[JAWS-Users] JAWS and Itunes.

2016-07-27 Thread Justin McDevitt
Hello listmembers,

I may have presented this issue in a past post.

Within the past few days, I am no longer able to move songs around in recently
created Itunes playlists. Prior to this I used a command, (I believe Control-L)
(right arrow once and then down-arrow one time to songs, removing the Artwork
image. At this point, I would be able to move songs around.

An alternative is to copy the songs into a blank playlist, though having a
short-cut command per the above process) is handier than having to go through
this copy-paste step.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Best, Justin All

Hi Adrian,

In Word you can replace vertical tabs using the Find and Replace dialog box.
After using CTRL with h to launch the dialog box use ^11 in the Find What
edit control. The caret is shift with 6. If you want to replace the
vertical tab with a paragraph mark the use ^13 in the Replace With field.
Using ^32 in the Replace With field will replace the vertical tab with a
space.

Take care.

The times I most often encounter this problem are when I've copied text from
other sources into a document. Word inserts code that I can't always isolate
and identify. For example, I may have what looks like a two-return break,
but when I delete what I assume is one of the return characters, it remains
a two-line break. Sometimes I figure out that the culprit is the character
called a vertical tab. I wish I could search for that character and replace
it, but I haven't worked out how to, despite having done some online
research.

In any event, once an errant code enters a document, it can cause JAWS to
behave unpredictably. I'm in the habit now of checking each time I start
inserting text into the middle of a document.

Sometimes I refresh the screen with JAWS key+escape. I'm not sure if that
solves the problem, but I do think the action causes JAWS to pause and take
a breather. JAWS does have a tendency to get hyperactive.

JAWS 17, Win7, no braille display.

Wayne,

I'm afraid this is not very helpful, but I know exactly what you are talking
about because it has happened to me too and not just in Word. I've had the
same thing happen in Outlook. I'll be typing along then when I go back to
proof what I've written, I sometimes find portions of my text in a
completely different paragraph or line from where I intended.

I haven't been able to figure out any pattern regarding when this occurs
making it sort of random which is why I have never mentioned it on the list.
I had a half-baked theory that I was inadvertently hitting some key on my
Braille display that was causing the cursor to jump, but I just don't know.
Are you using a Braille display when this text jumping happens to you?

If anyone else has seen this behavior, I'd like to hear about your
experience. Maybe we can figure out what's going on and report it to FS or
whatever the heck they're calling themselves these days.

Hi

Well I stumbled across the solution to accessing the Public documents folder
on a Windows 10 system from Windows 7 and XP.

1. On the Windows 10 system, go to the Control Panel and then to Advanced
sharing settings.
2. Tab to All Networks and press enter.
3. Tab to the radio button that says turn on sharing ... for the Public
folders and check it.
4. Press alt+f4 to close the window.

I vaguely remember running across that setting when I first had a Windows 7
or 81. System.

[JAWS-Users] Maybe OT: Dropbox on a win7 computer with jaws

2016-07-27 Thread Kimber Gardner
Hi All,

If this is totally off-topic, please accept my apologies and respond
off-list if you can help.

I have been trying to use dropbox on my windows 7 laptop. The install
seemed to go okay as did starting up and syncing the first time I used
it to sync a file. Ever since -- at least until I uninstalled --
dropbox refused to open with the shortcut on the desktop. When I
looked in the systray, I saw that it was syncing, and syncing, and
syncing. Now I was only trying to transfer a single very tiny file, so
the sync should have not taken that long.

Does amyome have any ideas about what's going wrong here? I know lots
of people use dropbox very successfully and that I must be doing, or
not doing something.

Any help is appreciated.
