[JAWS-Users] JAWS Not Saying Attachment in WLM

2012-06-20 Thread cjacobse
A further problem for me on my netbook is that when moving the jaws curser
to pc curser, I can not navagate to hear any message line or subject line. I
can only hear what is probably a menu =

new delete
caps l= only blank blank
And I just tried navagating thru this message = blank, blank
So very wierd. I do not get this blank blank when using jaws curser on the
internet or in word doc. not sure why this is happening.

This is sometimes so very blank blank frustrating! ha ha

Hello there;

You will need to label the graphic.

First, open windows live mail.

Now send yourself an attachment,
Making sure, you'll be able to recognize the subjectline.

Next,
Press insert+v=adjust jaws setting,
Or in jaws 13=quick settings.
Now press the letter g until you hear graphics,
You need to set the graphics to all,
You do this by pressing the spacebar, then press enter.

After you receive your message move to the message do not press enter.

You now need to:
route the jaws cursor to the pc cursor.
Insert+minus,
If your using a laptop,
Capslock-key+left bracket.

Navigate to the left of the line and listen to the graphic numbers.
The trick is, to be on the right numbered graphic,
You may want to Arrow up to the prior message and listen to the graphic
numbers there then go back down to the original line.
They should be different graphic numbers.
If your certain you're on the right graphic for attachment,
Press insert+g=activating label graphics,
Now type in attachments,
Press enter.
Note once you finish this exercise,
You would want to go back into the insert+v settings,
g=graphics,
Turn all graphics, to labeled, using the spacebar,
Now press enter.
Now when you arrow through the messages, jaws should indicate/announce
attachments.

Hope this helps.

Anyways a fix would be great!

You might also want to try resetting your inbox view.

Press Alt to get to the ribbon.
Move to the view menu and press down arrow
Press right arrow twice to move to Reset view
Press enter.

I had an issue where JAWS would not read the subject when in the inbox or
other folder despite it being on the screen. Now whenever I come across
this problem, I reset the view and JAWS is happy.

Hi Donnie,

If you have maximized the window and adjusted the various panes and JAWS is
still not announcing the attachments, you might want to make sure that
Outlook is using the attachment icon. When in your list of messages use Alt
followed by V followed by V to move into the view settings. (If using the
virtual ribbon then use Alt+V followed by V, right arrow into the submenu
and down to the View Settings item and press enter to open the dialog box.
Use Alt+C to open the Columns dialog. Tab to the list labeled show these
columns in this order. Use down arrow and see if Attachments is shown just
before the From item. If the attachment choice is not in the list then
use shift+tab to the Available columns list and use up or down arrow until
you find the Attachments choice. Tab to the Add button and use spacebar.
You can then tab into the Show these columns in this order list and find
the Attachments choice. You can then tab to the move up or move down
buttons and use them until the Attachments item is near the top of the list.
It is usually just before the From item. Use the OK button when done.

You should then go back into the view settings by using Alt followed by V
followed by V and then use Alt+M to open the Format Columns dialog. If
using the virtual ribbon then use Alt+V followed by V, right arrow into the
submenu and open the View Settings dialog box. Use Alt+M to open the Modify
Columns box. Find Attachment in the Available Columns list and tab to the
Format combo box. If icon is not the option being used then use up or
down arrow key in this combo box and select the icon option. Tab to OK and
use spacebar.

Take care.

Hi.
Jaws also says attachment here.
But when going through the list of messages jaws is very slow.
That is one of my main complaints about it.
Any suggestions to speed it up?

I agree, there is no need to label the graphic. Have you made sure that the
window is maximized. I have noticed in Windows7 and Office 2010 this is a
constant problem. My windows are rarely left maximized.

Also make sure that your view has not been changed. Maybe the reading pane
is on or some other pane or view is open. I'd like to think that Office
2010 comes with resident gremlins, but the truth is that it is too easy to
accidently activate or deactivate something and not know that you have done
it. Then there are those mouse users that just can't help themselves to
click on those pretty icons that let them so easily change what they are
looking at. They do not realize that the simplest change can send JAWS into
a tail spin.

Hello there;

Regarding your windows not being maximized,
You can try,
1, close outlook2010,
Now find the icon which you use to open outlook,
Bring up the properties,
Now tab until you hear;
Run combo box,
If it says normal, arrow down to maximize,
Now tab okay press enter.
Now when you open outlook, the screen/inbox should be maximized.
Or, you could use a program called, auto sizer.

Hello as was mentioned,
I would first check to see if,

The reading pane set to off,
The to-do-bar set to off,
Navigation pane set to normal,

Make sure your screen is maximized.

The question is whether the problem is with Jaws. Several members,
including me, have no trouble about Jaws not saying attachments, and I have
no problem with the messages being read too slowly.

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS Not Saying Attachment

2012-06-19 Thread Annette Carr
Thank you. I am using Windows7 and I learned something interesting when I
went to use your instructions. Since I launch most everything from the
Start Menu Edit Box, I had to go looking for Outlook. I first looked on the
Desktop. Once I found it I used the applications key and opened up
properties. I could not find a Run item in the dialog box. I then went
and found Outlook in the Start Menu in the Microsoft submenu. I again used
the applications key and selected properties. Like you said Run was there
and I changed it to maximize.

Thanks,
Annette

Hello there;

Regarding your windows not being maximized, You can try, 1, close
outlook2010, Now find the icon which you use to open outlook, Bring up the
properties, Now tab until you hear; Run combo box, If it says normal, arrow
down to maximize, Now tab okay press enter.
Now when you open outlook, the screen/inbox should be maximized.
Or, you could use a program called, auto sizer.

Annette

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS Not Saying Attachment

2012-06-19 Thread David
Hello there;

Note once you finish this exercise,
You would want to go back into the insert+v settings,
g=graphics,
Turn all graphics, to labeled, using the spacebar,
Now press enter.
Now when you arrow through the messages, jaws should indicate/announce
attachments.

Hope this helps.

 Hello

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS Not Saying Attachment

2012-06-19 Thread Brian Lee

Take care.

[JAWS-Users] JAWS Not Saying Attachment

2009-10-01 Thread Donnie Parrett
When I get an email with an attachment, JAWS will say the word attachment to
let me know that there
is something attached. After the email has been open and remains in my in box,
when I go to that
email again, JAWS does not say the word attachment. It just says dot dot and
then the sender's name
and the subject of the email. JAWS used to always say attachment if there was
something attached,
whether the email had been opened or not. Can someone please tell me how to
correct this? I am
using Outlook and JAWS 9.

Thanks,
Donnie
