JAWS pronounces "putting" through my Dectalk Express synthesizer consistently,
and not as "patting" nor the way golfers do. So the culprit here seems to be
Eloquence.

Innamuddin,

The English word "putting" can be both a description of placing something on
something else, or tapping a golf ball into a hole. They are pronounced
differently. I have heard JAWS pronounce it both ways, depending on the context.

I am putting my shoes on.

In golf, she is good at putting.

So it appears that when the word is at the end of a sentence, it is pronounced
as in golf.

I think the mispronunciation in the subject line is because the word is
followed by a fully-capitalized word, and it is being treated as preceding a
new phrase.

Dear friend, let me tell you a new thing.
When I saw this email for the first time, my JAWS has pronounced the word
Putting as Patting.
I have checked with NVDA and with narrator and with them the pronounciation
was right but with JAWS the pronounciation was wrong.
Please help me in this regard to fix it!

If you are not a long time user then you might just as well require more
verbiage from JAWS to let you know what is going on. I myself find the extra
information useful especially in a new application, but for one that has
been around for a long time I will cut back on the verbosity. It all depends
on what makes the user comfortable.

Like Rick said there is just too much to remember it all, so don't feel bad

Hi Sandy,

Not necessarily, but for someone that has been using Jaws for a long time,
knows what's going to be reported by Jaws, & just doesn't want to hear all
the excess speaking that Jaws will report while they're doing whatever
computer functions they're performing throughout the day.

Hi Sandy,

Jaws has 3 modes of operation. Beginner, Intermediate, & Advanced. The
higher the level you select to run, the less Jaws will speak as you use the
program, & this means all across the board. So, if you're running Beginner
you will hear much more of Jaws as you do your work, email, web serfing,
