5.2 (64 BIT) with IBM jdk 1.4.1 (64 BIT).

-Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true

Must be a bug of the AIX JDK; port 0 means ephemeral and the
OS should select a port for you.
Check whether this is a  well-known bug with IBM

In the UDP.createSockets() method the following code fails:

  send_sock = new DatagramSocket(0, bind_addr);

returns following stacktrace:

java.net.BindException: The socket name is not available on 
this system.
at java.net.PlainDatagramSocketImpl.bind(Native 
Method)
at java.net.DatagramSocket.bind
(DatagramSocket.java:361)
at java.net.DatagramSocket.init
(DatagramSocket.java:203)
at java.net.DatagramSocket.init
(DatagramSocket.java:254)
 etc...


I guess that the problem is port 0 on AIX.
