Re: [JAWS-Users] regarding Skype scripts

2014-09-16 Thread Mike O'Brien
Hi

I believe that it was the next version of JAWS after the MyExtensions option
was introduced that allowed you to front end any script file in the shared
settings folder by having a script file with the same name and a use
statement for the shared settings file in your user settings folder. For
example, you could create your own totally separate default script file in
your user settings file without touching the shared settings default shared
file and include a use statement for the shared settings default script
file. If the Skype scripts actually modify the shared settings default file
and save the JSB file to your user settings folder, then you should
reinstall them after every JAWS update. But if they only front end the
shared settings default scripts without changing them, then the Skye scripts
do not need to be reinstalled. I don't know how the Skype scripts handle
the default file. I also don't know whether FS recommends the MyExtensions
approach or creating your own front end script file. In the MyExtensions
file, can you have a script with the same name as a script in the default
file, and is that script in the MyExtensions actually called after the
default script is executed? With a front end script file, any duplicate
script would be called in the front end file first, and that script can
decide whether or not to call the sane named default script.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] regarding Skype scripts

I find this a conundrum, FS came up with the my extensions option so we
could add our own modifications to the script set without disturbing what
they put in there by default. This in my mind is a good thing because both
things leave the other alone and nobody gets in anybody else's' way. Now
having said this I notice that the Skype scripts which are well written
modify the default script file. Experience has taught us that this might not
always work out if FS comes up with an update like what happened 2 and a
half years ago.

So the question is in order to prevent such a conflict in the future do we
re-install the Skype scripts whenever a JAWS update is released, after
deleting the default JSS file in our own personal user directory? I ask this
since the Skype scripts modify the default files instead of the my
extensions file.

Any ideas out there folks?

[JAWS-Users] regarding Skype

2014-03-23 Thread Mick Du Buisson
Hi there,

Need some help or advice about using Skype. I have two programs on my
Computer, they are jaws 12 and Dolphin guide and used to be able to work on
Skype on Dolphin Guide, but unfortunately, the Earphones will not work on
Dolphin guide now, for some reason as it works on Window's and jaws which I
don't seem to be able to get to work. Any advice would be accepted and
taken onboard.

Scouse Mick.
