preseason schedules screwed up. I thought the Eagles were

for

users?

Overall it seems more stable as far as being an initial beta

than other
upgrades. No real major issues to speak of so far. I am

however noticing

some things, such as:

1. For whatever reason, in Google Reader via IE8, Jaws does

feel a bit
sluggish and unresponsive at times. Silence, slow to respond to

commands,
randomly being placed on other parts of the page, having to tab

or shift

tab
to get focus back, etc. I don't find this to be the case when

in Firefox
though. It doesn't stop me from getting around Google Reader

all together,
but it is affecting my navigation. I don't' have this amount of

trouble

when
using JFW 11 and IE8.

2. Again, in Google Reader, but this time from within Firefox,

when
clickin on a particular subscription feed or by doing a simple

search from
within the overall page and navegating down the various entries

using the

h
key for headings, Jaws will read a bunch of garbled link text

instead of
that particular heading title. I've found that when going in

reverse,
(shift+h instead of just h) Jaws reads the entry titles

perfectly fine.

This
isn't an issue in IE8 at all. I had reported this glitch in

prior

releases,
but it's still present in version 12.

3. Jaws seems to have a lot of trouble with Firefox webpages

that have
a lot of links. When encountering a page with hundreds either

by visiting

a
blog posting with hundreds of responces or if I'm searching for

an item to
buy and want all results shown on one page or again, if I'm in

Google

Reader
and press the navigation button to have all my subscriptions

appear (I

have
over 240 rss feeds for example(, JFW will become quite

unresponsive and at
times crash on me. Many times I almost have to step away from

my machine
since Jaws wont' even speak if I do an alt+tab to go to another

app. This

is
especially an issue for me as I help my wife with her eBay store

and when
going into the seller's page, it takes forever for Jaws to talk.

That is

if
I'm in fact lucky and JFW doesn't crash all together. I don't

have this
problem in IE8. I really started noticing this issue with JFW

11 and still

with version 12.

4. I had reported a problem when upgrading from JFW 10 to 11

with all
the information in my e-mails through Outlook 2003 (from,

subject, date

etc)
being spoken twice when arrowing up and down the list view. I

was able to
reproduce this problem with the escalations department (Inquiry

Number:
197907), but never got a solution to it. The same problem is

present in

version 12.

I like the way how the configuration manager has been cleaned up

and

Firefox
feels generally crisper than in versions past. Google Voice

seems to be a
lot cleaner through Mozilla than with IE. Not too easy if at

all when

trying
to make calls through the gmail page itself

Jose, I do not know about this program but, I am assuming that

this is not a
program that Jaws has some scripts developed for. you can check

this by
using insert key plus letter Q to see if you hear jaws say

default, then
there are no jaws scripts. If jaws announces the name of the

program, then
that would mean jaws has some scripts it is using for the program

and so you
can check jaws help for the program and helpful hints or keyboard

shortcuts.
Usually if there is a tool bar, the jaws command insert key plus

F8 might
invoke a tool bar.But you may still be able to use the program

using the
jaws cursor to help you find out about the program and if there

might be

tool bars or a menue bar and short cut keys.
I would use the jaws cursor and look around the top of the page

to see if

you have some tool bar or menue bar at the top of the page.
You could try using the alt key to see if it brings up a menue

bar so you
can arrow around and see if there are some keyboard commands to

invoke

actions.
You might find the programs help file and read it using the jaws

cursor.

Hope these ideas might help you try and figure this all out.
good luck.

Hi all,
I'm glad you're enjoying the software. Yes, I should have told

High
Criteria that it's accessible because of the keyboard shortcuts

built

into the program.
Now, to each their own, but I think their editing capabilities,

despite
it being basic, is quite good. But I will still use GoldWave for

more

advanced editing, including adding effects.
So, for JAWS users, you should have at least GoldWave as one

audio

program at your disposal.
Hope this helps.

I've been playing with the trial ver this morning and delighted

1. totally accessible with Jaws with hot keys built into the

2. Lossless recording quality. So I am a huge obsessive audio
phile and any app that degrades sound quality even one bit form
the original is a deal breaker for me. I gotta say with the
'software' mode, and recording output set to 192kBPS stereo Mp3 I
couldn't find any diff between the original and the recording. I
tried this with some mp3 songs already on my PC to really be able
to tell any diff and found no difff in the recording. Also
distortion at high pitch/volume parts of this grunge song had
zero distortion.

3.

Part of my recent research to record streaming content also was
to use my GW Micro's BookSense's line-in to record on the BS off
my PC. I gotta say that too dipped the recording quality
noticeably and tended to add distortion especially at the high
pitch/volume portions of the original. Besides that way is so
much more cumbersome as u gotta have your PC, the BS and the
3.5mm-3.5mm cord.
I am buying the Std Edition and recommend it to anyone remotely

normal and is reminding you what you will experience in the

unregistered
version. After all they don't want you to get away with using it

for
free without the noise, but at the same time they like to warn

you in
case you or anyone else hears a very loud random sound when

playing back
the recording. So what they do is remind you each time you start

the
program. Now, once you have registered this message will not pop

up
again because, well, there will be no random sounds in any of

your

recordings.
Hope this helps.

Hi all,
I'm glad you're enjoying the software. Yes, I should have told

High

Criteria that it's accessible because of the keyboard shortcuts

built

into the program.
Now, to each their own, but I think their editing capabilities,

despite
it being basic, is quite good. But I will still use GoldWave

for

more

advanced editing, including adding effects.
So, for JAWS users, you should have at least GoldWave as one

audio

program at your disposal.
Hope this helps.

1. totally accessible with Jaws with hot keys built into the

2. Lossless recording quality. So I am a huge obsessive audio

the

any diff

this

3.

Part of my recent research to record streaming content also was
to use my GW Micro's BookSense's line-in to record on the BS off

my PC.
I gotta say that too dipped the recording quality noticeably and

tended
to add distortion especially at the high pitch/volume portions

of the
original. Besides that way is so much more cumbersome as u

gotta have

your PC, the BS and the 3.5mm-3.5mm cord.

I am buying the Std Edition and recommend it to anyone remotely

interested in recording off other devices or the internet.

Hello Chris,

I sent some information about using Hotmail to the Email address

shown in
your message. I put together a document on using JAWS with

Hotmail, and
also created a file that can be used in Daisy readers such as FS

Reader,
Victor Stream, etc. The content of the message I sent is shown

below, and
links to the Word 2007 document and the Daisy formatted file are

also below
in the message. The Daisy file is in a zip file but will be

recognized by

Humanware Companion and by FS Reader.

I certainly didn't cover all features and functions of Hotmail,

but I tried

to cover most of the main topics.

Here are the message and links:

I noticed your message posted by Chris Hallsworth to the JAWS

users group a
couple of days ago about using Hotmail with JAWS. I thought you

might be
interested in checking out a document I put together in the last

few days
about using Hotmail. It is available as a Word 2007 document and

as a Daisy
file that can be played on a Victor Stream, FS Reader or other

Daisy
readers. I can also save it and send it to you in a format that

will open
in earlier versions of Word if you want it in a .doc format.

Links for the
Word 2007 document and for the zip file that will work in a Daisy

reader are
shown below. You can browse the document by using links,

bookmarks,
headings, etc. The zip file contains the format of the document

that will
work with a Daisy reader. You can go to specific page numbers,

browse by
levels including by headings, page numbers or phrases, and you

can read the
text as a document with FS Reader or other Daisy readers that let

you use
that feature. The first link is to the Word 2007 document and

the second

link is to the file that can be used in Daisy readers.

Hello: During this past week, my Hotmail account was changed to

As the subject line states,
can system restore put back an uninstalled program? I
uninstalled an earlier version of Silverlight because according
to instructions all previous versions must be uninstalled first
before the program can be updated. Now, the latest version won't
install. So, if I roll back the computer to an earlier date
prior to uninstalling silverlight will system restore put it
back? BTW, I think silverlight is required to be able to listen
to audio content for NBA basketball games. This is just a theory
but I think the reason it wasn't working before is you have to
turn flash movies on in jaws.

Hi Albert,
There is no version of Outlook Express higher than 6.
Microsoft replaced Outlook Express with Windows Mail, in Vista,

and to the

best of my knowledge,
the only mail client that ships with Office is Microsoft Outlook.
What problems are you experiencing with Outlook Express?

Good morning everyone.

I have office 2003 installed on my desktop computer, as well as

is , if I were to uninstall office 2003 and replace it with

and replace my current version of outlook express 6 with the

newer version
of outlook express that comes with office 2007, would I then have

asking this, because my current version of outlook express 6,

has, and is
giving me real problems here that I can't seem too resolve nor

do I have
an opportunity too have a technician that I can call on to help

me fix these
problems that I am having with my current version of outlook

express 6.

[JAWS-Users] Ring Tone maker and other programs!

2009-09-20 Thread Jose Lomeli
Dear All, In this list. I have a recommendation about these so
called programs! I was the same as some people, downloading
programs that were for music or other things. This is not a good
thing to do! Don't just download everything that is free or may
sound cool to you! I should say that is free/cool! I use to do
this until I've ran in to a virus that really did some damage to
my computer! I had to reinstall my computer! At that time I
didn't know anything about Anti Viruses or Anti Spy-ware
programs! That is why I don't download anything for free or that
I don't trust! What I do is look on the internet and if its free

Hi Jose,
That is really too much of a blanket statement.
While I can not speak to every website,
programs found at:
www.blind-computing.com
and
www.jaws-users.com
have been tested not only for compatibility with Jaws, but also

scanned for

viruses etc.
Keep in mind, that security software will sometimes render false

positives,
that is why it is recommended to never run a program from it's

destination,

but, instead, download and scan the file first.
You can use some reputable on-line scanners to double-check a

file for

viruses.
At any time if you are not comfortable with a particular site, or

download,

then cancel the download , and leave the site.

Did you finish the installation of ringtone maker? If not, then

you

probably aren't infected.
If you did finish the installation I would suggest running,

malwarebytes.

You can download it here: www.malwarebytes.com
It's a free program but there is a paid version available.
If you need more help, I would recommend taking this discussion

Access to Go is similar, however it's free to use and runs

Yes, in short, System Access (and System Access to Go) is the

only
thing that works with iTunes right now. I don't know what the

SA
mouse over command is, but still...it works. The format kind

of

reminds me of AmazonMP3, which is fine.
Also, I don't know why the library won't read if it has been

upgraded

previously--perhaps because the file contains upgraded data?

Hi,
Yes, I have tried that. Am using a laptop though. I think the

8.2 is very easy. And, if you hit enter on a song it will play

the
preview unlike version 9. 8.2 I had no probs with using jaws

10.

hard
to get it to do what I want to do at this point. I noticed that

you

mention that you should be able to get a preview in the store by
performing a mouseover. When JAWS is focused on a song in the

store,

have you attempted

the activate mouseover keystroke? On a desktop keyboard, that
would be the Control + Insert + NumPad Enter. I am not sure how

this
differs from hovering the mouse over an object by routing the

JAWS
cursor to the PC cursor with the Insert + NumPad Minus. I would

try

both.

You can try going to add/remove if you are using XP and

highlighting avast.
Then tab to change remove. You will be asked to make a selection

i.e. update
program, remove, and repare. You want to arrow down and

highlight repare and
tab to next and hit enter. Avast will let you know when it has

finished
reparing avast. You should reboot your computer to let the

changes take

effect. Good luck.

can not

get
to it at all and as far as I can see the free one will fix most

things

just
need to get the pro one working and then I could say if it will

fix more

or
not maybe it will find more as well

Elaine,

Are you saying that the free version of Advanced SystemCare is

worthless?

I
understand it when you say that you need sighted assistance to

register

the
pro version.

My question is this. I have the free version on my PC and when

I do a

scan,
it gives me a list of items to be repaired. However, it seems

that we

cannot
do a repair unless we purchase the pro version. Is this

correct? Am I

missing something?

Thanks for any advice.

ah well done it now lets see how the program works.

actually looking at it now, I'm non the wiser how it works.

I see the buttons, stop, scan, repair etc but jaws doesn't read

I have clicked the scan button but the pc doesn't appear to do

anyone got a clue as to why this program is so unfriendly?

Good afternoon everyone,

I am considering switching from Verizon's Dsl service, too

road
runner from time Warner cable. If I do this, is there any

service or
program that anyone knows of that will automatically switch your

email
address from one provider too another? I've heard of something

called
switch that might be able too acomplish this, but I don't know

how good or
reliable it is, and I don't really want to go through the

process of un
subscribing, and resubscribing, too the three lists that I'm

already
subscribed too. I'd rather have all of my services like

internet,
telephone, and television all on one bill, instead of receiving

two bills

fore each of these services.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] message compact

Hi List,
Recently, when I exit from windows mail, I am getting the message; message
compact store it will take for few minutes.
I have no idea what this all about, so I just Tab to cancel, but then JAWS
says press enter to start.
I don't want to press enter cause I don't know what will start there, so I
just press win key and M to go back to desktop.
This is very annoying to do this all the time, so hope somebody out there
could please provide me right direction to get rid of this.
Your help is very much appreciated, thank you.
