hello; there has been a problem with research it and mlb for sometime now! mlb has made changes to the web site, consequently research it is now broken. if you want scores and standings, you can use the following links, baseball scores; http://tinyurl.com/objk9xe baseball standings; http://tinyurl.com/osdejxv once you click on the link and the page loads, just do a search for the prefered team, example, ctrl+f=find, now type, Yankees press enter, you will arrive at the information. know need for research it. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Troy Burnham Sent: Saturday, July 4, 2015 8:39 PM To: Jaws Users List Subject: [JAWS-Users] the latest Jaws 16 and research it Hi All, Is there a problem with the latest Jaws update and research it? I just did control plus shift plus 8, and although it turns the paragraph markers off, it doesn't turn the line notifications off. The interesting thing is that I took the text from the web page I was working with, pasted it into a notepad file, and then into a word file, and the various heading and paragraph markers re-appeared. Re: [JAWS-Users] Different JAWS versions
As long as those versions are still on your system, you can open an older version. 1. Make sure that the version you need is still in your system. 2. Next, make sure that it has an icon on your Desktop. 3. If you are adding an icon, you need to explore that version of Jaws and locate the .exe file. 4. Make sure that the version number is included in the icon. E. G. "jaws 14" 5. Move to that version of Jaws and press Enter. Note: When this version of Jaws is loaded, it will take your current version off line and load the earlier version. Your current version of Jaws has probably been set up to load automatically when you start your system. If you shut down your system, it will reboot with that version active. Re: [JAWS-Users] Permanently Turning Off The Reading Of Headings AndParagraph Markers
Hello Dr. Tom, Here are a few suggestions: If you use the JAWS key with V, type in the word "line", and use down arrow key you will have two results. The "new lines and paragraphs indication" should be set to Off. Press spacebar repeatedly until the off setting is reached. Use OK until out of dialog boxes. Use JAWS key with V and type in the word "heading." Use the spacebar until the Off option is active if you don't want any heading announced in the document. Other options are "On" and "Heading with level." Use OK until out of dialog boxes. If you are using Word 2013, I have noticed that the hotkey of CTRL+Shift+8 doesn't turn on and off the View All option on some systems. In Word 2013 use Alt followed by H followed by 8 to do that function. The View All option in Word 2013 was moved to the home tab of the ribbon instead of the view tab. Take care. Re: [JAWS-Users] Permanently Turning Off The Reading Of Headings AndParagraph Markers
Brian: Since I am using Word 2010 here, I have tried both of the options you have suggested. Interestingly, I can get the paragraph and line indications to turn off in a given document. However, when I go back to the web page and copy and paste another section into a new document, the paragraph and line indications re-appear. I think it may have something to do with the content of the web page itself. The thing is that once the line and paragraph indications re-appear, they appear in all other documents I access, so I have to go through the process of disabling them again. My solution for now is to copy and paste the web content into a notepad texxt file, and save it that way. I tried saving the copied texxt file into Word, but the marker indications re-appeared there too. Take care. Unfortunately, nothing happened on this particular computer when I did the Alt H followed by 8. Using Jaws version 16.0.3048 with Windows 7 and Word 2010. I have encountered a very strange problem when working with the text from e-mails that have been saved as Microsoft Word files. It seems that whenever I work with or create the files, paragraph and heading markers are read within the file. I can turn this off by going into the Jaws Quick settings menu, but as soon as I resume the editing again, paragraph and heading markers re-appear and are read in the newly-edited document. Interestingly, they are also now read in any other MS Word document I open later on. Does anyone know how I can turn the reading of paragraph and heading markers off for good! Re: [JAWS-Users] using 2 sound cards
Hi Mario, 1. Control Panel. 2. Device Manager, press enter, & tab 1 time into a Tree View. 3. Arrow down to, Sound, video and game controllers, & right arrow to open. 4. Arrow down & highlight the soundcard you want to work with, & press enter to open this soundcards properties. 5. Control + Tab to the Driver tab, tab to, Enable / Disable. If this soundcard is enabled you will get a disable button, & if it's disabled you will get an enable button. If you make any changes apply & okay them. HTH Take care. Re: [JAWS-Users] Permanently Turning Off The Reading Of Headings AndParagraph Markers
Tom, I use the Paste Special Unformatted Text frequently when I am copying and pasting information from the web. It pastes only the text and not the graphics, hyperlinks and all of the formatting. The only time I use it when I am working on copying information from other documents is when I plan to do my own formatting once I've gathered all of the information into my document. So if you are taking information from a webpage, then you most likely do not want the formatting as they have it on the webpage. The use of headings on a webpage serves a different purpose then in a document in many cases. Re: [JAWS-Users] Permanently Turning Off The Reading OfHeadings AndParagraph Markers
Tom, Paste special takes out the formatting basically and just pastes as text. You might use this if you copy from a document with different formatting; and particularly if you copy from the web, where embedded HTML coding can get in and screw-up your beautiful document royally. In the stuff I've read, a lot of programs allow control-shift-V for paste special. Unfortunately, I don't think Word does. In Word 2010, you are supposed to do the normal paste command--control-V--and then, follow that with a simple press of the control key. This is the control key by itself, so you'll probably need to do the pass-through key in Jaws. Then, a grid will pop up with four options: The keyboard options are: H Use destination theme; K Keep source formatting; M Merge formatting; and T Keep text only (the unformatted text option). I don't know if this will work for your needs. Because I have paste set in the Word options, I couldn't bring up these choices in my version of Word 2010. Supposedly, Jaws appears to also show this if you use the apps key where there is a paste special submenu that Jaws identifies as a table grid. But, mine only has the one option.
