[JAWS-Users] Removing Add-ons in Firefox

2016-11-10 Thread wayne smith
Hello all-

I found an add-on for Firefox that removes cookies when a site tries to
plant them. It is called Self-Destructing Cookies. What I did not
anticipate is that JAWS announces every cookie that it destructs and it goes
on constantly. I need to either get rid of the add-on or keep JAWS from
announcing every cookie. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I am still using MS Word 2007. The key sequence is, Alt-J then l then v.
It gives you options on how you want to seperate items from the table after
it is gone.

For me this works... hope it does for you
Alt, then arrow to layout. Go past page layout, you want layout. Press enter

Shift tab twice to data something...
Enter
Tab twice I think to convert tables to text
Enter
Tab through to ok and enter
You can choose to put tabs between columns or other , I just stick with
tabs...
Hope this helps, if anymore questions feel free to ask...

Hi gang. I've read other lister expressing their satisfaction using VLC media
player with JAWS and I'm just not experiencing the same. Is there a guide to
using with JAWS? Much of the time, hitting the key or alt followed by another
letter such as T does nothing to bring up the menus. Tabbing while playing a
playlist for example, reads nothing. I can't find the keystroke to toggle
shuffle and or repeat play. Can't land on a field that lists all my songs in
the loaded playlist to arrow up/down the list of songs. Half or more of the
buttons which have occasionally been read have no labels.
It seems like a poor program to use with JAWS. All I want to do is play one or
multiple mp3 files.

Hi Adrian,

I will definitely check out the sources you provided. The document is a
newsletter so I don't think the copy and paste thing is viable because all
the formatting would be messed up. I actually want to send the newsletter to
someone who is only supposed to make hard copies not edit, as was the case
the last time.

Probably more than you needed to know but thanks again,

Hi, Norma. I can think of two ways of answering your question. If you want
to stop someone from tampering with your document, that's one thing.
However, it's always possible for someone to copy the text and paste it into
a separate file once they have access to that text.

On how to protect the file from someone else making changes, I hope you'll

[JAWS-Users] JAWS 18, no check fo updatees...

2016-11-10 Thread Barry G
Hi, I am running JAWS 18 professional on a windows 10 machine at work and on
a windows 10 machine at home, both 64-bit.When I tgo tto check for
updates in the Jaws software, this option is greyed out on both machines.

I phoned Sight and Sound and was told that this was due to a firewall
setting on my computer; however, one machine is in my office in the
university at which I work, the other being in my home. Both machines had
no difficulty with firewalls in V17. Am I losing the plot or does anyone
have any suggestions please?

All the best,

2016-11-10 Thread Mr. Ed
Hi Fred,
Doing this reset in IE should not cause any issues with anything else on
your pc. Follow the instructions that that other person gave you but here
are a couple things he missed.
After you press enter on the advance tab you have to tab twice to get to the
reset button. Then after you press enter on the reset button another box
will come up. Tab once then press the spacebar once to put a check mark in
to have all personal setting like history and add on deleted. Then tab to
the reset button an press reset. It will only take just a second to reset IE
after you press the reset button. Then after the reset close IE and restart
it and see if it works better for you.

Mr Ed, how do you reset IE 11? I really like IE 11 but jaws is continually
telling me that IE 11 has stopped working and is looking for a solution to
the problem. No solution is ever found. I have suspected that it might be
a setting problem someplace but I never find it.

Re: [JAWS-Users] internet explorer 11

2016-11-10 Thread Michael B.
Hi All,

>From the website Adrian posted, these 3 questions & answers should clear
things up:

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Microsoft Edge?

Microsoft Edge is our all-new browser for Windows 10, that goes beyond
browsing with features like Web Note and Cortana1 integration. Microsoft
Edge can
launch Internet Explorer 11 for sites that need better backward
compatibility. Internet Explorer 11 will continue to be supported on Windows
10.

How long will the most current version of Internet Explorer remain
supported?

Internet Explorer is a component of the Windows operating system and the
most current version will continue to follow the specific support lifecycle
policy
for the operating system on which it is installed. Internet Explorer 11 will
be supported for the life of Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10. To
find
the support lifecycle dates for all operating systems, search the Support
Lifecycle Database
here.

Does this mean Microsoft is changing the support lifecycle policy for
Internet Explorer?

The latest version of Internet Explorer will continue to follow the
component policy, which means that it follows the support lifecycle and is
supported
for as long as the Windows operating system on which it is installed.
Focusing support on the latest version of Internet Explorer for a supported
Windows
operating system is in line with industry standards.

Take care.
Mike

Why don't you stop giving out false information? You don't know what you're
talking about. MS is still supporting IE 11, which, by the way, remains the
leading browser in terms of market share, through January 2020, when support
for Windows 7 ends. MS will continue to provide security updates for IE 11
as needed, and has not dropped support, as you claim.

Hello Miriam
I'm not saying it's been 'dropped', rather it is no longer supported which
at the moment probably means IE 11 still works most of the time, but in the
very near future, my opinion is that it will become less stable across the
internet as web page devs stop maintaining code specifically designed to
account for IE idiosyncrasies.

will the edge. work with windows 8.1

Re: [JAWS-Users] internet explorer 11
Sorry Anna.
Microsoft has a new internet browser called edge.
Internet Explorer is no longer microsoft's preferred browser so
appears not be be getting any worthwhile updates from microsoft.

I have personally found IE 11 to be very unstable and unreliable.
You may have a different experience.
Lots of list members report accessibility issues with edge.
Hope this helps.

Edge is the browser that comes with the current version of Windows, and MS
is trying to get folks to use it.
