Re: [JAWS-Users] question about what version of windows works withwhatversion of Jaws

2016-03-02 Thread Troy Burnham
So if the computer is running windows xp like I think it is and they've
installed Jaws 16 on it what problems might there be? I remember when I
went from windows xp to windows 7 I had to update my jaws by about 3
versions because I hadn't been keeping my SMA's up not knowing that I'd
eventually want to go to windows 7, and I remember having some problems
using I think it was jaws 11 in windows 7 but I don't remember what those
problems were now. I'm just wondering that since this is a fifth grade
student who is just learning how to use jaws if jaws 16 might work for her
even if her computer is running xp since all she'll likely be doing is
simple reading.

Hi All,

I will be going either tomorrow or next week to get Jaws set up and
working

on a computer for a student that I think is in the fifth grade. I'm doing
this to help out the student's teacher that teaches her braille etc, but
this teacher knows absolutely nothing about Jaws so she's depending on my
expertise, what little there is.

I think the computer that they've installed Jaws on is running windows xp,
but I won't know for sure until I get there and I know that there are only
certain versions of Jaws that works with each version of windows. Does
anybody know what versions of Jaws worked with windows xp, and am I right
in

assuming that if it's Jaws 16 or 17 that they've installed that it either
won't work at all or won't work well if the computer is running windows
xp?

I basically only know how to do what I do with jaws, and sometimes it's
even

trial and error for me on certain sites or if I install an unfamiliar
program, so I don't really feel that I'm the best person to do what I've
been asked to do especially with an extreme beginner like I believe this
student is, but I at least want to be as prepared as possible for whatever
may happen. In other words, if I get there and the computer is indeed
running windows xp and it's Jaws 16 or 17 that they've installed, if xp
won't work with those versions of Jaws I at least want to know that before
I

start.

Hi Troy,

With Vipre you need to have the, I use another email program (Thunderbird,
etc.), checkbox checked in settings / Email Tab. This is the way it's
worded in Vipre 2014 so, I don't know how it will be worded in a newer
version. Do not check the, I use Microsoft Outlook Express or Windows
Mail,
checkbox! Vipre uses the Thunderbird port for Outlook Express. It took
me
a couple of months to get this figured out but, I finally did & this is
how
I got OE to work with Vipre. HTH

Hello group,

For anyone interested, the most JAWS friendly Internet Security software,
Vipre Internet Security, is going to be on sale Thanksgiving day for 24
hours, from 12:01 AM Thursday Morning, until 11:59 PM Thursday night. The
price will be $49.99. This license is for 2 PC’s for the life time of the
computers. This is a $150 savings. So, if anyone has been wanting to make
the switch, Thursday will be the day to do so. I personally have used this
product for years with JAWS, and have never been disappointed. I just
recently upgraded to the new 2016 version, and received an email notifying
me of the upgrade.

[JAWS-Users] Jaws and Vipre

2015-11-23 Thread Troy Burnham
Hi All,

Are all Vipre products accessible with Jaws? The reason I'm asking is that I
received an e-mail from Vipre today with the same $49 offer for the Internet
security that was mentioned on the list over the weekend, but the regular Vipre
antivirus will also be on sale at some point this weekend and I thought I might
go with that if all of Vipre's products are equally Jaws-compatible.

Yes, it works better than it used to. I just opened the Classic Vinyl
channel from the search box.

I then was a heading that had some on-demand shows from the 60s channel,
including the special they did with The Wrecking Crew last July. Although
Jaws didn't show it as a link, when I hit enter on it, it opened up.

Remember, you have to pay for on-line access, I don't think that is free
with the free trials.

Yes, I use Sirius XM on my windows 10 computer with no issues.
After logging in.
Down arrow to, search, press the spacebar to open the edit field.
Type, a channel number or NFL, or ESPN, or Blues, or rock, or whatever you
are looking for, Press enter.

Arrow down to the results, for example.
You will hear, graphic channel logo.
Arrow down one time below logo, press enter to play that station.
Press the letter, G for graphic, to jump to the next channel logo, down
arrow one time, press enter to play.

Keep pressing the letter g, you will come to:
Tune to next channel, just press enter to go to the next channel.
Tune to previous channel, go back a channel.
There are no links on this page.
You just press enter on certain things.
I hope this helps.
Your w-7 computer, should work the same way...

the case.

Hi Troy,

Below is a Dropbox download link for the prior build, 16.0.2342.

Please let me know after you've got it downloaded so I can remove it from
my

DB account.
Take care.

Hi Troy,

Are you running 32 or 64 bit? I need to know so I know which file to
upload
 send you.
Take care.

Hi All,

Does anybody have a Jaws installation file that doesn't include the
latest
upgrade? I installed the latest upgrade last night but I'm having
trouble

now reading e-mail in outlook express, and I just called Freedom
Scientific
and found out that the only way to roll back to a previous version is to
have that installation file but unfortunately I don't have that. I'm
up-to-date on my SMA's and I'm running Jaws 16, but I didn't receive a cd
with Jaws 16 on it for some reason.

Troy
