the problem is the installation setup has its own speech.
so you have to turn off the version that is running when it gets to the
screen 
to click on install.
then it will use the self voiceing installation to complete the setup.

Open your browser & press, Insert / Jaws key + V, to open quick settings. 
Type Block into the search field & wait for the following to appear, or 
arrow down to,
Block Quotes Identify Start And End
And make sure it is not checked.  If it's checked, press the spacebar to 
uncheck it, then tab to, Okay, and press enter to save and close quick 
settings.

To listen to all baseball games.
You just enter on the team, then a list of radio stations come up for that 
team. Try every station by entering on it until you find one that plays the 
game.
You can look up the other team in the game, and find the game on a radio 
station for the other team.
It is the same with football:
www.freefootballradio.com
Basketball:
www.freebasketballradio.com
and so on.
I always find a radio station on these web sites to listen to a game on. 
Sometimes, you might have to try entering on five or more stations before you 
find one that plays the game, but I have never missed a game. If it is on the 
radio, you will find a station playing the game on these web sites.

Hi all, I am thinking of installing OE classic on my windows ten computer.
And I have questions.

Is it easy to install? Are there scripts for it, and where do I get them?
And is there any special things to watch for while installing the program? I
googled it and found OE classic 2.7 and saved the download for it. Will this
version work with jaws 18? If not, what version does work with jaws 18?

Hi.  I recently acquired a used Toshiba laptop pc and upgraded it to Windows
10 home edition.  I have Winamp installed on the pc, but every time I try to
play a file in Winamp, Groove Music wants to open the file.  I have tried to

with ctrl-p after launching Winamp, but for the life of me, I can't remember
how to make Winamp the default player despite the fact that I hear file

Hi Jim,
I personally like the Outlook mail clients. I believe they are the easiest
to use and move around with shortcut keys. The Mail app in my opinion you
have to do a lot of tabbing to get around the app. Also in Outlook it is
easy to configure folders to have group emails go into their own folder.
That is my personal opinion.

For some reason outlook  2010 isn't letting me  reply to messages, so I am
writing a new message to the two of you, about CDEX. It is not retrieving

, I have CDEX now, and I  can't find the songs, once they are ripped from the 
CD. Another thing, I used CDEEX before, and it would find the artist etc. and 
just rip the songs from the CD. Now, when I tell lit to rip the whole cD, it  
wants me to put the name of the Album, the artist, the  year etc. it used to do 
all that before. I loved the program when I had it before on my W7 computer. 
how can I get it work correctly?

Hi Jim,
If you have the Nero Package, no mater how old your version is, the ripping 
function in Nero Burning ROM is very accessible.
If you're looking something open source, there's no better in terms of 
advanceness and accessibility than CDex.
Windows Media Player is accessible for doing this, but I don't find it 
convenient nor very customizable.

Hi all,,

I am trying to set up a big band jazz show on a site called the global
voice. I just tonight purchased a USB computer microphone. It is just a
microphone. I will use the head phones I have. 

So when I plug in the USB cable from the microphone to the computer, jaws
disappears. It comes back when I disconnect the USB cable. How can I both
use this microphone and jaws too? It acts like I am plugging another sound
card. Jim

I did an Updated text tutorial on using the Google Chrome browser. It is
pasted right here in this email, so you can read it, and give me feedback.
On each line, I tell you what my computer says as I take you through the
Google Chrome menu, and I take you carefully through the settings web page.
This is a lot like the Options page in Firefox, but it is easier to
navigate.
I hope this really helps you get started with Chrome, because it works so
well for me.
Here is the tutorial right below!
Tutorial for Using the Google Chrome Browser
By David Moore
This tutorial will be done with the latest update of Chrome.
I will also use JAWS 18 and NVDA 2017.2for this tutorial, because they both
work the same in Chrome.
Finally, I will use Windows 10 Creators Update latest public build.
I will assume that you have downloaded and installed Chrome.
There should be a shortcut on your desktop.
First, I will launch Chrome. We will not create a home page until we get to
the Chrome settings web page.
This is a lot like the Options page in Firefox, or the Options dialog in IE.
Pressing the Alt key, opens the one and only, Chrome menu, with many choices
that I will arrow down through.
The first very important step, is to press Windows+up arrow to maximise the
window. Chrome often opens with the window not maximise, and you will get
undesirable results.
I will press the Alt key.
The Chrome menu is open.
I will press insert+up arrow to hear the first option in this menu.
New Tab, CTRL+T.
You can press that command right from the web site you are on.
New Window, CTRL+N
You can press these commands right from your web page, instead of coming
here.
New incognito Window.
History sub menu.
I will press right arrow here to see what is in this sub menu!
History, CTRL+H
So, there is a key command for reading your history.
You can read a few sites you were on right here.
I will press left arrow to close this history sub menu.
Downloads, CTRL+J
There is the command for opening your downloads you have downloaded with
Chrome.
Next, the important Bookmarks sub menu.
I will press right arrow, to open this.
I hear, bookmark this page, CTRL+D
That command will bookmark the page you are reading.
Next down arrow, says show bookmarks bar, CTRL+Shift+B
That command, will show your bookmarks on your Chrome browser for all to
see. I do not want that.
Here is the important one.
manage bookmarks
The command is, CTRL+Shift+O
In here, you can organize your bookmarks into folders, see the bookmarks you
have imported from different browsers, and very importantly, you can
download, to your computer, an HTML file of all of your bookmarks in Chrome.
On your computer, you can press enter on this file, after it downloads, and
a page will show up in Chrome with a list of all bookmarks you have saved in
Chrome. This is an awesome way to download all of your bookmarks right to
your computer, so you can back them up.
That is all for manage bookmarks.
Next, I hear import bookmarks and settings.
press enter on this, and you can import all bookmarks and settings from IE,
and Firefox, right into Google Chrome, and they will be in their
corresponding folders.
Now, I hear all of my saved bookmarks as I continue to arrow down.
Very important!
Sometimes, when I open that bookmarks sub menu, I do not land on the choices
I mension here, but instead, I start hearing my saved bookmarks. If this
happens, I press up arrow a few times, and it gets me to these choices.
Keep in mind, that many of these choices, like bookmark manager, have key
commands, so you do not have to come to this bookmarks sub menu at all. You
only need to come here most of the time, to arrow through your saved
bookmarks, and enter on the desired one.
The next few are very self explanatory.
The next one I will mension, is the more tools submenu.
I will press right arrow on this.
I hear Save Page as, and the command, CTRL+S.
Next, Save to desktop.
This allows you to save the favorite of the page right to your desktop. This
is how you do this in Chrome, instead of doing this in the file menu in IE.
It is hidden under this more tools submenu.
Clear Browsing data, and there is the key command, CTRL+Shift+Delete key.
Extentions, In here, you can add extentions, delete extentions and so on.
These are the same as add ons, in IE.
They are called Extensions in Chrome.
The last two that I will mention, are settings, and the help sub menu.
Now, we will press enter on settings, and a web like page will open where
the virtual cursor

I am running W10, jaws 18, and google Chrome.

When I hit enter on a link on you tube I want to hear, the player does not
start automatically. Apparently there is a button to turn on the automatic
feature, and mine somehow got set to off. I can't find that button that
apparently exists. Is there any way to find that button so the player will

Okay, here is one old JAWS user's opinion.

I  Am now using Chrome as my primary browser.  Things load more reliably,
fewer lockups, more stable streaming video.  It was a long time coming for
me to make the switch, but I just found more and more times ending up having
to use Chrome because IE and Firefox were mis-firing.  Yes, Chrome does
operate differently and takes a bit of time to get used to, but for purposes
of reading what is on the web page, Chrome works the same with JAWS
navigation as is the case for IE or Firefox.  In fact, my transition to
Chrome started by my having links in emails open in Chrome, since that
provided me with the web page all ready to read.  From there over time I
learned the other basics such as saving favorites, and about a month ago
realized that Chrome had become my general use browser, so I made the final
switch and Chrome is now the default browser for all purposes.

I haven't used Chrome much, but I find using Firefox to be a lot like using
IE. Some commands and menu options are differently named, but it doesn't
take long to get used to. For example, the command to go to a URL is
CONTROL-L as opposed to CONTROL-O as is the case with IE.

Vicky, I have had major issues with this computer. I have been with
Microsoft support three days in a row for a total time of six hours, and
they can't make IE my default browser in W10. Somehow it disappeared and
they can't bring it back. So I like Chrome, because I can use it. It's not
as good as IE is, I don't think. Jim

Hi Wayne, chrome does work with win7. It uses almost the same keystrokes as
firefox.
Even when you try to customize it, JAWS announce it as 'mozilla'.

Yes - you need to know how the menus work, and what the Chrome keyboard
commands are.

I've been using Chrome on the Windows 10 system at work for a while now,
having largely switched from Firefox. Chrome is working reliably. I also use
it under Mac OS, where it is likewise very accessible.

I have never used any browser except IE. I would like to  use fire fox as my
default browser, but was wondering if there is anything I need to know about
fire fox working with jaws. Are there different key strokes needed with fire
fox etc. anything anyone can tell me about switching over to fire fox from
IE 11 would be greatly appreciated. I am running W10 and jaws 18. Thanks for

Setting default programs in w-10.
1. windows key+I, Open settings.
You are in a horizontal list of 9 items, use your right and left arrow keys
to move across the items.
 Right arrow to System, press enter, down arrow to default apps and press
enter.
3. Tab across this window, look for the internet browser which by default is
Microsoft edge.
4. Press the spacebar on the edge, tab to IE, press the spacebar, this will
set IE as your default browser.
