We use it in a business model all the time.
It is very accessible with JAWS and I am thankful.

That is what my initial search revealed to me as well. I heard a pod cast this
morning from the apple team and they said they were using it so obviously it
must be accessible. Guess I'll have to take the plunge.

Hi David,
When I've checked it a while ago it had a 40 minutes limit on group calls.
only 1 on 1 calls are truly free.
that's for the free subscription.
Not good enough for me.

[JAWS-Users] Hidden columns in Excel

2018-02-07 Thread Chad Brown
Hello,
I am working on a project to determine if JAWS will show up a hidden column in
Excel or not.
When I open up the document initially I am able to see the column.
If I arrow or tab away however, the row will be hidden.
Is this normal from excel 2010?
Thank you

Hi, Chad. I'm assuming your student is using JAWS and that you're working with
JAWS to find the solution. PDF files need to be set up specifically for
accessibility. Here's a short list of instructions compiled from posts by Mike
B and Gerald Levy, members of this list. Note that you must be in the Adobe or
Acrobat application to make these adjustments:

1. Go into preferences with control-k. JAWS lands on an item in a tree view. If
you have been here before, it will be the item you last opened. Arrow down to
Security Enhanced. Note that this is the item below Security. Then uncheck
Enable Protected Mode at startup, Note. When making changes in the Security
Enhanced section, you will be told that Adobe needs to be restarted, but you
can wait to finish the other changes first.
2. Launch the Edit menu, scroll down to the Accessibility submenu and open it.
Scroll down to the Set up Assistant and press enter. The Set Up Assistant has
five screens, but the only change you have to make is on the Last, screen 5 of
5. Go through all the screens, pressing spacebar on Next in each instance,
until you reach the fifth and final screen. Here, tab to the check box labeled
"Open PDF documents in the browser" and make sure that it is unchecked. It may
be checked by default. Then tab to the Okay button.

Interestingly enough I am experiencing the same problem on my Windows 10
computer that I upgraded from Windows 7. I have another computer still using
Windows 7 and the shortcut or hot key for Jaws still works. Below is a work
around I got from another list.

1. Do a windows+M key to go to the desktop
2. Hit the home key to go to the first icon on your desktop.
3. Hit the letter J and you should be on Jaws 16 if you have it
installed. If not then you should be on Jaws 17 if you do not have any other
icon starting with j. If you have Jaws 16 and Jaws 17 loaded then hit the j
twice to get to Jaws 17.
4. Hit enter key and Jaws will load.

I have the latest JAWS and have Windows 8.1.

This problem only started a couple of days ago and nothing had been installed
or deleted from the computer. The hot key had been working just fine.

I had been on a website and I was trying to purchase something and it wasn't
working too well so I turned off JAWS with the insert+F4 and when I went to use
Control+Alt+j it wouldn't work. I did wait for several seconds and nothing
happened. I tried using the hot key again a few times and nothing.

I went to see if the hot key was still there and it's there. I've turned off
the computer and also restarted it but the hot key still doesn't work. If I try
to delete the hot key and re-enter it, for some reason I'm taken off the JAWS
screen and taken to the Desktop and I have to go back to JAWS in the taskbar
and no matter if I try and re-enter the hot key again, it still takes me to the
Desktop.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me please?

Thank you,

Melissa
