Hi Mike and anyone else who has encountered this problem,

If you can also send them a report (including operating system version, JAWS
version and any other relevant details) it may help to achieve a resolution.

Hi Jason,
there are no problems with having both Jaws and NVDA installed at the same time,

David.

Thank you. I've been considering this option. How well do JAWS and NVDA
co-exist on a Windows 10 machine - that is, are there any problems resulting
from having both installed at once? Obviously, only one of them can be running
at a time.

I'll need NVDA for work in order to test Web-based technologies anyway. Under
Windows 7, it didn't seem to cause any instability when installed alongside
JAWS.

A quick update: this issue can be easily reproduced, so I've sent a report
to Freedom Scientific Technical Support. It's either their bug or
Microsoft's bug - I don't mind who is responsible, as long as this and other
bug reports reach the right person ultimately.

Hi Jason,
you could use NVDA for command prompt windows, until Jaws is fixed,

David.

[JAWS-Users] Character under cursor repeatedly announced in command prompt windows - Windows 10/JAWS 17

2016-05-19 Thread Jason White
Hello,

Under JAWS 17 (latest update), and Windows 10 (all updates applied), if I
create a command prompt window (e.g., by starting PowerShell), then place the
cursor on a letter or other character that JAWS announces, it will repeatedly
announce the character that the cursor is on.

The output on the braille display is fine and does not change until I move the
cursor.

Is there a known solution? Some of us rely heavily on command-based tools even
under MS-Windows.
