[JAWS-Users] Microsoft Excel 2010 And JAWS

2015-07-01 Thread Hicks Steven (CORNWALL IT SERVICES)
Hi friends,

Is there a way to read titles in excel with a key press? I noted the previous
conversation on how to set the heading and specify them using insert+v but I am
just wondering if there is a way to read the cell at the top of a colum if it a
heading.
This used to work with alt+1 but that seems to have stopped working a while
ago.For example, I would have a list of items and I would like to read the cell
in the top of that column.

Brilliant, John. I use the Insert v technique all of the time but I
never thought to shorten my work by using the search function. A great
exercise this. I went for years without the valuable help reading
headers offers.

Mr. Hicks,
You have several ways to accomplish this. Yes, using Excel 2010, it is
still possible.

1. Assuming that the titles are in the first box at the top of each column,
line up on the first heading
2. Press the following key combination: INSERT+CONTROL+ALT+C
Jaws will respond with a message indicating that the reading for column
headings is engaged.

This setting can also be saved permanently by entering the Quick Settings
dialog, INSERT+V
1. In the Edit box, type titles
2. The first setting is one which defaults to off indicating that column and
row headings are to be read. The other options are for all spreadsheets or
this one alone.
Note: Before attempting these settings, make sure that your focus is on the
intersection of the first column and the first row.
