Re: [JAWS-Users] Serious problems when reading .txt files

2009-12-09 Thread Frederick White
Seasons greetings,

My name is Fred, and I have been a Jaws users member for a little
over a year or so. When I first started out I posted an email introducing
myself to everyone. One of the responses I received was from a person name
Greg and he indicated that he was from Hamilton Ohio which is where I'm from
also. Are you the same Greg? If so email me back and let me know. Thanks!

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Serious problems when reading .txt files

Hello all,
I am running JAWS 11 on an acer netbook with windows7 starter edition.
When I am trying to read the text in a .txt file JAWS does not read it
write. As I move forward through the document it will get to a line of
text and say blank like there is nothing there. Also when I try to go
back through a text document it is as if the text has disappeared. I
have tried using notepad, as well as akel pad, and have the same problem
with both. Now, when I try to open the documents in Microsoft word it
is like there is no text at all. Any suggestions on what might be
causing these problems and what to try to fix it will be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Greg W.

[JAWS-Users] web sites for blind guitar players

2009-10-18 Thread Frederick White
Greetings everyone,

It has been a while but, Fast Freddy is on the move again. It is my heart
felt prayer that all of my jaws users frends have all been in good helth and
in good spirits.

The reason that I'm writing today is to ask if anyone knows of
any web sites for blind guitar players, or any sites where blind guitar
players can get access to chords for songs. I do not read brail so, the
sites have to be audible sites and jaws friendly. Thanks in advance. Blue
skies and green lights.

With great power comes great responsibility.

Sincerely yours,

Fred

[JAWS-Users] accessible guitar scale for the blind

2009-08-27 Thread Frederick White
Greetings everyone,

It is my heart felt prayer that this message finds everyone in good health
and in good spirits. I'm writing today to find out if anyone knows of a jaws
friendly web site where a blind person can go to learn guitar scales for
playing lead guitar. I've started Playing my guitar again and this time I
plan to stick to it. I played guitar for several years before I went blind.
After losing my sight I kind of just layed my guitar down. After a few years
had passed, I tried picking it up again but I quickly put it back down
again. But, I am at it again and this time it is with a vengeance. I've been
practicing day and night. Now all I need is to find a blind friendly site to
get some lead scales or patterns so as to add more color to my style of
pplaying. I truely hope there is someone out there who can direct me to
where I need to go. until I here from someone, happy trails, and blue skies
and green lights.

With great power comes great responsibility.

Sincerely yours,

Fred

Re: [JAWS-Users] internet radio and music web sites

2009-07-20 Thread Frederick White
Greetings Angel,
A few days ago I responded to your message concerning using internet
radio. I indicated that I was having trouble adjusting the volume after
bringing up a radio station, specificly , when I was working in Microsoft
word. I was having trouble adjusting the volume so that I could heare what I
was typing.
You may have responded to my message but, I had been away for a few
days and when I finally got back to my computer to check my messeages I
had about 250 messages. When I get a message load like this I become over
whelmed and usually I just delete all or most of this huge message pile and
just start all over again . Anyway, I am writing you today to ask you to
respond to my earlier message again. Thanks in advance. Blue skies and green
lights.radoi

Once you connect with vtuner, pres the letter c. This will put you in to
the first combo box. Press c again, and you will be shown another combo
box. press enter on whichever combo box you choose. you will be placed on
the first choice for that combo box. Press alt down arrow at the same time.

This enables you to access all the choices in the combo box. Choose the one

you want. and press enter. Press the insert or Jaws key and enter at the
same time twice. You will be shown how many stations were found. Choose
the station you want. Arrow down to play. You can use the jaws feature to
move to that link. This is only an option. As you can activate the play
link from vtuner itself, which is the Jaws key, insert f 7, tab once to move

to link. You can press the applications key to the left of the control key
on the rite side of your keyboard, and arrow down to save target as. You
can download this shortcut to the station to wherever you want on your
computer. I hope this helps. There are perhaps easier ways to do the same
thing, but, this is how I do it. You can save these short cuts and use them

in future without going to the site itself.

Hello Alan,

It depends which version of roxio easy cd creater you have, as some of
the versions are less accessible than others.

Unfortunately I cannot recall which, but I know that a friend used an
earlier version, due to more graphics and thus less accessibility in
some later version and that was already more than two years ago.

If you only want to write data cd's, copy and paste and confirmation
thereof in the normal windows own applications, would still be the
easiest.

reviewing my email messages looking for the tutorials. Sadly so far they
have not appeared. I think another way you could send me the tutorial, is to
copy it and then paste it toin the message itself, and that way it will not
be an attachment and should not have any jproblems getting through. I also
had problems trying to understand the name of the sender of the message. I
hope you will attempt to contact me again. Thanks in advance. Blue skies and

is somewhere I can go on the web to find step by step instructions on how to
use the appointments and contacts features in outlook 2003. I really want to
learn how to use this program to the fullest. So, If anyone out there can
give me any directions or guidance it would be gladly appreciated.

Thanks in advance! Blue skies and green lights!

I received your message indicating you were sorry for not giving me your
email but you did not leave it in your reply either. Also, there was no
tutorial attached to your last message. Some how we are getting our wires
crossed. I'm not using jaws 10, I'm using jaws 9so, I suppose the key stroke
you talked about doesn't work with my computer. But I'm still very intrested
in that detailed tutorial. So, please keep trying to get it to me. If first
you don't succeed, try try again. Blue skies and green lights.

Ok! Gerald,
You are working with a rookie here, how do I unload jaws 9 and then
launch jaws 8, and then how do I get jaws 9 back when I want it back again.

You cannot run two different versions of JAWS at the same time. So if you
want to switch from JAWS 9 to JAWS 8, you must first unload JAWS 9 and then
launch JAWS 8.

Greetings everyone,

It is friendly Freddy again and today I have some questions about Easy Media
Creator 10.

I have been trying to burn a movie file that I have on my
computer to a dvd using Easy Media Creator 10 but I can not seem to figure
out quite how to do it.

Here are some of the steps I have tried.

1. I Go to the desktop, select the EZ CD Creator shortcut, and press
enter.
2. When I'm in Easy Media Creator 10, I go to the file menu, select new
project, and press enter. 3. then I arrow to video and then press enter.

4. Then I arrow to compile dvds and movies and press enter. After I do step
4, a screen comes in to focus that jaws does not read, and when I hit the
jaws key and t key together jaws says,Roxio video copy and converteren.

[JAWS-Users] EZ media creator 10

2009-04-23 Thread Frederick White
Greetings everyone,

It is friendly Freddy again and today I have some questions about Easy Media
Creator 10

I have been trying to burn movie files from my computer to dvds
using roxio easy media creator 10. I have managed (with great difficulty)to
figure out how to do it using a long drawn out process.

So, I'm writing today to ask if anyone can share with me a
easier way to do things.

Here are the steps I ampresently using.

1. I Go to the desktop, select the EZ CD Creator shortcut, and press
enter.

2. I then tab to copy dvds and press enter. 3 I wait for a minute and
a screen comes in to focus and says, roxio video copy and convert. At this
point using the tab keys left and right arrow keys, or up and down arrow
keys don't work anymore, this is step 4 . So, to continue to navigate the
screen in focus, I have to press the minus key on the number pad and
activate the jaws curcer, this is step 5 . step 6after activating the jaws
curcer then hit control plus the home key to go to the top of the screen. 7.
then hit the insert plus the right arrow key to locate the source dialog
box. 8.. down arrow to you get to a graphic labeled e:-hl-dt-st - dvd-rw
gsa-h11n, and make sure the jaws curcer is resting right on the letter e at
the beginning of the graphic and then gdo a left mouse simulated click by
using the / key on the number pad. 9 hold down the control key and hit the
home key on the number padto go to the top of the screen , and then hold
down the insert key on the number pad and hit the right arrow key until you
llocate a graphic labeled browse and make sure the jaws curser is resting on
the letter b of the word browse, and then do a left simulated mouse click
using the / key on the number pad. 10 Hit the plus key onumber pad to
activate the jaws curser. 11 Hit the tab key to bring up the treview. 12 use
the up and down arrows the files and select the folder that your movies are
stored in and hit the right arrow key to open the folder. 13 go down the
list and select the movie you want and pres enter. 14 hit the minus key on
the number pad again to activate the jaws curcer and hold down the control
plus the home key on the number pad to go to the top of the screen . 15 hold
down the insert key on the number pad and then hit the right arrow key until
you locate the copy graphic and do a left simulated mouse click. Make sure
you have a disk already inserted . I pray that there is someone out there
who uses media creator 10 and can help me out. Thanks in advance. Blue skies
and green lights.

Fred

Re: [JAWS-Users] theophilo 3

2009-04-15 Thread Frederick White
Theophilos Bible Program
Theophilos Bible Program is a multilingual application for Bible and
Christian study with multimedia features. It contains facilities for
comparing versions of Bible verses, looking up words in Bible dictionaries,
reading Commentaries, managing notes and much more. Please visit
http://www.theophilos.sk for more information on Theophilos Bible Program
.

For those of us who use our sight to read all information from the printed
pages or computer screen is sometimes difficult to understand the needs of
those who can't. Yet even the visually impaired want to enjoy the Word of
God and to study the depth of its wisdom and truth. Modern computer
technology makes this possible through sophisticated screen reader systems
one of which is Jaws for Windows from Freedom Scientific Inc. (formerly
Henter-Joyce, Inc.). This system allows a blind user to read the content of
the screen in audible form. We have contacted Henter-Joyce to test
Theophilos with their system and it has been found compatible with Jaws for
Windows (JFW). Many of our users who use this reader system are already
enjoying the power and ease of use of Theophilos Bible Software. While there
is no additional software necessary to use Theophilos with JFW, its use can
be made even more enjoyable with special script files. Theophilos may at
first seem a little intimidating with the wealth of functions and options.
For this reason we cooperate with technical staff of Henter-Joyce and one of
our blind users who created the script and help files that will introduce
Theophilos to the visually impaired user and teach him or her to use our
software in the most effective way. Please note that you must have Jaws for
Windows version 3.2 or higher installed on your computer system

Donny Here's the info you requested. This bible program is really great.
What parts I can navigate I really enjoy. I'm a rookie jaws user and
sometimes I have a hard time figuring things out. But, you sound like you
have been using your computer for a while. So, since this software is
suppose to be very jaws friendly, you shouldn't have to much of a problem
figuring things out. If this is the case I hope you will get back with me to
share with me what you have learned. Happy trails! Blue skies and green
lights

Greetings Fena Curry, I discovered a web site called watch - movies-link.net
and it is a site with a catalog of movies that you, me, or anyone can watch
for free. I have only been a jaws user for about 18 months and I still
consider myself some what of a rookie. I don't have any problems pulling up
this particular web site but, I am having alittle trouble selecting and
playing a movie. Maybe If I drop a link to the site into this email, you can
go check it out and figure out how to navigate it with jaws and get back
with me with a few tips. Here is the link to the site:

Greetings from friendly Freddy,
You are some what right, you are missing something. And the
something is; that when using a laptop, the jaws commands are alittle
different. Here are a few tables with jaws commands for laptops. If you
listen closely, I think down towards the end of this message you will find
the jaws key command for help. Another suggestion is to hit control plus the
F key to bring up the find and replace dialog box, and then type in the word
help and then hit the enter key. Hit f3 twice and then hit the escape key
and this should bring you to where you want to be. Just use your insert plus
right arrow key, or your insert plus down arrow key to begin reading. Happy
reding!
Laptop Keystrokes
This section contains information on keystrokes specific to the Laptop
keyboard layout. The keyboard layout can be changed in the JAWS Application
Window under the Options menu, in the Basics dialog. Few Laptop systems have
keyboards with a number pad, so many of these functions have been shifted to
the main section of the keyboard. Many of the keystrokes are not much
different from the Desktop keyboard layout. Only those that are totally
different are listed here.

The other keystrokes are all listed in the Desktop keystrokes section. When
using the Laptop keyboard layout, just substitute the CAPS LOCK key for the
INSERT key. For most of those keystrokes, the INSERT key works as well,
however, you may find the CAPS LOCK key is a very easy to use substitute.

Note: MAGic allows you to select which key is used as the MAGic Key. Since
JAWS now provides the same flexibility for the JAWS Key, when the two
products are used together, it is important that the MAGic Key and the JAWS
key are not assigned to the same key. If they are assigned to the same key,
any JAWS commands assigned to a key combination using the JAWS Key are not
activated when the key combination is pressed.

Even if you use a desktop system or keyboard, you may wish to try the Laptop
keyboard layout. When using the Laptop keyboard layout, most of your
commands are right at your fingertips - as you type - so you do not need to
continually switch your right hand to the number pad and back to the main
section of your keyboard

we just search collect movie files from the internet, therefore we can't

constantly

Greetings Tim,
I need more detailed info, How do you enable flash? How do you click
on to a movie using jaws? And how do you click on parts? I have only been a
jaws user for about 18 months, and I still consider myself a rookie. so you
see when dealing with me you have to be alittle more detailed with your
info. But, I'm really the eager beaver. So please get back with me.

2009-02-01 Thread Frederick White
Greetings Lori,
The answer to your question is yes, HJPad Is in jaws 8.0. If you
can find a version of jaws 8.0 all you have to do is to bring jaws into
focus and then hit ult plus h this will bring up the jaws help context menu.
Next, Hit t or arrow to training, then hit j or arrow to jaws basic training
and then hit hfor HJPad or arrow to it and hit enter and Dan Clark will tell
you everything you want to know about HJPad. These keystrokes also work in
jaws version 9 . I hope this helps you out.
Blue skies and green lights!

Re: [JAWS-Users] New Member

2009-01-29 Thread Frederick White
Greetings,
My name is Fred and I'm also a new member . I live in Hamilton Ohio
which is about 27 miles north of Cincinnati. I have been a jaws user since
September of 2007. When I started out I knew just about nothing about
computers. I learned how to type using talking typing teacher, and I learned
how to use jaws from a computer instructor from Clovernook Center For The
Blind located in Cincinnati ohio. I started out with jaws 8.0,and then went
on to jaws 9. I have a copy of jaws 10 but I have yet to install it, because
I'm so comfortable with what I've got, and based on what I've been hearing
from you guys on some of the problems you have been having. I think I made a
pretty wise decision. I guess I'll wait alittle while and continue reading
everyones email on the subject and then maybe i will install it when it is
cool. Can you dig it? Anyway, I am still a rookie, and I get stuck on this
and that all the time. Sometimes I'm up all night trying to figure this or
that out. And sometimes it takes me days to figure out things. I am really
glad to have finally found you guys to sometimes help me out and I hope I
can be of help to one of you aalso. Well, guys and girls I just wanted to
introduce myself. Blue skies and green lights!

Re: [JAWS-Users] Unzipping a zipped book from the bookshare re-vamp website

2009-01-14 Thread Frederick White
Bookshare's re-vamped site does not use the unpack tool any more.
I'm still stuck and I am still looking for help.
Is anyone out there using Bookshare.

I have not downloaded a book since they updated their web site. But prior
to this, and it is probably still the case, you have to down load their
unpack tool. Once you get the download tool installed, you just select
the book file from either My Documents or where ever you have it saved.
This will automatically open the unpack tool and you just follow the
prompts/dialog boxes.

HTH,
Annette
