It is a music search engine that lets you search for songs by artist or title. You can listen to, or download the ones you like in MP3 format. I have created a number of folders containing dozens of songs that I have downloaded from this site which I subsequently burned to CD. And it is very JAWS accessible. If a person is learning something like this and your at least willing to give the warning that it may cause certain problems, then it's really up to them to proceed or not proceed with the information. If they make the file unusable, could they not repair jaws and go from there? I mean, at least to me, this seems to be a listserve where people can ask questions and learn from one another. It seems sort of odd to say yes you can do procedure X and then saying up front, I ain't tellin you how. That kind of responce sounds elitist at best and snobbish at worst. If your really worried about someone being angry at you if they don't do the procedure correctly, then just don't bring it up in the first place. It just doesn't seem right for someone to decide what information another person can or can't comprehend and use effectively. We all get responces like this day in and day out from sighted people who second guess our abilities. Doesn't make sense to do the same sort of thing to each other here, too. We should all be adult enough to know our own level of comfort with our computer tinkering skills. And we should all be adult enough to know how to handle the consequences of anything we do decide to try. This is only my opinion on the matter. I know others might disagree and that's fine. I just wanted to put in my own two cents. I would like to have a handy copy of my favorites always available on my computer. Don Marang - Original Message - From: Brian Lee brianl...@charter.net To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Friday, December 12, 2008 11:57 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] DVD converts Hello Stewart, DVD Flick is a DVD authoring tool and not DVD copying software. However, there is a good DVD copying program that is free called DVDFab HD Decrypter. You can choose to copy the entire DVD or just the main movie. You can also use it to copy disks from XBox 360, Play Station 3 and cell phones, although I have never done so. All you need to do to copy a full DVD is insert the DVD, in DVDFab HD Decrypter click on the full disk and activate the start button in the program. You will need to use the JAWS cursor to find the full disk choice and use the keyboard to simulate a left mouse button click on the choice. You can use the tab key to find (and change if desired) the destination folder and the start button. The entire DVD will be ripped into a folder on the hard drive. The folder will contain an audio_TS and a Video_TS folder. You can then use a program like Image Burn to burn the DVD folder to a new DVD disk. In Image Burn you need to choose the build choice from the mode menu. When you do so, the output menu will show on the menu bar. The choice that should be checked in the output menu is device. With mode set to build and output to device you can use the browse for a folder choice under the file menu. You should browse to the folder that contains the audio_TS and video_ts folders and open it. With a blank DVD in the drive you can then choose write from the file menu and follow the prompts. Here are links on Sendspace for the two programs if you are interested. http://www.sendspace.com/file/6u6cnq http://www.sendspace.com/file/d87irw Write me off list if you would like to discuss the programs further. You can use the tab key to move between controls like add file, change destination, etc. However, when using it a person needs to use the JAWS refresh command to make the toolbar visible and then use the JAWS cursor and simulate mouse clicks to activate the various buttons like project settings and convert to DVD. The JAWS cursor has to also be used in the settings dialog where the tabs are shown vertically and with lines of other information between them. So, it does take a while to learn how to use the program. Although it is a DVD authoring program, if a person goes into the project settings and picks the burning tab, there is a checkbox that can be checked to tell the program to burn the project after encoding. A person can use the program with JAWS, but it might take a while to figure out. Below are a couple messages I sent to another member of the list a while ago about DVD authoring and burning programs. If you are using Vista Home Premium or Ultimate then your computer has Windows DVD Maker. I have found that it uses pretty standard types of controls and is quite accessible. It handles quite a few of the video file formats such as .AVI, .MPG, .WMV and others. You can find it under the all programs menu. If you don't have Vista Home Premium or Ultimate you can download and install a couple free programs. DVD Flick is a program that will convert many of the common video formats and will create a DVD folder that can be burned to a DVD. The folder it creates will contain subfolders, (an audio_TS and a video_TS), which are the folders that need to be in a folder when burning to a DVD. The video_TS contains the .BUP, .IFO and .VOB files. The audio_TS will be empty but is required by the

the actual harddrive didn't work on other computers my friend told me that i hve to manually start it up and reformat the disk and install the drivers for it so that's where i'm at right now - Original Message - From: Victor Gouveia [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Monday, September 01, 2008 12:37 AM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] external harddrive question Is it being picked up in the device manager? You may want to go into the device manager and check under the USB controllers if there's a mass storage device being picked up. If that's the case, then you will want to uninstall all of the USB devices listed there, restart your computer, and let Windows recreate the USB devices plugged into the computer. You haven't said whether you've tried plugging in the drive on another port, so my fix above is in case you have tried plugging it into another port, and you had the same results. Like I said, this is the fix for a problem such as yours. Also, you never mentioned whether you've managed to connect this device to your computer in the past and whether it's been working fine at that point. Let us know some more information and we'll try to help if possible. Knowing 98 the way I do, you'll no doubt have to restart your computer for the changes to take effect. If you're running XP, then, more than likely, the CD won't help you, but you never know. Most drives only come with driver CD's for Windows 98 computers, as those are the only ones that will not recognize the drive. Another thing I just thought about is if you're running 98, and the drive is formatted as NTFS, then you won't get it to recognize the drive, no matter what you do. You may want to take the drive to someone else's computer to see if it gets recognized there on the other computer, at least to rule out that the drive is bad. You might want to Google your problem, detailing the model and serial number of your drive, if you have it, and the problem you're having, and see if you can turn up anything that way. If you'd like, let me know the model of your drive, and the size, as well as what operating system you're using, and I'll run a cursory Google search for the problem for you, and post my results. In case anybody is interested it's number 49 as a matter of fact. We all owe the creation of this list ETC to my wife for first introducing me to JAWS back in 1996. She didn't want me to be left behind in the world of technology and that's when she made the discovery of the 30 day trial program that the then Henter Joyce company offered for $39.95. Before meeting her I bought a screen reader for $995 that was absolutely worthless and it made me very discouraged regarding Windows and computers in general. There was no way in the world I was going to pay for another such program without at least first trying it out to see if it worked or not. The rest as they say is history, between self teaching and learning from others who are much smarter than I am I've learned what I know today. Also I must credit this list for forcing me to learn a lot of new things like writing my own HTML code ETC. So to celebrate I'm taking the day off, it's out to lunch and then just goofing off this afternoon. Have a great day to all and thank you again.
