Re: [JAWS-Users] blank lines in office 2013

2017-03-14 Thread Adrian Spratt
Leonard, I assume this procedure is no different from Word 2010, which I use.
To eliminate blank lines, I use the search and replace function, control-h,
with more than one instance of ^p for the search term and possibly nothing in
the replace field. ^p is the Word symbol for paragraph.
This gets tricky because you might not want to eliminate every example of an
extra line. Also, when you search for ^p^p (two paragraph signs), you might not
pick up all the extra lines because there's a space in-between. So I first
search for the paragraph sign and space and replace each instance with a
paragraph sign absent the space. Only then do I search and replace for the ^p^p
term.
I could go on about this and send you right to sleep, but this general concept
works for me.

2017-03-14 Thread Subash
Hi Leonard, I don't have office 13, but in earlier versions of office, if
the document has lots of blank lines between text, in the find what field, I
would check the amount of blank lines I need to get rid of, press the enter
key as to the amount of blanks I want to remove, then in the replace
field, I press the space key once and go from there.
In lots of documents like those, I find the blanklines are not consistent,
so I had to go through the find/replace more than once.

Re: [JAWS-Users] blank spaces

2008-11-07 Thread Brian Lee

Hello Kathy,

You can have JAWS list grammatical errors by using the keystroke
CTRL-shift-G. Using the laptop configuration it is shift-Caps lock-G. The
keystroke will list the grammatical errors. You need to go to each error by
pressing enter key on the choice in the list in order to correct the error.
After correcting an error you need to use the keystroke again, and continue
listing and correcting the grammatical errors. The problem is that JAWS
does not move the cursor right to the error, but rather to the beginning of
the sentence that contains the error. This process can be quite time
consuming. You can also list spelling errors using Alt-shift-L.

Another way you can move to grammatical errors is to turn on quick access
keys using insert-Z or with laptop configuration Caps lock-Z and then
pressing the letter A to move from grammatical error to grammatical error
and the letter M to move from spelling error to spelling error. The
problem is that you need to toggle quick keys off by using the same
keystroke before you can make corrections.

You might not be able to use some of these keystrokes if you have an older
version of JAWS, as the quick keys feature is relatively new in the
program.

Take care.

Hi Mattias,
To stop Jaws from reading blank lines follow the steps below.
1. Open the Jaws Default configuration manager.
2. Arrow down to Say All Options and press enter.
3. Tab until you hear Jaws read say all, say blank lines , if this box is
checked, press the space bar to uncheck it. Then tab to okay and press
enter. Then press control plus the s keys to save your selection and alt f4
to close.

Mike

Re: [JAWS-Users] Blank lines

2008-08-18 Thread Mike Barbara
Hi Donnie,

I am running XP home Jaws 9.0.2169 and I just went in and checked the box
in question and when reading your Email it would say blank whenever there
was a blank line. Then I went in and unchecked it and Jaws didn't read
blank whenever there is a blank line. I don't have Jaws 7 on my machine
anymore so that is something I cannot check. Sorry about not stating what
version of Jaws I am running in the original post. Take care.

Mike
