Re: [JAWS-Users] putting a volume control on the desk top

2012-10-24 Thread inthaneelf
I don't know if you got an answer or not so here one is:
 1. press windows key and type the following in the search field: SndVol
2. wait until you hear your screen reader read the first item wich is
SndVol and hit the application key.
3. find the send to submenu with up/down arrows and open it with right
arrow.
4. Up arrow a few times until you hear desktop create a short cut or
something similar and hit enter. I am not sure what it is called in
english as i am using a french version of windows.
5. now go to your desktop and locate the shortCut you've just created
and press alt lus enter. When properties dialog open, keep tabbing until
you land on an edit field that asks you to choose a hotkey. Press the
combinition of keys that you want and hit enter.

Now, whenever your volume is muted somehow, You just press the hotkey
and wait for a short while, then you hit the home key once and
everything will be back in order. I hope this will work for you

HTH,
inthane

I have a windows 7 machine and it does not have adjustments to volume
control except in the system tray I was wondering how to put the icon on the
desktop. I looked around but could not find how to do it. I could do it on
a xp machine but can't find the place to send it to the desk top. I like
this laptop very much but I wish it had a volume control button on it.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] putting a volume control on the desk top

I have a windows 7 machine and it does not have adjustments to volume
control except in the system tray I was wondering how to put the icon on
the
desktop. I looked around but could not find how to do it. I could do it
on
a xp machine but can't find the place to send it to the desk top. I like
this laptop very much but I wish it had a volume control button on it.

2012-10-23 Thread david
Hello James;
Yes you can follow the same steps for XP,
However, when you type in the edit box,
You need to type in:
Sndvol32
So the steps would be;

1, go to desktop,
Windows key+m,

2, press the keystroke,
Ctrl+spacebar,
To unselect all icons.

3, press the applications key, and down arrow and enter on, New sub menu.

4, now arrow and enter on,
New shortcut.

5,Now type the following in the edit box,
Sndvol32
6, tab next, press enter.
You will see/hear;
Sndvol32.exe
Tab finish press enter.

Now, if you would like a hot-key,

1, desktop,
Press the letter s until you hear,
sndvol.exe.

2, now press alt+enter to bring up the properties,

3, tab until you hear;
Shortcut key none,
Here you could type v=volume or what ever letter you wish, Now press
enter.
So, alt+ctrl+v would bring up the sndvol properties page.

Hope this helps.
