Re: [JAWS-Users] Nod 32 appears accessible with screen readers

2018-01-14 Thread Vicki W.
Do you need Windows 10 for this version? I have Windows 7 and I keep getting
the message that Windows operating system is not up to date from Nod32. The
only thing I had to update was Defender and when I went to Windows update
website, there were no important updates.

Thanks.

Re: [JAWS-Users] which jaws?

2018-01-14 Thread Dave...Oregonian
JAWS 2018 is the latest version; JAWS 18 was released in 2017. FS decided to
try and remove the confusion they caused.

A major paradigm shift in how JAWS works "under the hood" took place between
JAWS 16 and JAWS 17. And frankly I've been less than satisfied with JAWS
performance since then. Some very slow reactions to simple JAWS commands,
which used to be very responsive. So I often unload 2018 and go back to
version 16, just to get things done sooner.

Re: [JAWS-Users] How to indent the paragraph in MS word 2007?

2018-01-14 Thread Jason White
I would just modify the "normal style" (or create and apply a new paragraph
style) and specify the desired indentation there.

I wouldn't manually change the indentationm of all the paragraphs in a document

HI, Fernando.

In the US English version of MS Word, control-f is the find command and
control-h the "search and replace" command.

Control-m, which I believe is the US English counterpart of your Spanish
control-f, indents at the left side. However, it doesn't allow for the specific
increments that the paragraph dialog makes possible.

Reference to a "hanging" indent may be confusing here. I don't believe it's
what Mohib is looking for.

I know of no keystroke for moving a document's right margin farther in other
than the paragraph dialog I described earlier.

Nice explanation of how the tab key works, or doesn't work, here.

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] How to indent the paragraph in MS word 2007?

Hi Mohib,

At least in Spanish, there are keystrokes for hanging the text in two different
preset ways, specifically CTRL+F and CTRL+H. I say at least in Spanish, because
unlike in other languages Microsoft localized a lot of the keyboard shortcuts
in Office Spanish versions, and may not be the same in English.
To know exactly what keystrokes are used in English for this, taking advantage
of the fact that JAWS provides feedback when pressing these commands, I suggest
you to check in the Word JAWS key map file with the JAWS Keyboard Manager
(press INSERT+8 witting Word) what keystrokes are assigned to the scripts
Indent and HangingIndent. You can also see Word keyboard shortcuts help topic
that is probably even more accurate than in Spanish, but this will take you
more time.

Regarding the use of TAB, it is normal that the text disappears if selected
when you press that key, because in edit areas outside dialog boxes it is often
treated as any other character. You should instead place at the top of the
paragraphs or lines you want to indent before pressing TAB.

Another thing you can do is to press the Increase Indent button in the
Paragraph group on the Home tab. This command has no hot key by default, but
you can either add the command to the Quick Access Toolbar or assign a keyboard
shortcut to it. If you add it to the Quick Access Toolbar, you will be able to
quickly activate it by pressing ALT plus the number this item is in the Quick
Access Toolbar, provided that it is in a position minor than 10.

Justin, yes control+1 did the trick for single line spacing, but I don't know
why after selecting the desired block of text in the paragraph, pressing tab
key is making the text disappeared.
Adrian, yes that procedure is working fine, but it will take lots of time as I
have to indent block of text almost at each page in a 150
pages document. So I was looking for a key stroke or key combination
to accomplish the task.

Fred,

If you have JAWS 16 or newer, you have access to flexible web. See how it's
done by visiting the FS web site. It's complicated, but should resolve your
issues.

I am using W10, latest jaws and chrome browser and
I would like to know if there is a way to skip
over adds while reading or searching the
innernet. It sure would be nice to be able to do
this

Thanks much,.
