Notepad is on the start menu. I press the Windows button and the search edit 
comes up, I up arrow one time, right arrow to open all programs, down arrow 
and there is notepad with a sub menu, I right arrow to open the sub menu and 
there is the list of the previous 10 files that Notepad had open.  Problem 
is that in Windows 10 is that I can't figure how to get Notepad on the start 
menu with a sub menu. Tom

If you know the file name, hit control+ esc and a search box will come up,
enter the file name and it will be in a  list.
Or you can create another Note pad file, save it, but when the save dialog
comes up it will show the last path you saved in.

Hi, did you check your desktop? When I didn't designate a path it went
there, and it would say "untitled document" since you didn't give it a

Generally when that happens to me in Notepad it stores it where I stored the
prior file.  Of course, that is a problem if you cannot remember where the
prior file went.  But hopefully you can remember the name of one of those
files and search for it.

Then you should get just what you paste.  Only if you have the word document 
formatted heavily, then you might get some bad things like that happening.

Thank you! That worked! Also thank you Flor for Mikes plajorism.

The only issue I had is I was only able to type in the ^p and couldn't tab
to the button. I just did the alt a keystroke but strange how jaws wasn't
reading anything else unless I used the jaws curser. Why?
I'm getting to old for these problems...

field blank. tab to Replace All or press alt+a. After a bit, word will tell
you that it has made xxx replacements, xxx being the number of replacements.
Spacebar the OK button & press escape to close the Find & Replace dialogue.

I mentioned that a blank is always following a space in my notepad document.
I failed to maention the following.
Is it possible or common for blanks to be there after pasting?
I just noticed when pasting into a word document from notepad, this is where
the blanks are coming from.

Is there a way using the find and replace to remove all these blanks?

Has anyone had this issue and I ask to see if its common.

When writing in notepad, do you notice that in the middle of your sentence,
it will read just find then there is a break of sort, only to find out there
was a space followed by a blank.

This happens to me a lot and I don't remember pressing enter to put that
blank there and only one space.

Is there a resolution to this?Thank you.

I wonder  if you couldn't get that file from Freedom Scientific.  What it
does is show HJ Pad in a particular language.  So, I'm very surprised that
it doesn't work with Windows 7.
Maybe you should send a message to Freedom about this.  That would seem to
be a very important issue to me.

I use both. I do not see why I need to only use. Jaws suppose to make it 
accessible to us. Beside it worked before. I use it to read text files.

FYI. Freedomscientific. suggested the following and worked well for my. Thanks 
for helping me. I glad I call them.
start/all programs/JAWS 11.0/Explore JAWS/Explore my settings

and delete the notepad.jcf file and see if this resolve your issue.

[JAWS-Users] Notepad inserting tabs

Hi List:

I have a very annoying problem with notepad. It keeps wanting to insert tab 
breaks in to my notes. But the strange this is that if I do a backspace, it 
removes all the tabs it puts in up to the last ones I cleared. It only inserts 
the tab breaks in the new stuff I type. 

How do I fix this?

Thank you.  That was the problem.  Do I ever feel like a dummy.  But I 
am glad to have notepad back.  I probably need to download that little 
program I saw somewhere that automatically maximizes a window. Then I won't 
have to worry about it.

The program your referring to is called Auto Sizer.  You can download it at
www.jfwlite.com/programs

It's a ways down the page.  To find it quicker, hit insert F7 to bring up a 
links list.  Then just keep hitting the letter A until you hear it say, 
AutoSizer Download.  That's the link you want.

Hi,
Another thing to try is in Notepad, hit the alt key, right arrow to format
and uparow. If word wrap is not checked, hit the enter key. If it is
checked, press the alt key to leave the menu without changing it.

Hi,
When anything is opened in Notepad Jaws will not read it at all.  I can't do
a Select all and copy it to another kind of document, either.  All I can do
usually is do a Save As and then open the new doc in another program.  I
changed the Open with to open txt files in WordPad but I would like to fix
the Notepad since several programs I have installed open the reports in
Notepad and I can't read them at all.
I am using Jaws 9 with XP on a Dell laptop.
