Well I am running windows 7, 64-bit and Jaws 14 and am not having the same problem, have not really had any lockups in the latest update. I guess some do and some don't. I am also using a Dell laptop with Windows 7 and it constantly causes Windows explorer to crash. It often does this several times in a row and I have reverted to Jaws 13 most of the time recently. The laptop has also started not rebooting when it freezes. Then I wait several hours and it boots. But I am sure it is Jaws 14 conflicting with something. ctrl-insert-s and change profiles. JFW wouldn't have much to do with your dell not wanting to reboot immediately. Better have somebody take a look at it when this condition occurs and find out what is going on, otherwise you could be in for some major disappointment if it refuses to start altogether.
