[JAWS-Users] how to click on link that isn't recognised as link
I am having a problem on some web pages where jaws isn’t recognising that something can be clicked on and therefore won’t activate by entering on it. The tab key completely skips past them too. Is there an alternative command to allow me to click on items like these? I am using the most current versions of both jaws and windows. Can anybody who may be able to help message me directly please so that I don’t have to traul through the lengthy digest to search for an answer? [JAWS-Users] help needed with sound taxi
Hi can anybody help me out with using sound taxi please? I am trying to convert some audio files, I’m using win 8 and jaws 14 and have installed sound taxi pro along with the jaws script for it. I am managing to select the files that I wish to convert, then it asks for my audible info which I enter but Jaws won’t read anything out to me after that. I have tried looking for an online tutorial for jaws users but there doesn’t seem to be any. I can’t even seem to access any settings or menus. Can anybody explain to me how to set it up so that any file placed into the chosen folder wil automatically be converted into a format of my choosing? And also, where will the converted files appear? However, conversion of Audible formats, except as provided for on the Audible web site, violates the license underwhich you obtained the book. Absolutely brilliant, thank you very much, all fixed now :) :) -Original Message- From: East, Robin Sent: Wednesday, April 10, 2013 2:46 PM To: 'jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com' Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] reading protected view document Found this... Are you working in Microsoft Word 2010? If so, how many times have you tried to jump into a document and start making some changes and nothing happens? Oh, that's right. You forgot to click on that annoying, little, yellow button on the top of the document. You idiot! As annoying as it may be, there are valid reasons for this new security feature in Office 2010, which is an improvement over security features in previous versions of Office. As explained by the Microsoft Office 2010 Engineering Team... With any piece of complex software, over time new file parsing exploits against it may be found. The older Office binary file formats had been susceptible to these types of attacks. Over the past years hackers have discovered ways to manipulate Office binary files so that when they are opened and parsed, they cause their own code embedded within the file to run. To address these binary file parsing attacks in Office 2007, several new XML based file formats were introduced. If you are generally savvy enough to not open documents from suspicious sources and enjoy an occasional walk on the wild side, well then here is a quick how-to on just turning the darn thing off permanently: 1.Open any Office 2010 application (Ex: Word or Excel). 2.Click on Office or File button, and select Options. 3.Under Options select Trust Center in the left pane. 4.Click on Trust Center Settings in the right pane. 5.Click on the Protected View in the left pane of Trust Center window. 6.Check/Uncheck Protected Mode Options below to fit your needs If you want to take advantage of this security feature in a customized way, you can actually go back to step 6 and set specific Trusted Publishers, Locations and Documents right from this Window. Unfortunately, you need to apply these setting to each Microsoft Office application individually. Hope this tip is helpful and saves you some time! http://thrivenetworks.com/blog/2011/05/25/turn-off-enable-editing-in-microsoft-office-2010/ Dorina Teletin -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Suey Sent: April 10, 2013 06:47 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] reading protected view document Hi, how do I read a word doc that has been downloaded from the internet? [JAWS-Users] Jumbled forms
I am trying to fill in a payment form on a website and jaws is getting all jumbled up. This happened with jaws 12 but I assumed that 14 would be better. As I tab from one edit box to another either using E, F, or just tabbing, the labels are getting all mixed up and it is taking me round in circles rather than down the form one by one. It is also repeating boxes that I have already filled in rather than telling me which box exactly I am in. Does anybody else have this problem? Would using a different browser help? I am using the latest version of internet explorer. Any help appreciated! For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
