[JAWS-Users] MS Word and Emphasized words
To all Listers: Please forgive the sometimers if this has been discussed before. I am needing to know how to set JAWS to read words, in MS Word 2007, that are emphasized by italics. I looked under the JAWS verbosity settings and could not find what I am looking for. Any help will be accepted with an attitude of thanks. I am using Windows Vista, 32 bit system, and JAWS version 11. Jerry For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

Try the schemes with insert alt s. Find the one that says attributes. You should have to up arrow to reach it. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Jerry Martin Sent: Wednesday, December 05, 2012 9:30 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] MS Word and Emphasized words To all Listers: Please forgive the sometimers if this has been discussed before. Re: [JAWS-Users] MS Word and Emphasized words
Use the speech and sound schemes manager to accomplish your goal. press the jaws hotkey insert+alt+S to bring up the speech and sound schemes dialog. then, in the list view, arrow , up or down to any item that has attributes in the name. Personally, I usually use the classic with attributes, fonts and colors selection when I'm proofreading a document. then OK the dialog. Now, as you arrow up and down through your document, whenever an underlined, bolded, or italicized chunk of text is encountered, JAWS will say so in a slightly different voice. when the attributed text ends, (when the Italics end and the document returns to normal text), JAWS will say normal. You can read more about this in the JAWS basic training that came with JAWS. From the JAWS window, Press Alt+H for the help menu, then press enter on the training item. That'll put you into the FS daisy reader and all the basic training books are listed there. You may have to download the materials - just press enter on the xtra-speech and sounds manager book you want and if it needs to be downloaded, jaws will download it for you. - Original Message - From: Jerry Martin jandymar...@clear.net To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Wednesday, December 05, 2012 9:30 AM Subject: [JAWS-Users] MS Word and Emphasized words To all Listers: Please forgive the sometimers if this has been discussed before.
