Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws Not Announcing Safe To Remove

2018-01-01 Thread Mike B.
Hi Mr. Ed,

Checking / turning on the Windows Explorer option is not what made Jaws
announce the safe to remove message, that only makes the Safe to Remove icon
appear in the system tray, for me anyways. I had to make a sound change in
the Control panel / Sounds link / Sounds page to make Jaws announce / report
the message. This thread started out discussing Jaws not reporting the safe
to remove message, & morfed into how to make the icon show in the system
tray. LOL
Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws Not Announcing Safe To Remove

2018-01-01 Thread Robin Frost

Hi,
It's what worked for me here whether it does or doesn't force the
announcement of said message it does put the safely remove hardware option
in the system tray which makes many feel better even if some argue you don't
need to use it any longer. I always do just to be safe.
Note there can also be more than one windows explorer entry so someone might
have to activate or deactivate each to see what it might or might not cause
to appear or disappear. But since these are toggles that's easy enough to
do.

Take good care.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Jaws Not Announcing Safe To Remove

Hi All,

Running Widows 10 Creator & J16 thru J2018. When I want to remove an
external drive using the Safe to Remove option from the system tray Jaws
does not,

Safe To Remove Hardware: The 'USB Mass Storage Device' device can now be
safely removed from the computer.

when I press enter on the drive I want to disconnect. How can I get Jaws to
announce the above message in Widows 10? I've been through Sounds in the
control panel, but couldn't find it there, but did I overlook it? All help
will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much, & a happy New Year to all.

Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool.

Try moving to the drive using File Explorer and using the context menu to
detach it.
