I noticed on (I think it was) the current FSCast that VFO tells people to use 
either download method, even though their tech service people urge us to 
download directly from the website for the two reasons you give here, Rebecca. 
I wish they'd drop the option of downloading from the JAWS menu. Convenient, 
yes, but ultimately often extremely inconvenient.

As I wrote earlier, after installing the latest update to JAWS through the 
check for updates link in the JAWS help menu, I could not access Chrome 
websites after using MS Edge, unless I either restarted JAWS or the computer.

Keith Patterson downloaded JAWS through tandem and ran the JAWS repair.
Chrome works now after I use Edge.

He recommended always downloading the update directly from the website. I'd 
done that in the past, but alas, not this time. That way too, if there is a 
problem, the repair option is waiting in the download folder.
