[JBoss-dev] [Design of JBoss Portal] - Help - wierd "No Child" error in portal MBean on startup.

2005-02-06 Thread kgelner
I have just ran into a weird situation. First I updated fresh from CVS,
including new directories. Then I compiled and deployed the "forums" module,
along with the DB schema - I could run the portal, but when I selected the
forums link I got an error saying that no main method was found in the
servlet...

But that's not my problem now. Thinking it might help, I went into the "Build"
directory and ran build.sh and then "build.sh deploy" both seemed to run fine.

However, now when I start JBoss I get this message right near the end of
startup:

  | 01:39:54,230 ERROR [URLDeploymentScanner] Incomplete Deployment listing:
  | MBeans waiting for other MBeans:
  | ObjectName: portal:service=Deployer,type=Adapter
  | state: FAILED
  | I Depend On: jboss.web:service=WebServer
  | portal:service=ServerManager
  |
  | Depends On Me: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: No child
  |
  | MBEANS THAT ARE THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM:
  | ObjectName: portal:service=Deployer,type=Adapter
  | state: FAILED
  | I Depend On: jboss.web:service=WebServer
  | portal:service=ServerManager
  |
  | Depends On Me: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: No child
  |

Which relates to an earlier exception on startup:

  | 01:39:47,657 WARN [ServiceController] Problem starting service
portal:service=Deployer,type=Adapter
  | java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: No child
  | at org.jboss.portal.common.util.XML.getSingleChild(XML.java:177)

  | at
org.jboss.portal.server.deployment.SimpleDeploymentReactor.process(SimpleDeploymentReactor.java:119)
  |

(rest of stack trace removed)

Now when I go to http://localhost:8080/portal, I just get a null pointer
exception and nothing works.

Any ideas what I might have done to start this happening, or how I can fix it?

[JBoss-dev] [Design of JBoss Eclipse IDE (dev)] - Unable to build EclipseIDE

2005-02-06 Thread sgodden
Running Eclipse 3.0.1 200409161125

Used the .psd to chcek out all the sources.
Installed all the EMF / XSD plugins.
Imported binary projects from the target platform, which made e.g.
org.eclipse.xsd appear in the workspace.

Tried to run 'Create Ant file' on the feature.xml and got the message

'Unable to find plug-in: org.eclipse.xsd_2.0.1'

The plugin is called plain 'org.eclipse.xsd'.

I get the feeling I'm doing something very stupid...

I think it might be because I have installed too recent dev builds.

Sorry, I'll check it out properly and post if still a problem.

Nope. I've started from scratch and installed the EMF 2.0.1 release, and I
still get the same error.

How do I get around this?

I found that the name and version were not set in the imported plugin projects
for emf and xsd.

I filled them in manually and then everything built fine.

Did I do something wrong, or does this need to go on the WIKI?

[JBoss-dev] [Design of JBoss Eclipse IDE (dev)] - cannot compile - reference to DataChoiceDialog.getPackaginDa

2005-02-06 Thread sgodden
Checked out the latest cvs, and there is an error in plugin 'packaging.ui'.

At line 325 of ConfigurationViewer.java, there is a reference to the undefined
method DataChoiceDialog.getPackagingData.

Yet the ant build works

Can someone explain?

In addition, there seem to be a few problems with project configurations in
some of the plugins that have to be corrected manually to make red crosses go
away.

Hi everyone,

I configured JBoss by following the instruction in the
link:http://www.jboss.org/developers/projects/jboss/tc5-clustering.html

But I got following error message when I started the JBoss:

[JBossCacheService] jboss.cache:service=TomcatClusteringCache service to Tomcat

[JBossCacheManager] JBossCacheService to Tomcat clustering not found
[TomcatDeployer] Failed to setup clustering, clustering disabled

Do you guys know what is wrong with my configuration?

Thanks in advance.

[JBoss-dev] [Design the new POJO MicroContainer] - Boston meeting notes: AOP container integration

2005-02-06 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
The following are the assumptions and decisions taken about the aop container
integration.

Since container is an overloaded word, in this context it means the advisor
in jboss-aop language.

Assumptions/Decisions:

Interceptor SPI - JBoss AOP model will be the only container integration
By this we mean when writing advises/interceptors these will be targeted at
JBoss AOP. There will no attempt to define an interface spi to expose this
abstraction.
i.e. Invocation, Interceptors, etc.
These are an implementation details of JBoss AOP. The integration/abstraction
belongs
at the JoinPoint model (JoinPointFactory)

ClassAdaptor - The integration will be done through something we have
tentatively called a ClassAdaptor
The ClassAdaptor is responsible for the following operations
(see elsewhere for the details of these functions):
* ClassData access to the class metamodel (inc before the class is not loaded)
* Annotation processing - for retrieving and defining annotations and their
overrides
(inc before the class is not loaded)
* Analysing the dependencies of a class, i.e. those introduced via annotations
and
the annotations on aop advices
* Obtaining access to the JoinPointFactory (JPF) which provides access to the
join point model

There will be two ClassAdaptor implementations:
* AOPClassAdaptor - too use an advised bean
* BeanClassAdaptor - for unadvised beans that don't need a container (i.e.
simple java bean)

AOP and the MicroContainer - Push/Pull configurations
AOP must still work standalone and in JBoss3 and JBoss4, even after the changes
we are making
This means AOP must effectively work in three modes
* The current pull configuration where advisors pull their configuration from
the AspectManager
* A push model where the container "pushes" configuration to the advisor and
advices
* A mixture of the two above where some advices (those in the microcontainer)
use push
and others (applications deployed in JBoss) use pull
This will be achieved by the MicroContainer using the ClassAdaptor to
pre-analyse the
advice configuration and dependencies declared on classes before the class is
loaded.
Only when the dependencies are satisfied will load the class and retrieve the
Advisor (JoinPointFactory)
The pull model may fail if dependencies are not satisfied. This is what you get
if you
don't use the MicroContainer/IOC

Advisor types - The different advisor usage
The type of AOP advisor will vary with the usage/configuration:
* ClassAdvisor - as now for JBoss AOP where the bean instance requires no
special
annotation overrides at the instance level
* InstanceAdvisor - where the MicroContainer wants to override annotations at
the
bean instance level
* ProxyAdvisor - where the bean instance has not been instrumented for AOP -
this will have the disadvantage that some join points like field interception
will not work

AspectFactory names - dual registry
The aspect factory names are used in two places
* The AspectManager to configure pointcut advices
* The MicroContainer to determine whether the dependencies are satisfied
They will have the same name in both configuration spaces

Standalone MicroContainer
The core micro container will know nothing about AOP, it will use the
BeanClassAdaptor.
An extension to the MC's controller will allow the AOPClassAdaptor to be used
instead
when the MC is deployed with AOP

[JBoss-dev] [Design of JBoss Portal] - READ ME BEFORE POSTING

2005-02-06 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Here is the way to ask for help the good way:

1) describe your environment:
-> What JBoss version are you using
-> What JBoss Portal version are you using (and if it's from CVS, sources,
binaries)
-> What database you are using with version number
-> What JDBC connector you are using

2) describe the problem:
-> Error message ? Which one, are you sure it's the most relevant one ? If
not, post them all

3) give us information
-> stack trace (not only the line you think is relevant, very often 1 line
of stack trace is useless). Showing lines that appear just before the error
message can be useful as well
-> your config files if you modified them
-> a partial dump of your database if your problem is related to database
can be useful

Basically: don't just send a message saying "It does not work, how can i make
it work ?". If you say there are errors, say what errors and if you are not
sure give us all errors.

If you do so, we will all save precious time.
If you do the "it does not work, how can i make it work ?" don't expect any
answer.

Thanks, now feel free to ask any question :)

[JBoss-dev] [Design the new POJO MicroContainer] - Boston meeting notes: ClassData model

2005-02-06 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
The BeanInfo model will be replaced with a more appropriate abstraction.

* The ClassData model defines the class
* The BeanInfo model moves the MicroContainer module

ClassData
The ClassData provides information about a Class/Field/Method/Parameter and
their
annotations, etc.
The ClassData will be similar to the current ClassInfo, however it will be
extended
such that JBossAOP can use it as a "replacement" for the javassist model.
This has the following advantages:
* Other projects (like the MicroContainer) can share the common data
* Other projects see the resulting data *AFTER* any AOP processing
* Optimizations can be made over the javassist current classes,
e.g. dropping the unnecessary bytecode from memory after the defineClass
operation

BeanInfo
The BeanInfo model is a description of the javabean rather than the class.
i.e. it shows properties rather fields (which are getter/setter pairs) or
it shows only public nonstatic methods or it adds things like events.
This properly belongs in the MicroContainer module rather than as a part of a
generic class description.

[JBoss-dev] [Design the new POJO MicroContainer] - Boston meeting notes: JoinPoint model

2005-02-06 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
The JoinPoint model is the abstraction/integration point of the container.

Other modules like the MicroContainer use the JoinPointFactory (JPF) to obtain
Constructor/Method/Field JoinPoints

Depending upon the usecase and configuration the JPF may be the AOP advisor
or a simple implementation that uses reflection on the bean.

The JPF is retrieved after configuration on the ClassAdaptor

Clarification.
The JPF is not quite the same thing as the AOP advisor.
The JPF has the notion of instance/target (even before the instance exists) and
the AOP advisor used maybe at the class level when no instance specific
configuration
is required.

[JBoss-dev] [Design of JBoss Portal] - Unable to create a new directory in Portal 2.0 alpha

2005-02-06 Thread ${bb.Guest}
Hi,

I am using Portal 2.0 alpha with JBoss 4.0.0. In the CMS creating a directory
doesn't seem to work. I think copy to and/or remove didn't work as well if I
remember correctly.

At least in my version I found that the reason was a wrong pointer in the
following JSP pages:

  | .. portal-core.sar/portal-core.war/WEB-INF/jsp/cms/admin/confirmcopy.jsp
  | ..
portal-core.sar/portal-core.war/WEB-INF/jsp/cms/admin/confirmcreatecollection.jsp
  |

The mistake is in this line:

<%@ page language="java" extends="org.jboss.portal.core.servlet.jsp.PortalJSP"
%>
  |

It should be

org.jboss.portal.core.servlet.jsp.PortalJsp

instead of

org.jboss.portal.core.servlet.jsp.PortalJSP

[JBoss-dev] [Design of JBoss Portal] - where is hellowworld portlet

2005-02-06 Thread louie171
hi,

I'm reading portal reference guide and want to deploy the helloworld portlet.

It says in chapter 5 'You already have a portlet named helloworld.war'

but i cannot find it. Do you have to write the portlet yourself and then use
the instructions given to deploy it?

Or is this portlet available somewhere on the website?

I am using jboss-portal-2.0-alpha and jboss 4

[JBoss-dev] [Design the new POJO MicroContainer] - Boston meeting notes: Two phase join point factory construct

2005-02-06 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
We need to satisfy the needs of
* dynamic classloading (hot deployment of classes),
* "hot" dependency injection (hot deployment of dependent beans)
* AOP bytecode engineering
* dynamic pointcut resultion (including from jboss-aop xml or MicroContainer
configuration)
* annotation overrides (including from jboss-aop.xml or MicroContainer
configuration)

The solution is two phase join point factory resolution.

The MicroContainer already has this notion in the lifecycle.

State:
NOT_INSTALLED - The bean has been registered but the class is not available,
some dependencies are known but others may come from the class annotations
DESCRIBED - The bean's class is available and a description has been retrieved,
including dependency information
INSTANTIATED - All the class/constructor dependencies were satisified and the
bean has been created

But the implementation needs to change to use the ClassAdaptor

DESCRIBE:
The Class is available but we don't load it yet because AOP or annotations may
introduce extra dependencies we don't know about yet.
Instead we:
1) Use the ClassAdaptor to obtain the ClassData (which maybe overridden by aop
config)
2) Use the ClassAdaptor to tell it about annotation overrides at the
BeanMetaData level (i.e. the microcontainer instance configuration)
3) Use the ClassAdaptor to obtain dependencies needed by annotations
4) Use the ClassAdaptor to obtain dependencies needed by linked
AspectFactories/Advices

INSTANTIATE
Once all the dependencies have been satisfied the MicroContainer asks for
the JoinPointFactory which will load the class (if not already done so) and link
the relevent class advisor.
This will give the MicroContainer a ConstructorJoinPoint that can be used
to create the instance (including any InstanceAdvisor if required)

[JBoss-dev] [Design the new POJO MicroContainer] - Boston meeting notes: Annotations

2005-02-06 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Annotations will be used as the metadata model.

We know how to do annotations in jdk1.4

Some things that need changing/accounting for:
* The annotations need to be processed *BEFORE* the class is loaded (hence
ClassData Model)
* The ClassData model needs to include annotation overrides from the
jboss-aop.xml
* The MicroContainer needs to override the annotations per instance

We need to be able to easily determine that an annotation introduces a
dependency.
This can easily be achieved by an annotation on the annotation, e.g.

@Security(domain="default")

We need to know "default" is dependency on the security domain, so we annotate
the
annotation.

@Depends (value="domain"}
public @interface{String domain;}

The @Depends annotation can be extended to introduce extra configuration
where the configuration needs special processing, e.g. mapping the name
jboss.security:service=SecurityDomain,name=default

Other considerations:
In the invocation metadata we need to differentiate real metadata like the
security annotation and invocation attachments like the cluster view.
Annotations: Used when we want typed access to policy
Attachments: Used when an invocation has generic untyped data that is not policy

Things TODO:
We need to verify serialization of annotations between jdk1.4 and java5
Bill needs to fix the problem where a class is compiled with our jdk1.4 style
annotations which are not loaded properly running under java5

Other possiblities:
Add our annotation processing to RetroWeaver

[JBoss-dev] [Design the new POJO MicroContainer] - Boston meeting notes: Advices and AspectFactory

2005-02-06 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
The integration point for Advices (one implementation is Interceptors)
are the AspectFactories.
The AspectFactories construct the advices/interceptors

To better enable the integration this style of configuration (one object
constructs another)
the following artifacts will be added:

AOP
A GenericAspectFactory will be developed that can be confgured using IOC
which delegates to a GenericBeanFactory

MicroContainer
The GenericBeanFactory is also an IOC configurable object but with a twist.
IOC injects the constructor and attribute configuration metadata objects, not
the values directly
The users of the GenericBeanFactory have it injected using IOC and the use
GenericBeanFactory.create()

Annotations and Dependencies
In this use case, the annotations and dependencies need to also come from the
constructed object (e.g. annotations on the interceptor) not just the main IOC
object
(the AspectFactory).
I see this is a generic requirement where people don't want to construct
everyting
directly through IOC.
So the solution is to provide a mechanism where the config can tell the
microcontainer
about these related classes that need to be processed for
injection/annotations/dependencies.

[JBoss-dev] [Design the new POJO MicroContainer] - Boston meeting notes: Container module changes

2005-02-06 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Bill thinks a better name for this module is JoinPoint

This module will contain the following packages

org.jboss.reflect - the ClassData spi
a concrete implementation of immutable classes
that are filled in by the ClassDataFactory implementation

org.jboss.joinpoint - the joinpoint model including the join point factory
Two implementations are currently anticipated
ReflectionJoinPoints - using jdk reflection
AOPJoinPoints - using the AOP advisors

org.jboss.classadaptor - the integration and configuration spi
Provides:
* Integration point for retrieving ClassData
* Annotation processing - (both retrieval and overrides)
* Dependency resolution - resolving all dependencies from the resulting
annotations and linked classes like the aop advices
* JoinPointFactory retrieval

NOTE: It is at this level that the annotation override processing will occur
1) From any annotation override through the ClassAdaptor
2) From any annotation override from "xml" configuration like jboss-aop.xml
3) From the class itself

[JBoss-dev] [Design the new POJO MicroContainer] - Boston meeting notes: AOP module

2005-02-06 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
The following changes are required in the aop module

* javassist implementation of ClassData spi
* pointcut expression matcher uses ClassData spi
* AOP exposes itself through the JoinPointFactory spi
* InstanceAdvisor needs all the features of ClassAdvisor
* Load time AOP should store ClassData structures and dump javassist structures
that consume a lot of memory
* Generic ProxyAdvisor based on EJBContainer from EJB3
* Changes to properly support serialization/proxying of generated classes for
use on a client
(including those with limited capabilities)

Unrelated tasks but identified during the discussion:
* AOP should support "layer aspects" where an advice can direclty implement the
methods it is aspectizing
* Annotation compiler should process imports so we can write

  | import org.jboss.security.Security;
  | /**
  | * @@Security
  | */
  |
rather than

  | /**
  | * @@org.jboss.security.Security

[JBoss-dev] [Design the new POJO MicroContainer] - Boston meeting notes: MicroContainer module

2005-02-06 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
The following changes have been identified in the MC module

* Reflection based implementation of ClassData spi where AOP/javassist spi is
not being used???
* BeanInfo model that serves as a wrapper for ClassData
to provide java bean semantics, e.g.
AttributeSetterJoinPoint("XXX") maps to MethodJoinPoint("setXXX")
* BeanJoinPointFactory based on reflection for when AOP is not used/no container
* BeanClassAdaptor that exposes and configures the BeanJoinPointFactory
NOTE: Annotations that require container/aop/advice processing will be ignored
* Add annotation override configuration to the BeanMetaData
* Modify describe()/instantiate() state actions to use the ClassAdaptor (see
two phase JoinPointFactory)
* Add Array/Collection/Set/List/Map to the BeanMetaData (also need to fix the
BeanMetaData to use a vistor pattern when analysing dependencies so we don't
have to change this routine everytime the BeanMetaData changes)
* Implement GenericBeanFactory for indirect bean construction but still under
"IOC"
control
* Add lifecycle and annotations for @CreateLifecyle/@StartLifeCycle/etc.

Need to annotate the jmx lifecycle for MicroContainer usage:

  | public interface Service
  | {
  |@CreateLifecycle
  |void create() throws Exception;
  | // etc.
  | }
  |

Also the default annotation semantics need to be expanded to take into account
interfaces/inheritance on methods

e.g.

  | public class MyService implements Service
  | {
  |public void create() {}
  | }
  |

The default annotation processing results are

  | Method createMyService = MyService.class.getMethod("create", new Class[0]);
  | Method createService = Service.class.getMethod("create", new Class[0]);
  |
  | createMyService.getAnnotation(CreateLifecycle.class); // returns null
  | createService.getAnnotation(CreateLifecycle.class); // returns
CreateLifecycle
  |

The following changes need to be made to the aspects module for
AOP/MicroContainer integration.
These may be better placed in some other module???

* AOP implementation of ClassAdaptor spi
* AOP implementation of JoinPointFactory spi
* Add @Depends annotations to relevent annotations
* GenericAspectFactory that uses GenericBeanFactory
* Deployer that deploys aspect.xml to the MC

Other tasks identified

* AOP should work in applet. If it does not, FIX IT
* jdk1.4/java5 interopability - classloading annotationc -> java5 and
serialization between versions
* create a glossary of terms - one of the major causes of confusion this week
was
different understandings of terms - WE NEED TO BE SPEAKING THE SAME LANGUAGE

Lower priority

* The MicroContainer configurator is being "removed" by the introduction of the
JoinPointFactory - need a convenience class to re-expose a similar class to
other functions
* implement micro-container deployers that deploy other IOC implementations
xml configurations as a sanity check on our feature level

[JBoss-dev] [Design of JBoss Eclipse IDE (dev)] - Re: JBossIDE New Extension Wishlists

2005-02-06 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I think for most of the projects there would be a requirement to implement
JSR77 and JSR88 clients.
This also needs to be considered within the context of the admin console.
This would encourage those projects to expose relevent information via
these standard interfaces.

I also want to look at what might be done for the microcontainer project.
i.e. annotate a bean with microcontainer config and install it (similar to
jboss-aop).

I can see this being a very visible thing. i.e. Take bean classes from a pallete
and link them together to define depencies.
This can then be saved as pojo server configuration.

This should be very similar to JavaBean guis with the additional features
for constructing dependencies/injections and annotations.
It would also consume some of the features from the jboss-aop ide, e.g.
add a security aspect to the transaction manager using drag/drop and configure.

This is the "Minority Report" style configuration.
One side of the screen beans/services, the other the aspects.
The "server" is constructed by grabbing these and joining them together.

2005-02-06 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Another thing that would be interesting is to see the server logging on the
client.
But only the logging relevent to that client's invocations. i.e. we don't want
to
see the whole server log.

There is already a prototype of this aspect in the jboss codebase
where a thread local appender is constructed on the server and the results of
logging on that thread during the request are returned to the client.

This would also allow one thread to see TRACE logging while debugging a
particular
request while the rest of the server is at INFO logging.

Integration with the IDE to show this client specific log on the console would
be useful I think?

[JBoss-dev] [Design of JBoss Portal] - Re: Theme development

2005-02-06 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I guess your point is to have 1 JSP but N images + CSS.

It is good but not enough (can be a first step though)

I think we need to leverage the flexibility offered by JBoss Portal. You can
define regions + windows.

One should be able to define the design of a region and a window easily. We
should also be able to define how and where the regions can be rendered.

I'd like to have separate files.

Let's say:
1 file for the general layout
1 file per region
1 file per window

As of today, we can only put a portlet in a region, but we cannot tie a window
decoration to it (the region is responsible for that)

The general layout, could point to the regions by specifying there name with a
custom tag.
A region could point to windows specifying their name as well.

For example:

  | nodesk.jsp
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |

Then we could define left.jsp, maximized.jsp and right.jsp

Those are just ideas. What would be nice, is something simple that works :)

[JBoss-dev] [Design of JBoss Portal] - Which is the right tool, JBoss Portal or OpenCMS?

2005-02-06 Thread sverker
For quite some time I've been looking at using OpenCMS as a content management
frontend in which I would run an application where today the web frontend is
developed with struts and tiles. However, OpenCMS would require a big work to
adapt it to running smothly on JBoss. There are several issues due to legacy
code and solving them while maintaining compatibility would not be easy.

At first glance JBossPortel seamed to be the answer, at least it is well
integrated with JBoss AS.

However, after looking more closely I started to doubt and please correct me if
I'm wrong. JBossPortal seams to be organized with the Portal and Portlet
container on the top, in which it is possible to run a html portlet which can
display html pages (which can be maintainer by the AdminCMS portlet). Would it
be possible e.g. to have jsp-pages instead of html pages?

Anyway, the overall structure of the page is handled by a number of xml files
that has to be deployed. These XML files specify which porttlets are used on
the page and how they are organized. JSR-168 shows a layout where each portlet
have a windows-like frame but I assume that is not mandatory look and feel.

What I want is a system where the Content Management tool is on top, so that I
can manage everything about the website from the browser. I.e. definie new or
edit templates where I can e.g. assign an area where a portlet should be loded
or edit html or jsp pages without having to change xml files on the server.

As I understand it JBossPortal is not capable of doing that now but my question
is if that approach fit into the JBossPortal architecture or is it as I
described above (with portal/portalcontainer on the top and CMS under that)?

[JBoss-dev] [Design of JBoss Portal] - Re: Trouble - hadcoded MIME type and restrictions

2005-02-06 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I have integrated your work in the codebase today. Thanks for the contrib.

I think that now we need an interceptor that is going to select the portlet
according that mime type. Each portlet advertise the mime types it can server,
so at the end the portlet on the page are those that support the mime type that
has been decided as content type for the request.

Makes sense ?

[JBoss-dev] [Design of JBoss Portal] - Re: Theme development

2005-02-06 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I think that we need something to shield the theme from internal changes (i.e a
contract).

Today if I change some stuff in the portal server, that will break the themes.

I think that the first step would be a jsp tag library, any other ideas ?

Hi,

I encountered the following error when I tried to run to deploy a 3.2.x jar
file for jboss 4.0.1. I assumed it was due to some incompatibility with the
Java specifications. But later on, I was able to deploy it successfully on
jboss 4.0.0. All the files used are the same, i.e. the jar, database, jdbc
driver etc. The only difference is the App Server. Is this a bug? Thanks.

Grayson Pierce commented on EJBTHREE-39:

I'd like to understand how this was fixed. I've been following the development
of 5.0alpha release and still have a problem getting composite keys to work
correctly. Is it correct to assume that by closing this issue, the problem has
been fixed in 4.0RC(?)

If so, how can I get that release from CVS and what are the build instructions.

Thanks.

Allow resources to be defined like source. A component should be able to
declare a resource where:

includes the source under src/resources/jbossmq-httputil which could be
included in an artifact:

which will add src/resources/jbossmq-httputil/*.xml to the jar.

[JBoss-dev] [Design of JBoss Build System] - Re: Adding Resources To Artifacts

2005-02-06 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I have implemented this with a small change. The problem I ran into in the jmx
module is that resources were rooted in src/resources instead of some
subdirectory.

  |
  |
  |
To accomodate this, I needed a resource path of id ".", which didn't look right
from a usability perspective, so I added a path attribute:

  |
  |
The id can be used by default to specify both the name and the path like a
source element. However, this gives the flexibility to have an id different
from the path.

[JBoss-dev] [Design of JBoss Eclipse IDE (dev)] - WebEx ????

2005-02-06 Thread elkner
Hi,

on the IDE "home" page there is a link "EJB3 Tools Demo (inside Webinar)". Are
there
somewhere any instructions, how to get a client for it? All a get, when
clicking on
this link is "your is not supported". Is this stuff supported for
windooze, only?

I'm using Linux + Mozilla.

Or better, isn't there a stream of this demo, which can be viewed on all major
platforms, e.g. flash, realplayer, mp3 etc. ?

[JBoss-dev] [Design of JBoss Portal] - Hmm, a few errors after update - needed wurfl library

2005-02-06 Thread kgelner
I just re-updated and re-ran build.

After the update, I was seeing compile errors, this time missing stuff from
net.sourceforge.wurfl - an example:

  | [execmodules]
/Volumes/Ash/Users/kgelner/project/jboss-portal/jboss-portal-2.0/core/src/main/org/jboss/portal/core/invocation/ContentTypeInterceptor.java:21:
 package net.sourceforge.wurfl.wurflapi does not exist
  | [execmodules] import net.sourceforge.wurfl.wurflapi.CapabilityMatrix;
  | [execmodules] ^
  |

Some other classes from that package structure that it desires are
ObjectsManager and TagUtil.

I downloaded the Wurfl package from:

http://wurfl.sourceforge.net/java/installation.php

Created a $JBOSS_HOME/thirdparty/wurfl-wall/lib directory where I stuffed the
wurfltags.jar file, that seemed to quiet the compile down and it now works.

Since I'm using JBoss 2.0.1, I figured I might as well go with the
wurfl_tc5_b2.zip version of the library for Tomcat 5.

Also, trying out a master build.sh deploy from the build directory encountered
an error with third-party/xom-xom/lib not existing, I created the directory to
placate the deploy script but didn't bother to hunt down the library since it
all compiled.

Others reading this post, please note I am not a committer so by saying I
"added" it I just mean locally - you'd have to do the same thing if you have
this problem.

Then I tried running the portal, and see this error a number of times on
startup:

  | 23:35:27,178 INFO [Binder] Mapping collection:

Yes, that makes sense. May I participate ;) in those changes ?

P.S.: how can I connect to the CVS with IBM's WebSphere Application Developer

[JBoss-dev] [Design of JBoss Portal] - The example of web.xml

2005-02-06 Thread SShinder
For the HelloWorldPortlet does anyone have an example of web.xml and may be
jboss-web.xml? Do we need jboss-web.xml?
What xml files do I need to deploy my portlet? This is very unclear from the
guides. The guides suppose I am already a JBoss Guru but I am not, and the most
of the users aren't.
