Re: [JAWS-Users] quick spell check question

2016-05-23 Thread Adrian Spratt
Kimsan,

I just tried to replicate your experience. With a draft message open, I press
insert-z to go to the virtual cursor, then the applications key. Immediately,
the word I deliberately mistyped appeared. I arrowed down the resulting list
and found various suggestions. However, when I tabbed, I landed on a button
labeled "Spelling..." When I pressed enter, the familiar spell-check dialog
came up. Just as the applications key brings up a hybrid, abbreviated menu, it
seems it does something similar with its version of spell-checker. But even
here, a tab or two takes you to the full version.

I hope I've reported that experience accurately. It's late and I'm tired. Even
if the details are slightly off, I've described what happened.

My response was to David.

My question was how come there isn't a change all in the context menu when
using the quick keys method, but there is when doing f 7 for spell check.
With the former, if you misspelled the same word over and over, lets say in
a 10 page doc that will take forever to make the changes.

[JAWS-Users] A text tutorial on using the win10 apps

2016-05-23 Thread David Moore
Hi all,
Today, I wrote up a text tutorial on how I figured out how to use the win10
Mail, Calendar, and People apps using JAWS and NVDA, in case anyone uses NVDA
as a back up screen reader. Also, in this tutorial, I discuss how I figured out
how to use the Edge browser by using the NVDA screen reader with object
navigation and using the mouse. NVDA has the ability to navigate with the
mouse. This is the only way that Edge is accessible is by using the NVDA screen
reader and the mouse. You can use JAWS to access the win10 Mail, Calendar, and
People apps easily by reading everything I figured out in the tutorial. This is
a Drop Box link that you can enter on and download the file right to your
computer. Here is the link.

[JAWS-Users] Adobe Reader Issues and some questions!

Hi all! How are you all? I have a windows 8.1 running JAWS 14 on it. For some
reason my Adobe reader is not working, and it is not reading my PDF files
correctly. I think another Adobe reader got install and it is not accessible
with JAWS 14. Now this is my first question, What is the latest Adobe
Reader version that works with JAWS14 and windows 8.1? I'm just wondering! And
my other question, after I download my adobe reader, what are the set ups I
need to select so that JAWS 14 is able to read the PDF file correctly? In
other words, all the pages, tables and so on. I just want to read my PDF
files for school again! I will really appreciate any help you guys can offer me
regarding this matter! I look forward in hearing from you soon. Thanks and God

Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 2016 no longer recognizing personal g-mail account

2016-05-23 Thread Humberto Rodriguez
Hello Tom:

I don't know, but I doubt it would make any difference, if I were you, I
would try modifying the account manually, taking care to go to the Advanced
tab and checking the ports and security. I just cannot think of anything
else that would prevent your connecting to Gmail, unless you changed your
geographic location; it has happened to me in the past that while
travelling, Gmail has prevented my logging in, mistaking the change of IP
address for an attempt to hack my account.

Hello Tom:

I have no idea why Outlook 2016 does not recognize your private Gmail
account, all I can tell you is that I have many domains and thus, many email
accounts and besides several in three different email servers and the one
from my ISP Windstream.net, I have one at Gmail that works perfectly in my
Outlook 2016.

I do not however, use the automatic configuration offered by Outlook for any
of my accounts, I prefer to configure them all manually with no problems.
Remember of course, that you should have POP3 authorized in Gmail before you
can Pop your messages, but if you did it before, I imagine you do.

Try doing it manually, remember to go to the Advanced tab to change the
ports and security.

Humberto

Hello.

I have been trying to get my new Windows 7 laptop to work correctly with
Office 365, and actually have been making good progress. However, I have
recently discovered that Outlook 2016 is no longer recognizing my personal
g-mail account.

It seems to recognize my University e-mail account ok, but not my personal
g-mail account.

Does anyone know why this sudden change might have occurred, and what I
should try to do to correct the situation?

I honestly can't think of anything I might have done to cause this.

Thanks for any suggestions anyone can provide.

Kimsan and Dave, I wonder if one of you would explain the question. Obviously,
you get it, Dave, and Kimsan is generally clear and concise. But in this case,
the question if just as mysterious to me as imponderables about JAWS, religion
and politics.

Re: [JAWS-Users] del xps13 function keys?

2016-05-23 Thread Jason White
While function keys are under discussion, I'll mention that the new laptop
which I'm
using at work has the function keys configured by default to operate in the
normal manner. If you want laptop-specific commands to be issued, you need to
hold down the FN key.

This laptop also has a numeric key pad, so you can run JAWS with desktop
layout. In addition, it has a touch screen. It's the best laptop for screen
reader users that I've encountered so far, as long as you don't mind the size
and the weight, although it isn't as heavy as I was expecting.

It's a Lenovo P50S (a very recent release). The storage is a 500GB SSD, which
is great for performance.

Hi Adam,

A sighted person who has this device has confirmed that you'll indeed
have to go into bios settings to change this.

Once done, the function keys should be normal.

Good luck!

Re: [JAWS-Users] Character under cursor repeatedly announced in command prompt windows - Windows 10/JAWS 17

Hi Jason,
there are no problems with having both Jaws and NVDA installed at the same time,

David.

original message:
Thank you. I've been considering this option. How well do JAWS and NVDA
co-exist on a Windows 10 machine - that is, are there any problems resulting
from having both installed at once? Obviously, only one of them can be running
at a time.

I'll need NVDA for work in order to test Web-based technologies anyway. Under
Windows 7, it didn't seem to cause any instability when installed alongside
JAWS.

Re: [JAWS-Users] del xps13 function keys?

2016-05-23 Thread Dialup

On most laptops, the function keys have dual functions.
There is the native function, for example, F1 is usually help.
However, when you combine Function keys with the F n key - usually found
in the bottom left corner near the CTRL key - you get a whole different
group of actions, depending on the brand of the laptop.

On my Clevo p650se, F n key + F5 / F6 affects the volume.

You might need to disable them in the bios...
