Hi Rangs,
The non-permanent way is to press Jawskey Plus Numrow2 until you hear none
among the choices for Key Echo.

You can also make the same changes permanent by:
1. Opening configuration Manager with JawsKey plus Numrow 6 or choosing it
from the JawsKey Plus F2 Managers list.
2. Press Control plus shift plus d to open the default configuration file as
you want this setting in all situations.
3. Press Alt Plus S and then enter for User Options.
4. Press Tab until you hear Typing Echo.
5. Select the radio button for none and press enter.
6.Save your changes with Control Plus S and Exit with Alt Plus f4.

Hi all:
I downloaded and installed Avast (free edition) on the 4th or 5th of Feb, was informed during the
installation process that i must register. I clicked on the registration icon, filled in the
information and was told I would receive an email with needed information for completing the
process. I later saw on this list or another if you emailed supp...@support.avast.com you could
receive assistance as a blind user with the registration process, I sent a emailed them saying I
was blind. On the 6th of Feb I received an email from Michal Zrubecky at Avast support saying he
could help me if I answered a few questions then he would register me and email me the product
code, I immediately replyed with the information, well by the 12th I had not received a reply, so
I sent the information again, thinking my email of the 6th could have been miss layed. It is now
the 17th and no reply. Have any of you had any experience with Avast support in registering you
and is the delay comman?

OK I'm confused. Why would you want to do that? Every time I make a new
folder, I'm always in the Inbox. I don't want folders off of folders. It
gets too confusing remembering where everything is.
If you create all new folders while in the Inbox, then they are in a
treeview.

I'm fairly certain you would.

However, one way to avoid this would be to reorganize your folders so that
they're under the drafts folder in the tree view. If you create a new
folder while the In box is highlighted, the folder is placed under the in
box, so OE treats it like a sub folder or sub menu whenever you create a new
folder or move messages to it.

When you create a new folder, be sure the drafts folder is opened before you
press Okay to confirm the folder name. Now you'll have a subfolder under
the drafts folder and your list of folders.

Are you talking about the In box being closed in the list of folders you
get
after you use the control+E command to create a folder or the Control+V
command to move messages?

If so, press right arrow. This opens the list of folders under the In
Box.
This also happens if you have a group of subfolders after your drafts
folder.

The same thing applies if you're getting the message when you're in the
main
OE window.

I'm
finding it hard to move my folders within outlook express, because for

 Hello Friends,
You can always paste a messy message you might have received into a Word
.doc file, then just hit Control H, which is Find and Replace use the
greater sign to find, and leave the Replace blank.

It will leave the message clean of those messy greater signs, and your
 recipients will appreciate it!
I do it with about half the forwarded messages I in turn wish to forward.

It only takes a couple of seconds!

Not in outlook Express per se. Rather, it is a result of the copy full
screen content in internet Explorer and other html formatted documents.
  If
you use SayAll instead, you will not see the cell problem much.

I find it annoying in some emails jaws reads cell in the beginning of each
line. Today there was an email that I wanted to send to someone that had a
lot of greater signs also at the beginning of each line. Trying to use
e-cleaner to remove the greater signs it did not work since when I copied
  it
  put everything into one cell.
I would guess that this is something in outlook express but haven't found
  it.Any ideas?

Hi,

You can stop Jaws from announcing punctuation by changing customized punctuation in configuration
manager. Change the punctuation that you don't want to hear from none to all.

The punctuation would be heard if you move through each character or if you select text, Jaws will
say the punctuation.

I hope that this make sense.

Hi, try this instruction, you don't need to go to control panel.
This is what I do when I want to increase or decrease my JAWS volume.
While on desktop, shift tab ones,
left arrow to volume, enter.
Tab ones, down or up arrow to desired volume percent enter.
Then just press Tab till JAWS says desktop, or press alt f4 to go back to
desktop.

Hello Kimber;

did you wait until the memory test was complete? and then close the web-page?

now, you should be able to use the applications key, and arrow to settings and
press enter.

Tab until you hear, enable skins for simple user interface check box checked. Press spacebar
to uncheck it.

now tab ok, press enter.

now, close avast, and re-start the program.

Good morning Kimber!

I'm not using Avast, however, I believe the default is, to have Avast update
automatically.

you could also update manually, if you wanted.
also, I'm not sure if your aware, there is some helpful tips on the jaws-users program page, to
make avast a little more jaws friendly.

hi kimber
since the avast version you downloaded my be the current version all available updates may
have already come with it. so it may be a while for the next update (it usually updatesdaily)
before the next one takes place. or you may have just missed the announcement, while you
stepped away from the pc or something. so no worry updates will come :9

hi kimber,
avast always announces an update with speech. It will say 'your virus database has been updated'
or something along that line.
that is one of the things I like about avast, that it has that feature so you can actually hear
when an update takes place.

Hi Kimber,
I have been noticing your progress with using the Avast program, and glad you are doing so well
with this new challenge. You can make changes to Avast from the System Tray. Enter

insert+F11 and arrow to a line reading Avast on access scanner --- and hit
the Enter Key. You can arrow up or down to make your choice. If you select
program settings it will give you a tree-view of the Avast world. Once you
arrow to a function, then use the Tab Key to read the choices. The updating
submenu will allow you to both check the virus database and the program
updates. To activate either one just hit enter and the updating will
proceed. In the tree-view arrow to the line reading update (basic) and reference this choice
using the Tab Key. You will find check boxes for making updates automatic or prompted , or
manual. The default is already set to automatic for the virus database, but you can also make the
program updates automatic. As far as doing system virus scans, I think many people virus scan
their system to death. Remember that Avast moniters all incoming and outgoing messages and new
files for viruses. System scans are very resource intensive. Avast does not care what version of
Jaws you are using. I am running both the free and pro version of Avast on two different XP
machines. Automatic scheduling of scans can only be done with the pro version of the program. I
hope I have helped you some, but please continue to ask for further information. I too am still
learning about the Avast system, and your questions also help in my gaining new knowledge about
the program.

Go to the configuration manager, press ctrl+shift+d if you want this change to be global,
otherwise first go to an windows explorer window - in my computer or my documents for example, and
start the manager from there. When you do, alt+s for set options menu, v for verbosity options,
than go to the button of the verbosity level you are use the most and space on it. Go to the end
of list of options and check the tool option. Ok twice and ctrl+s to save the changes. If you
don't want to hear always this information, just don't make this changes to the verbosity level
you use. Make them for another level and use it only when you need it.

Um, no, it kind of goes like this.
Whatever I put the cursor on, whether it was a folder, a track, even a program, I would
automatically be given all the info about it. Whether I wanted it or not. So if I went to my
desktop and put the cursor on JAWS, I would be then told,

See program files or, freedom scientific.
In many cases I found this info to be extremely helpful. Otherwise I would just stop it with the
control key. I had a feeling I checked or unchecked, something in the jaws, configuration
manager. Um, I could be wrong.

Thanks for your help.

To get this information, you first need to enable the status bar.

To do this, in any folder view, go to the view menu with alt+V, then arrow down to status bar
and hit enter.

If you see a check mark there already, then that means you've already got it activated, but
either way, once you have it activated, press insert+page down to here the status bar contents.

Hope this helps.

Hey there.
How can I set jaws up so that, when I highlight a file, folder or, a track I
can get more info on it? E.G., the length bit rate of a track. a folder and
what's partially contained there, within. I did have it set that way once, but
have now lost the instructions on how to set it up again.
I'm using jaws 9.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Email Stripper question

 Hello Fellow Listers,

I have saved the Email stripper program from the website and ran it, put a
shortcut on the desktop, and created a shortcut key. Now, when I open Email
stripper with the shortcut key I get this message.
 Open File - Security Warning

 run this software?
 Name: emailstripper.exe

This file does not have a valid digital signature that verifies its
publisher. You should only run software from publishers you trust.

I have installed uninstalled the program 4 time trying both running
saving it from the website I am having the same results. Can someone tell
me if I am doing something wrong, if so what it is that I'm doing wrong.
All advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much.

Windows (key), run dialogue (r), narrator

Where did you go to check the checkbox? (I've forgotten for now.) It is
checked for me, and starts up when I press Windows+u together, as in one
 keystroke.

 Hi All,

When I press windows key plus u, my Windows narrator is not starting. I
have the box checked so it should start when the utility manager opens and
does not. Could someone tell me how to fix this, please? Thank you all

No I sent the email, but I kept getting this error message every time, but
when I sent a single track as an attachment, it went ok. Now I don't get
error messages when I'm sending ordinary emails, but as I said before, the
attachments are giving me problems. I'm waiting to hear if Rangs got my
attachments yesterday. I got into my sent folder and found that I sent six
attachments, but when I looked into my outbox, they were still there. This
 sounds rather confusing doesn't it?

You'll have to provide more information before we can help you.

Ever since say a couple of days ago, it's been giving me problems. Mind
 you,
I did have one of my tutors come and fix one problem, only to get another
one. What was happening, was, that I would get an error message everytime
 I
sent an email, but no trouble sending attachments. Now it's the other way
 round.kk.

Does it happen with all files or just this one?
What type of file is it? MP3? EXE? DOC?

And does this happen on all attachments or just large ones? EG if
you send a small word document does it send ok?

Hi everyone. I'm trying to send attachments, but just as it's
nearing the completion of sending it, it keeps on giving me this
error message, I've had my IP helping me trying to get the settings
right, which seems to be in order, but still I get this error
message, so you guys are my last resort.
 Thanks heaps. kk.

I too get this message after doing a restart. And when I try to open the AVG

choices of send, or, don't send, error report. I've tried re installing, but

I have a question and I'm not sure if anyone would have any ideas as to how
I can resolve an issue I'm having.

At work, we use Lotus notes to send/receive emails. There is a webmail
version, which seems to also use lotus notes as well, by accessing the
mail servers, and the way you send mail is there's a toolbar at the top of
the page, that you have to use the Jaws cursor to find, and there you have
the reply, forward, New Memo etc., buttons.

The thing is, I can see the toolbar on my desktop computer at work, but I
can't see it on my laptop at home. Supposedly, the toolbar is there,
according to the IT guy who looked at my laptop.

Could someone tell me why it would display on my work computer and not the
one given to me to telecommute?

I'm using IE 6.0 on both machines, we are running the latest version of
jaws, so I'm not sure what's the issue.

 Does anyone have any ideas?

 Ginny

 Hi,

Press jaws key f11. Now go to AVG and hit enter, then down arrow once. You
should be on update now press enter on that. If you aren't on that, find
it in the menu and open it. You Will now be in a list of updates if there
are any. Select the ones you want and press install updates.

 HTH!
