Re: [JAWS-Users] scan for system errors
start the scan, wait a few minutes and jaws will announce 1 percent and so forth every now and then. I guess depending on how much stuff is on your computer determines how fast the scan progresses. on my system it only took like 15 minutes so I was able to follow every jaws announceing of percentage. now this monitering probably isn't for everyone because you do nothing in the process but wait for jaws announcing of percentage. my time is basically not important but I'm sure others are so I guess hunting for the log is best. -Original Message- From: Greg Washington Sent: Tuesday, March 10, 2015 7:52 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] scan for system errors Yes, I'm curious too. Re: [JAWS-Users] scan for system errors
I finally got the scan to run completely through, with some sighted help and found the log. I wouldn't say this is very accessible. It started of with saying it was initializing 1 percent complete through initializing 100 percent. I tabbed around and located some dialogue that said it was evaluating the hard drive. My sighted help said there was something up in the corner of the screen whirling around. I left it to have breakfast and when I returned there was no sign of anything going on. I went to the windows log per Mario's instructions and found the log it had created and opened it in Note Pad. I started Jaws reading and after an hour and a half it was still reading so I skipped to the bottom of the file, then backed up a couple of pages and started reading again. Result! Don't know any more than I did before I ran the scan, The log was mostly numbers. Saw one destroyed, Many failed and not applicable, and various other phrases. Most of the report would be decipherable only to the programmer who wrote the scan program or someone who had access to his documentation for the program.
