[JAWS-Users] how in the world do you use windows live messenger 2011?
I am completely frustrated here. I am running windows 7, jaws 12, on a 64 bit machine. I updated my windows live essentials to 2011, and now I can't use messenger, because I can't figure it out. I did have 10 contacts in windows live 2009, but only 2 show up now. I can't figure out how to add a contact either. If I could figure out how to go back to windows live 2009, I would do that, but don't know how to do that either. I have Skype, and my contact is, jim332. if someone will help me by walking through messenger and showing me how to fix stuff, or write me off list, and either tell me how to use 2011 or get back windows live 2009 it will be greatly appreciated. Hi Jim. The simple answer is you don't use it lol. Its impossible to use with jaws as usual microsoft haven't bothered to consider accessibility. I'd advise you to downgrade to the previous version then make sure not to update via windows update even when its offered to you, you should be able to untick it. This is the full offline installer, when installing simply untick the apps you don't want in the list, i just installed messenger i never install any of their other stuff if i can help it... PS: when installed, sign in as normal then go to tools then to options, and go to the layout section in the list. Press tab, and untick the following boxes: Show favourites, show groups, show the tab bar, and show the what's new list. then click ok, this'll make your experience a lot easier. Also if contacts are arranged in groups you can change that option from this section as well to online status etc. Mo. That is exactly what I was going to say as well. At this point you're probably better off switching as I did fulltime to aim or use the chat feature in skype. May also wanta consider joining using twitter. use quitter to pull down work with your tweets. Basically have just told folks if you wanta talk to me you'll have to do it threw either one of those methods or not at all. Or just pick up the old twisted pair do it the old-fashioned way.
