have a couple of questions about the set up.
I said no to the accelerators and yes to the Smart filters. I'm wondering

 Hi,

The JAWS cursor is similar to a mouse. The mouse does not move when you
press tab, so no you can't. The pc cursor, which is the windows carrot,
 does
 move though.
TO put your mouse where your pc cursor is, press numpad insert with numpad
dash. I forget what it is for laptops.

Yep. I route JAWS to PC all the time.

On the other hand, if I know there's something the JAWS cursor is seeing
that the PC cursor should have focused on, I'll route PC to JAWS as a way
 to
make it focus on the item if I can't get focus restored by alt+tabbing.

Actually, I find myself doing mostly the latter. The JAWS cursor can go
to areas of the screen that the PC cursor doesn't, so sometimes the
control that you seek can be found a lot easier with the JAWS cursor.

Is there anyone on the list using iTunes 8 and JAWS 10? I have some
questions about how to do a few things.

I have been using the JAWS cursor to find the import button at the bottom of
the screen and then routing the PC cursor to it and clicking the left mouse
button. Is there another way to do this?

Again I am using the JAWS cursor to read the status of importing and syncing
found at the top of the screen. Is there another way to do this?

When I sync my iPod I want to only sync my play lists and not my entire
library. I have been told that there is a way to check and uncheck what you
want to sync. I can't find this, even when navigating around the screen with
the JAWS cursor. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

Hello jeffrey. Did you know that you don't have to upgrade to office 2007
if you don't want to. That's right there is a free downloadable patch to
run office 2007 doccuments in office 2003 without changing to the complete
office 2007. The patch is a free download and the great thing is you can
still use the commands to open office 2007 doccuments with office 2003
without changing anything. The office 2003 stays the same and when you
download the patch to open office 2007 doccuments nothing changes. Lot of
people don't know that but you can do it.

Hey Brian,
Please send me a copy to?
Patti

Microsoft created a worksheet consisting of 52 individual sheets that
show how commands were performed in Word 2003 and how to perform them
in Word 2007. Commands available in menus and all toolbars in Word
2003 are included. You might like to use it as a way to quickly find
how to do specific tasks in Word 2007. For example, if you open the
spreadsheet and use CTRL-Shift-S to list all the sheets, you can then
press the letter F four times until you find the sheet that lists all
the commands for the forms toolbar. Of course, pressing enter on the
choice opens the specific sheet. In that sheet, one column shows how
you picked a certain tool from the forms toolbar in Word 2003, and
another column shows how to do it in Word 2007.

If you are interested in this Excel file I can send it to you.

Take care.

I am mostly familiar with MS Word, and after about 9 months with it, I

There is a learning curve, but if you can take some time without having
to get a job done, you can pick it up.
I recommend that you make yourself a cheat sheet. That is, when you
figure out how to do something, make a note of it on the cheat sheet, so
you can find that information back quickly.
After awhile you will learn the common commands and will be breezing
along.
Note that some keyboard commands are the same as previous Office
versions.
Alt T plus S still gets you into the spell checker.
Alt O plus F gets you into the font menue
Alt O plus C gets you to the columns menu

You still have the menus across the top of the screen.
Alt P brings you to the Page menu. Then you will tab through all the
options there.
As you find the ones that you need, record them on your cheat sheet.
The Tabs menu is one that was a little difficult to find. Alt P, plus
PG, then Alt T

If you choose Alt P to get to the page menu, you can use your arrow keys
to move across the top of the screen to the other menus, then tab through
them to find the options you are looking for.
This way you will also learn the key combinations to get to those menus.

When you land on an option, listen carefully, and JAWS will tell you the
key combinations to get there.
Blessings,
Tom

Hi,

everything crawls to a halt.

To listen either click
http://acbradio.org:8000/mainstream-high.m3u
or
http://acbradio.org:8000/mainstream-low.m3u
or put the following into the location dialog of your player:

http://acbradio.org:8000/mainstream-high

or

I'm sorry this is the only way to listen but I have to keep the site
offline until everything settles down.

I believe you can add a voice profile with a different synth, but I don't
like it. I wish they would've kept those options... and no, sadly, you
 can't
change languages like you used to.
IMO JAWS is really going down the toilet, but again just IMO.

 Hi all,
I was just reading about what's new in jaws 10. I noticed it said on the
site the change synthesizer and othe language options hav been removed
 and
 replaced with change voice profiles.
I may have misunderstood, but do we still have the option to change the
 language?
I have the same question about the keystroke ctrl insert S. This
 keystroke
brings up a list of synthesizers we can switch too quickly. It said in
 the
whats new jaws 10 features this keystroke was assigned to something to
 do
 with voice profiles.
so what do we now do to change synthesizers quickly?
If I have misunderstood, please someone correct and explain.
 God bless,
 from Andrew

Agree with you there. Every computer here at home is running Avast! Home
Edition (the free one mentioned in the previous message.) Also used to use
AVG 7.5, tried 8.0, and it gave me errors. So I switched.

I would also recommend Avast. I switched to that a couple weeks ago
because AVG 7.5 is no longer being supported by the end of this month,
and 8.0 is a nightmare to use with Jaws (or so I've heard.) Avast has
found things that AVG did not, so that's a plus. Also, it's free, so
that's another plus. You'll have to get a registration key, which is
also free, and after that you can use it without any limitations.

Yes, the account configuration files exported from Outlook Express can be
used to set up the accounts in Windows Mail. In fact, the account dialogs
are the same as in Outlook Express.

So it looks like part of my weekend coming up will be wasted setting up a
Vista system for somebody else. Certainly one part of it will be changing
them over from Outlook Express to Windows Mail. The question is can I
simply export the IAF file from the old system and import it in to the new
one? My guess is yes, but since this will be the first time ever being in
the same room as a Vista system I'd like to know everything I can learn
before sitting down to a Saturday afternoon with Vista. So any and all
tips will be received and cataloged for future reference.

don't worry, your computer isn't doing something alien like! It's doing what

Hi all.

I have something odd happening, or maybe it's not quite so odd. Last week
when
I did my computer maintenance the disk cleanup and disk defragmenbtor stayed
in
the start menu. Is it ok to use it this way. Could I simply select it from
the
start menu when I want to run it again in a few weeks? I saw no mention of
this. Is it normal for a computer to do this without being instructed to do
so?
Thanks

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Skype Scripts For JAWS

Someone told me that you could find the Skype scripts on the JAWS-Users home
page. I have looked
and can't find them anywhere. Could someone please point me in the right
direction of these
scripts. If they are not at JAWS-Users home page, then where can I get
them. I am using JAWS 7.0.

Thanks,
Donnie
