I have copied my Europa workspace and used the copy with ganymede. The same result/problem. ZThe only thing that is working is to generate a new seam project with JBT inside ganymede So i fear that i must go back to europa. Hello, we are working on a maven project, that is deployed as an ear. It is an multiproject Project. With Eclipse europa and the latest JBT for this plattform we do not have hotdeploy problems. We can save JSF Files and the changes are published to our app. We can save java Files with no harm. I have changed to eclipse ganymede + JBTools 3.0.1 But now, when i save any file, my app stops working. An exception is thrown with this message: You are trying to use a connection factory that has been shut down: ManagedConnectionFactory is null The only solution i see is to go back to europa. But than i will lose all the new features:-( What could be the reason, that this problem occurs only under ganymede while it works with europa? Hello Thanks for the answer. I try to explain: 1. Checking out the project (choosing a different directory for europa/ganymede 2. run the following commands mvn clean mvn install mvn eclipse:clean mvn eclipse:install 3. In a fresh workspace import the project into eclipse. As you can see, we are generating the eclipse artefacts (.project etc) from maven. Perhaps this introtuces the problem? Hello,
I have some problem with eclipse 3.3.2 together with JBoss Tools 2.1.2GA and
Seam Seam 2.1.1CR1
When editing a xhtml page and entering the el expression to retrieve a
messagebundle entry it does not work.
so #{m it results in Content assist not availale.
So i created a new Seam Web project (war) with hsqldb and tried it again. It
does not work.
The search in JIRA gives: it should work.
So i asked here: Is this problem repeatable was a newly created Seam project.
Eclipse Europa (3.3.2) and the coressponding JBT 2.1.2GA?
What could be the reasons it does not work?

should work.
But i only get Content assist not availale.:-(
When i type #{ i can see org.jboss.seam.international.messages among the
possible resolutions, but messages is not between them.
Why does this not work in a newly created Seam project (war deployment)
i was trying to use this on the created login.xhtml page.
3.0 is not an option. Personally i use ganymede but at the job we are bound to
europa:-(

As i sayed i am bound to eclipse europa. So i cannot test it with 3.0 builds. From JIra it should work. Thats true. But it does not work. The only steps i have done are: Create a new Seam Project (war) with hsql and try to enter a messagebundle entry on the login page. This does not work for us. After downloading a nightly build (from 9.07.2008) the deployment works. But i ran into a jsf bug. The nightly contains jsf 1.2_08 which is known to NOT work well with richfaces. So i can not test further until this is solved. The story:
Created a Seam project with JBT 2.1.1 (mysql database)
and deployed it successfully to JB AS 4.2.2GA
Created a server for 5.0.0.CR1
Deployed the above mentioned project to it.

There is this difference between my 2 eclipse installations: For eclipse-jee-europa-fall2 i get the error when i first deploy my project with Run as/run on server But after the server is started i can do a clean in the Jboss server view and all is well. No error and the app is running. It is this clean which does not work with eclipse-jee-europa-winter :-( Eclipse displays an error box when i do the clean Resource '/tre-ejb/build/classes' does not exist. Hello, do i understand it correctly, 'Seam Generate Entities' does work for your databases, except for oracle? We have used it for generating entities out of our Oracle Express database. And we have it successfully used against Oracle 9. It was not an easy task for us to setup the database connection in a fully functinal way. But we succeded. In what i can remember, we have first tried to setup the oracle connection so that the 'hibernate' perspective does work in eclipse. I am not sure what you mean. If you have a web project generated with jboss tools all pages are in the Web-Content folder. If you use a seam-gen project, all pages are in the view folder. You can build up any hierachy in these folders. the *.page.xml belongs in the same folder where the coresponding *.xhtml is. I have never seen, that pages are stored in the WEB-INF folder. Thanks for the response. Meanwhile i have detected that code IS generated. Due to the error there is no refresh of the directory list inside eclipse. A simple refresh revealed the generated code. All classes are there. But due to the error a many2one dependenxy must be missing. I will investigate further and compare the genereted Code with my expectations. Some questions? Is code generated class by class? Or it is generated in turns,e.g.: first all the java code for all classes, then table annotations for all classes, then dependencys ... I am asking because i am missing named querys which are present in the hbm.xml but not in the generated code. Perhaps the error occurs when these querys are parsed. We generated a hibernate console configuration for our project. 2. opening hibernate perspective 3. Run / hibernate code generation 4. filling out the dialog on the main tab choosing the console configuration and selecting an output directory on the exporters tab selecting Java 5 syntax and domain code generation 5 Run Code is generated but without annotations. so we specified in step 4 generate ejb3 annotations. Hello, my questions: 1. will there be any support for JAX WS (Jboss WS) bundled with JBTools? 2. in the JIRA there are some issues about web servises. But they are scheduled for LATER. Whta does LATER mean? When looking on this webpage:http://labs.jboss.com/tools/ a jboss WS Tools module can be found. But it is not bundled with JBT CR1 I do need easy support for web services. With easy i mean no knowledge of the internal working should be necessary. We do have a couple of programmers with no knowledge in this area. They should create the web services. Unfortunately we have found one tool that supports the kind of web service support we need (NetBeans). But it is not the tool we are in favour of. What we need is simple. all the tooling for Seam projects that JBT delivers plus the JAXWS support from netbeans in one tool. I got the task to introduce web services to people with only little experience with java EE. What i need, is an easy procedure in the IDE to create web services and web service clients. (with JaxWS, Jboss tools seems to only support axis, when i am right) Config files, ant etc. are to complicated for the desired audience. So i do need a good gui for it. At end of november i do need this easy procedure. The only possibility for me seems to use netbeans. This tool implements the understandable procedure for creating webservices. I do not expect the answer that it will be implemeted in the next two weeks, or that it is already implemented and i have overlooked it. Hello, after the VPE do not crash any more i have detected a little problem with JBossTools-200709200350-nightly-ALL. With a seamgen generated project i can not see some facelets support. the attributes for ui:decorate (name) and ui:insert (src) tags are not completed. After inserting the content manually of this tags, the content is not shown in the visual part:-( With a jsf project this is working. How can i get my seamgen project working with such a support? Or is this a bug or not possible? Very interesting thread. i like to give a new usecase (or workflow) We have a search screen, where the user can search for an object(e.g. an experiment) When navigation to the show/edit screen ocurs a conversation is started and the object(the experiment) is shown. Now the user can work with the object(the experiment) What comes in now is a subworkflow. This workflow uses a nested conversation and could be started on any page. When this subworkflow ends, the nested conversation ends and redirection to the starting page occurs. Now imagine that our object(experiment) consists of many parts (analysis,mtplate,samples and so on). Could it be good design to create some of this parts in a subworkflow? And if so, how can i get hold of the assembled object in my outer conversation? This gets more complex when you are aiming to an object hierarchy An experiment has mtplates and analyses. Now when editing an analysis, this analysis has to be associated with an mtplate. But if none exist, it must be created. After creation of the mtplate there is no connection between analysis and the created mtplate because the mtplate belongs to the experiment. I hope you see my point. My question is how this kind of workflows can be correctly implemented with seam and conversations? For now, it seems to me that it is nessacary to deliver results from the nested conversation to the outer conversation. If no long running conversation is active, after pressing the commandbutton the
evaluation is shown.
When i start a long-running-conversation(in *.page.xml for the page)
no evaluation is shown after pressing the button.

we experience this problem:
Clicking on a button behaves different than pressing the button via
return/enter key.
Scenario:
Displaying a form (long-running-conversation active)
Inside this form the user can activate a new page which starts a nested
conversation.

The save action is annotated with @End and it performs a endAndRedirect:

When clicking on the button, the user is redirected to the enclosing form and
the nested conversation has ended.
But when the user presses the return/enter key inside the form a redirection to

What is going on here?
This is happening inside a seam-gen generated project (with Seam2.0.0Beta1)
I've just reassured that the save action is really called when pressing
enter/return
Another related question (which has little relation to seam but to JSF in
general. Perhaps someone has a hint)
I have to deal with a couple of peoples who are used to press enter when they
enter a numeric value in a field.
I do not want to submit the form in this case. The only way to catch this
scenario for me, is to place a default button at the top of the form which does
nothing.
Are there better ways?

today i have a question about DataModelSelection. I have not found an answer
for this for more than one year. But now a solution will be greatly appreciated.
This is the starting point: (all code is simplified)
i do have a fully functinal page in my app:

We do need more than one of this kind of page, but with different kind of
actions.

The List of ExperimentSites are rendered as expected. But when clicking on a
link the DataModelSelection selectedExperimentSite is null. Why?
Any insight is greatly welcomed.

[jboss-user] [Tomcat, HTTPD, Servlets JSP] - Rendering issues with TC6 in JBossAS 4.2.1
We have some rendering issues with JBoss AS4.2.1 and all of our browsers (opera,tomcat,ie). The css is not applied correctly, so the pages do not show up as expected. With Opera and IE the pages are readable, but with Firefox it gets towards unreadability. We are using JSF, Facelets,Seam, Richfaces. Our pages worked well with jboss AS 4.0.5 (and the included Tomcat5.5). Found this qoute here: anonymous wrote : The most web servers send as type for HTML and XHTML files ?text/html?. My results so far: Oracle XE (Express) can not do XA Oracle9i will be configured as described above. 1. The schema validation succeeds. Everytime a transaction comes in play the error occurs:-( 2. setting com.arjuna.ats.jta.allowMultipleLastResources to true and using two local-tx-datasource has helped for the moment. But after reading all the docs vickyk gently pointed, i do want to use xa datasources. For now i do not know why the exception occur. Any help is very appreciated. Why does it work with 4.05GA but not with 4.2.0GA? If a XA-Datasource is relly needed with 4.2.0 how is it configured. I can not understand where you have problems. The complete suite is easily installable. If you have problems look in the wiki. There is a page about installation of the nightlys. And why do you have the requirement, that you must install only the plugins you use? Eclipse runs fine, even if you do not use some of its plugins. We do not have time to fenter with the dependencies between the plugins. So we unzip eclipse-jee-europa-win32.zip and make an eclipse extension site out of a nightly. Everything installs fine, even for JBossTools-200707031655-nightly-ALL-win32.zip iwe installed today. But we have to edit some feature.xml files according to http://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBIDE-500 If you want only a specific plugin, then try it. My opinion in this case is: The 'Jboss GURUs' should spent there time to stabilize and extend JBoss Tools. When it is ready, than there is time to make a dokumentation about installation of individual plugins. Surely, i have spend much time (more than a day) in figuring out, how to install the nightlys. So i have augmented the wiki page about installation of the nightlys with my gained knowledge. I am using this nightly: JBossTools-200706290355-nightly-ALL-win32.zip When setting up the configuration for a server there are 2 possibilities. In the dialog New Server (Define a New Server) one can choose a Jboss Serverfrom 2 subfolders. One is named JBoss and the second is named JBoss, a division of Red Hat When choosing a server from the second choise (JBoss, a division of Red Hat) than i am not able to start rthe server. After that i setup a server from the Folder JBoss and... this server starts up. Qustions: What are the different folders for? Why does one start and the other not? We are migrating one of our projects to jboss 4.2.0GA. After identifying that we also have to copy commons-digester*.jar and commons-beanutils*.jar to WEB-INF/lib folder there are no more errors at startup. But we get the org.apache.commons.collections.UnboundedFifoBuffer error:-( We have replaced the commons-collection.jar in jboss*/server/default/lib with one of the versions comming from seam-gen(seam1.2.1GA) And we are also copying commons-beanutils (in this case version 1.7) Situation: 1.) Having a project generated with seam-gen(from Seam1.2.1GA) running on JBoss AS 4.0.5GA without complains 2.) Using the instructions on this site: [url]http://www.michaelyuan.com/blog/2007/05/29/seam-book-examples-updated-to-jboss-as-420-ga/ [/url] we tried to migrate to JBoss AS 4.2.0GA 3.) Making the changes corresponding to beanutils and digester 4.) Server starts fine and we are getting the UnboundedFifoBuffer error 5.) Googeling about this error finding among other posts this thread. 6.) trying to copy the right versions of collection and digester.jars 7.) Stuck.. No solution so i post here. Can one post me a link to working versions of the librarys. We do have seam-1.2.1GA richfaces-1.1.1 with corresponding Ajax facelets 1.0.13 alpha commons-collections3.1 (from generated app) commons-digester1.6 commons-beanutils-1.7.0 Hope someone can help me out. Hello, I have not found an errata page for this grandious well written book yet. http://www.michaelyuan.com/blog/seam-next-gen-web-framework/ Does one exist? In particular Chapter 11.1.3 Use Extended EL in Data Table was discussed more than once in this forum. I can't remember the correct thread but Christian Bauer has stated that extended EL can not be used as described in the mentioned chapter. So an errata page is very usefull. BTW: I do not have an safari account. What state has the book in the safari area. Are these tiny little qirks already corrected there? I ommit the code for the html page sibnce this page is similar. It constructs
the table out of HTML tags(tr,td,table).
We have no idea where this problem comes from.

Sorry, i do not have a ready made solution for you, only some ideas. Asyou said you will have to use javascript. (There are many frameworks for javascript out there.) 1. I suggest to try richfaces. You will ajaxenable the combobox in a way that you are able to rerender the button. 2. Use a menu (richfaces has one) 3. Make your solution with javascript only. Surely hard to do, but possible. 4. one jsf-way to do it: When the button is clicked an action is triggered. This action will check the selected value of the combobox and returns an outcome. The navigation rules of your application will navigate to the page which is determined by the outcome. Hope this helps enough to get an idea for the direction to work further. Hello, what are you trying to do? Show the xtml pages. But, nevertheless, your code looks not quite correct. You do have a bean called budgetOverview in Conversation scope. And you try to outject the same name to conversation scope in scmanager. I do not understand whta you are trying to do. For your Datamodel costitems you need an initialization method. Either a factory or a method called from user interface would do the job. These concepts are well described in the seam documentation and are covered in the seam examples. But trying to outject an object which is already setup by seam, semms not right to me. Hi, now it is hopefully clear to me. You have an object 'budgetOverview' which is managed by seam, due to the @name annotation . At some stage in your workflow an object called budgetOverview is created (new ...) This object is NOT managed by seam. And you are outjecting this object into the same scope as the seam managed object resides in. So the datamodel can not be outjected, since you are not having a managed object in the scope. You should not create, with new, the budgetOverview object. Try to inject this bean into expresscalculator. From your code i suppose that you are not familar with the seam way of programming. Try to investigate the seam examples until you understand them. Or buy the very good new seam book, read documentation and experiment for yourself. We have a similar problem. We have to initialize a Catalog seam component from database when seam is started. Our solution: Catalog is application scoped. Our users must login before they can use the app. So we put this statement in our authorization bean: @In(create = true) | private Catalog catalog; | The first login initializes the component. It is only a workaround and does not work with apps when there is no need to login.
