Re: [JAWS-Users] mixing bits.

2013-01-10 Thread Hans Pauli Sundstein

Hi Dan.

If you don't place the 32 bit in syswow64 and the 64 bit one in the system32
folder, it will not work.

Good luck.

Hans Pauli.

Eric,

Thanks for the response. Can you tell me if I am missing something here.

I am going to be one of those trouble maker users where I can't do
anything the easy way. I have to install Java 1.6 because currently, java
1.7 does not work with Oracle applications. Soo, java 1.6 it is.

I've downloaded and installed the latest java 1.6 for both 32 and 64 bit
systems.

I've downloaded and installed the java access bridge.

I've rebooted my system.

Running JAWS 13, Windows 7.

Running internet Explorer, 64 bit, the java application comes up and
sighted folks say it is working, but JAWS reports nothing, absolutely
nothing.

Do you know if the installation instructions for the Access Bridge on
Oracle's site are accurate? There is definitely one set of instructions
that appear backwards as they say to install the 32 bit library in
%windowshome%/syswow64 and the 64 bit library in %windowshome%system32.
Which, I did not do, I did it the logical way. But when has logic ever
been a part of software.

Is there anything I need to do to JAWS after installing the Access Bridge?

Hi,

You could install the 64 bit access bridge or freedom has a guide on how to
compile the access bridge to run on both. That is what I had to do to get
both to work.

Hi Dan. You answered your own question really, you can't run anything but
the current version of the os you have. 64 bit needs just that. Sorry I
can't help any more then that, maybe someone else might have a better
answer.

Hi Dan,

You can't install the 32 bit JAWS in 64 bit Windows. Please review the
following TSN from the Freedom Support pages. It might help you get this
working.

The app apparently will not work with a 64 bit browser.

Can I run 32 bit JAWS on the 64 bit OS? Can I have both 32 and 64 bit

JAWS on the same box?

Thanks.
