screen is showing upside down. How do I urn it
back to right side up? Using windows 7 and jaws 15.

Thanks for any help.

Becky

[JAWS-Users] jaws jumping to the bottom

2014-08-25 Thread leonard morris
I have noticed that the latest jaws v15 on my windows 7 64 bit laptop
will often jump to the bottom of a webpage and/or email when I am using
the say all command. I then have to relocate and find where I was last
reading.
