[JAWS-Users] IE 9 Questions With Jaws 12
Hi all, I would like to ask a couple or more questions regarding the use of Jaws 12 and IE9. 1. Currently I have Jaws Version 12.0.525 and I know there is a newer build but I don't know the number but my point is if I upgrade to this newer build of Jaws 12, will it support IE9 before the new build came out I tryed using IE9 with my current build of jaws alas to negative results in anycase I went back to IE 8. 2. On the subject of going back to a previous IE version I have forgotten how to do it so I am asking if I go ahead and upgrade to IE9 and it doesn't work with the new build of Jaws 12, how do I rroll back to IE 8. Also if I do upgrade to IE 9 my 1st question normally is it faster than the previous one in this case IE8 and is there anything that I should be aware of while performing the upgrades. Oh I almost forgot does IE9 have the dreaded ribbons. Just so you all know I am running Windows Vista Home Premium. I look forward to hearing from all you jaws users! Hi do a google search for Microsoft Security Essentials works very well with jaws. Also I'd recommend Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware just to keep your system even more protectave. These are the two programmes I use and they are both free. I hope this helps you. Re: [JAWS-Users] Adobe Flash Player Update
\Hi which programme do you download to get flash updates? I to have been doing it from the system tray and its just a pain. I never really know weather its been updated or not. The reason I try to update it is because they adobie say that they are planning to enhance support for voiceover users who use the apple Mac OS and this is also ment to enhance the support for windows. I don't know how long it will take them but I hope it all becomes worth while waiting for. I get fed up of things like unlabled buttons all the time! lol A perfect example of this is my WI FI because when I needed to top up my credit on my laptop with the network 3, there were a series of unlabled buttons and to cut a long story short I had to click on each of these buttons to ask how I wanted to top up the number on the reseat and then finally the process of claming my credit to use my WI FIso there you go a perfect example of Unlabled buttons to get some 10 pounds on my WI FI to work and itwould be great if Flash became more accessable. Anyway just thought I'd share that example to point out howscreenreader users miss out on things and it can sometimes be thoes things that we need to access. Let me know what you all think. And it would be interesting to hear from you all having different issues with flash. I think that would be a different subject though but never the less I would be interested to see other people on this explain how they would need to use the flash player. Hi everyone, my subject line says it all. Can anyone tell me the email address which addresses problems/issues with Jaws for freedom sciantific? [JAWS-Users] Discovery with unread messages in windows live mail on swiching theams with jaws
hello everyone, as my subject line says I think I have made a discovery when changing theams with Jaws in Vista its interesting. Ok hear it goes. Note this is windows live mail not outlook and using latest build of Jaws 11. Ok well as some of you might know with one of the jaws builds of jaws 11 we now have jaws saying when a message is unread in windows live mail. Chris I remember you saying you changed your setting to windows classic which I did I can't remember the reason why I did this but it was better. But hear's the interesting part. When someone changes there theam from Vista to windows classic, an when you know in windows live mail that you have an unread message for some interesting reason Jaws doesn't announce unread. How weird is that. So effetcaly its like going back to the build that didn't have the unread announcement before the message. I know that some people might be thinking so what a big deal it doesn't matter. But I'd just thought I'd mention it in case anyone on this list has changed there windows theam and has incountered the thing I have. I have changed my theame back to vista and Jaws started reading unread again. Has anyone else notice this with jaws. I'm cureious? Hope to hear some feedback from you all on this weird but not so much of a big deal problem. lol Daniel For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
[JAWS-Users] Problem with latest Jaws in windows live mail when arrowing through messages with alt left arrow
Hello everyone, I'll try and keep this nice and simple. Basicly if you read the subjectline it basicly says it all. Have anyone notice this lately in the latest version of Jaws. I thought all my problems were gone when I got the latest update of Jaws 11 this month. lol I can prove this because when I am checking my mailing lists what I do is hit enter on the bottom of the unread message then jaws says from then the subject then goes on to read how many links in the email then would normally read the text of the message. But every now and then jaws finds a message and for some weird reason won't read the body of the message. After this I tryed using NVDA and it red the message that jaws was unable to read. So don't know what's going on there. Have anyone else notice this issue with live mail? Using latest build of jaws 11 and the windows live mail 2009 version. Hope to hear some comments soon. Because if you go to a message to read it and hit enter on that message and say you want to arrow around well you will get no feedback until you have turned it back on. I'll admit when I 1st started using windows live mail and incounted this issue I was really stuck and had to do alot of shift tabing and tabing to finally get into the message to type away. And it could be a long process or a short one. and just by chance I pulled this keystroke from memory and it hasn't let me down yet! The reason I am writing about this is because it might happen to someone else and if they was like me and completly stump and didn't have a clue what to do well I hope this keystroke will come in handy for all you people! I know it did for me! If any one has got any more tips for windows live mail then I would love to hear them! I mean that's what part of life is isn't it? For people to help each other! Many Thanks. Yes, I get that as well on my Windows 7 computer. I also get annoyed that it does not announce autocompletion canidates in address fields, several of the scripts, Alt + 1 through 6, to get to header fields do not work, the Folder pane does not accept first character navigation, and sometimes it refuses to go into forms mode when composing mail. And all of these annoyances are using JAWS 10! The JAWS 11 scripts are so bad, I have to switch back to version just to read mail! Hi everyone, I subject line says it all. Let me explain. I was just wondering has anyone notice this? I don't know if its a Jaws issue or a wlm issue but hear it goes. Basicly when I am looking at a message say for example in this mailing list, and I want to go onto the next one. I would hit alt then left arrow to move to the next unread message and jaws moves to it. But hear is the slight problem sometimes or quite a lot I can't define how offten it happens because its very ramdom but jaws will focus on the contact button so then I have to shift tab to hear the message. I don't know if its a problem for some people but sometimes I find it a little fustrating. Just cureious if anyone has notice this as well. [JAWS-Users] new member and have a question about saving an mp3 wma extentions like that in internet explorer 8
Hello everybody, I am a new member of this list my name is Daniel. I realise that this might be off topic but I would really like it if someone could give me sergestions instead of saying this is not a jaws related question and there for it wouldn't be answered because simply I don't know where else to go to get help with this question. Well with that out of the way lets begin! With out beating around the bush, its to do with a certain file extention. Basicly ones like .zip .exe and ones that are not music related are fine. By this lets say for example I wanted to download the latest demo of Jaws so I go to that website find the jaws version I want and when I hit enter on it a dialog box comes up asking weather I want to run, save or cancel. So I have a choice in what I want to do. Now comes my problem that I am having. Basicly if its a music extention such as .mp3 .wma and proably loads of more that I have not heard of. But if lets say I go to the website blind cool tech all of them are audio files that you can download. Well when ever I hit enter on one of them windows media player which is my default player to play things just comes up I don't get the dialog box asking weather I want to open, save or cancel. The only way at present I can download these types of files is going to the link hitting the apps key on it and going down to save target as then a save as dialog box comes up and I hit enter and that saves the file. But is there a way to get windows media player and its extentions to behave as for example as the .exe .zip extentions? I know this proably is a tough question to answer and to be fixed for me but please I would be greatful if someone could give me advice on how to resolve it. Many Thanks A new member.
